i do agree about Abeer being egoistic and headstrong. but i really do not think he is the kind of guy who would want his wife to sit at home. But it could be possible that his male ego was bruised when Meher was more succesful in her career than him? but then if Meher was successful why would she need the alimony money? there is definitely some other reason. Both of them were young, and getting married at such a young age (maybe defying families?) they couldn't handle this responsibility, lack of maturity plus other things like professional struggle etc. Sometimes even the smallest reasons could escalate to become huge.
Anyways about the characters, I think apart from ego and pride, Abeer might be having the hunger to prove himself. I think he might have had a constant struggle with his career, to prove himself to his father...and maybe to Meher. Maybe he didn't get Meher's consolation , support when he needed because she was busy with her own struggles. Abeer seems to be those rockstar type characters, who fell in love whole heartedly with a girl. these rockstar types have many issues π I guess what hurt him the most that she did not choose to be with him despite him going against his ego and begging her to. And being the egoistic person he is, he still cannot get over the hurt and constantly gets back at Meher as if that'll make him feel better.
but i would love to see more layers to his character than just the typical ones.
I completely agree on your analysis about Meher. But as Abeer described her in his show. She's a person who always followed her head. She's a rational person, with rational dreams of studying hard and getting job to support her family and being independent in life. especially since she has seen her mother suffering thanks to her dad, she would have apprehensions about marriage maybe and thinks it is important for a girl to independent. but then as u said the love in her life completed her. Even today when she is succesful in her own way, she still not over her marriage, over the love she was in with ABeer. Though she will never say it, it always haunts her.
