Chapter 2
"Although I'm only fourteen, I know quite well what I want, I know who is right and who is wrong. I have my opinions, my own ideas and principles, and although it may sound pretty mad from an adolescent, I feel more of a person than a child, I feel quite indepedent of anyone."
18 years old Meher smiled seeing the quote she wrote at the age of 14. She has always been an ideal daughter to her parents and a brilliant student in school so far. She learned one thing in life and that was to excel in everything she started. Being competitive didn't stop her from living her life to the fullest. She could never kill the child in her; she loved that side of her personality. She was practical, smart, intelligent, ambitious, competitive, and innocent. She always thought her only weakness was her innocence, so she always hided that side from the world. Around the people she trusted and loved, she was like a kid... An innocent kid and a fun loving and carefree teenager. Sometimes meher used to laugh on her wondering if she has "split personality disorder".
It all started with a Facebook friend request. Then it was followed by chatting... From once a week to all day and night. Phone numbers were exchanged... They began understanding each other. Understanding soon turned into liking and they decided to meet each other. First meeting went well... That means many meetings followed. Soon they started dating and they have no idea when the casual dating turned into a relationship. A serious relationship.
Meher Purohit was in a relationship with Abeer Malhotra, the singing sensation of his college.
"Are you coming to pick me up or not...???" asked meher on the phone.
"I am coming baby... Just be patient..." replied Abeer.
"That's what I have been doing from the last 20 minutes Abeer... It raining, do you realise...??? and guess what people are staring at me... I'm standing here all alone " said meher angrily.
"I'm just 2 minutes away love... I promise... I think I can see you already..."
Meher knew what abeer was like so she disconnected the call and thought its better to wait for him quietly. Soon a bmw stopped in front of her and she got into it without wasting a single second.
Meher opened her hair and ran her fingers in her long silky hair to dry them. She took a tissue paper and quickly wiped her wet face. Once meher made herself comfortable, she looked at Abeer. He was looking at her with admiration and love.
"Like what you see...???" meher asked Abeer
"Yeaaahh... Loving it"
Meher blushed a deep shade of red and looked away. Abeer loved when meher blushed.
"I got these for you" said abeer offering meher a bouquet of white lilies.
"Aww... That's so sweet abeer... Thank you"
"My pleasure baby" replied abeer and kissed meher's cheek.
They were such a cute couple but never did they cross any boundary. It was their true love for each other that made them respect the limits and boundaries set by the society. It was never about list in their relationship. It was all about romantic talks, coffee or ice creams dates, long drives, holding hands, cheek or forehead kisses, hugs and late night conversations.
"You finally made it..." Abeer teased meher.
"But really... You actually thought I would be able to meet you today... Late night... For a long drive... It's too much baby.."
"We met on this very date two years back... Its so special... isn't it...???" asked Abeer.
"It is very special undoubtedly... That's why I made it... I told mum that I'm going to my ishi di's place... And when everybody slept, she helped me escape... And now I have to be back by maximum 4 am..." replied meher.
"Abhi toh bahut time hai love..." Abeer winked at meher.
"Abeerrr..."
"I know...I know... No coochie coo..." replied abeer.
"Aww... My baby... " meher pinched abeer's cheek and then kissed him.
"I'm driving... Don't distract me..."
Meher in response, only giggled.
"Anyway lemme take you to a cafe... "
"Cafe..??? Its 2am abeer..."
"I know honey... Late night cafe it is..."
"Ohhh... "
"Ohh yes chasmish..."
"Don't call me that..." said meher irritatedly.
"Hehe... No chasmish from now on..."
"I hate you..."
"Aww... I love you more meher..."
After being in a relationship for long 4 years, they decided of making their relationship official by telling it to their respective family and friends. Everyone accepted them happily and without any issues. This was like the best thing that happened to them. It was just the beginning of their "happily ever after" but "only according to them".
"So wanna get engaged for the time being or directly marriage...??" Abeer asked meher playing with her finger.
"What do u want Abeer...??" Meher replied after thinking about it.
"I can get married to you right here right now..." Replied Abeer while grinning.
"Desperation doing the talking..." giggled meher.
"Call it desperation if you want... I know its my love..."
"He he... Ok so Abeer I think we should concentrate on our career first... We can always get engaged you know..." said meher meekly worrying what would be abeer's reaction.
"As you wish Jaan... I just want to be with you... That's it..."
"I love you"
"I love you too meher"
The next day, meher didn't go to college and Abeer got a call from meher's classmate shasha, inquiring about her whereabouts. Abeer said he has no idea and freaked out next moment thinking about the same.
"Where are you meher..??? I hope you are all right... " whispered abeer.
Abeer without thinking drove towards meher's house.
"Meher what is wrong with you...???" shouted meher's mother
"Mumma what is so difficult to understand...??" replied meher rubbing her forehead.
"You told abeer that you don't want to marry him this early... But why..??"
"Yes I told him that because its time for us to focus on our career... I want to be self sufficient and independent... I have different priorities mumma..." replied meher calmly.
"What if he refuses to marry you after sometime...?? What will you do...??"
"Aunty"
Meher and her mother looked at the source of the voice.
"Abeer..." Meher whispered happily.
"I will never back out aunty... I love your daughter... I would never let meher go... An idiot would... " Abeer said to meher's mother with sincerity visible in his eyes.
Meher' mother kept her hand on abeer's head and blessed him with a smile on her face. Seeing the exchange, meher smiled with tears rolling down her cheek.
Abeer turned around and hugged meher and she hugged him back. That hug was a silent promise from abeer that he would always be with meher no matter what... He would love her till his last breath... And even after that; if that's possible. ❤️
