Oh my!
Yet feeling it difficult to believe that we're in a new phase, in a new time frame. It'll take time to let go of past appearances and accept the new entrants.

Coming to the episode, I actually liked the angle of camera during introduction of Bajirao. Like a 180 degree gradual turn. Well done there!
Oh dear. Radhabai has become so stone hearted. I get the vibes of a barren land that was once green and fruitful. But now it's a mere shadow of it's past glory. And now I understand why there had to be a character change for Radha. Anuja was too vibrant and cheerful for a dull & dry elder Radhabai who's seen enough if life and it's sufferings. Her face so parched, voice so thick & heart so cold. There's a warmth missing, a spark that's lost. That's Radhabai for us. I desperately want to see how did this character fade away in time.

Kashibai has a brilliance, a colourful aura around her. She gives life to Radha who would've dried long ago. She's vulnerable, scared yet emerges strong after a word with Aai.

"Ghar geela ho toh baad aur Mann kaccha ho toh darr use Todd deta Hai. Apna Mann pakka kijiye Kashibai ". THIS is the headstrong nature of our once leading lady.

" Aap Bajirao Ballad ki patni Hai. Aapke aankho mein unke liye intezaar Hona chahiye, darr Nahi ".

When Kashi lightly asks her if she is worried for Peshwa saheb or not, whether she waits for him or not.
"Humne unka intezaar Karna chodd Diya Hai."

There breaks my heart 💔. This is indeed very painful! And again I'll take time to realise that Radhabai isn't the same naughty lady I used to see.😵

"Hum Peshwinbai Hain. Peshwa Ka Ghar sambhalte Hain."

That's it. She has rather depreciated herself so much that her position is reduced to mere a housekeeper. Ouch!

I must say, a very strong characterisation.
Looking forward to watch more of this! <3

Precap : When Bajirao utters those words - Yaad rakhne ke liye yaadein Hona aavashyak Hai.
It's not just a simple statement. We'll have a look at both the faces side by side. We've to accept that he's not shared pleasant memories with her.

1. Bajirao is a dedicated warrior, there's no denying it. He's sworn his life to the land and it's people. As he's said : Kashibai, Nahi tumhaare aasoon humein rok sakte Hain, Nahi aapki Muskan. He was a kid, not inflicted by the sentiments of love. Fair enough. He respects her when she's around, that's it. So there's no question of 'missing' her, as asked by Gotya.

2. He completely neglects the fact that a woman behind is waiting for his return, waiting for him to come back to her. He doesn't appreciate her tyaag nor respects her intezaar. Her existence doesn't matter to her. Hence, there's no question of missing her.

The only objectionable part to the precap is Gotya's remark : wait till you fall in love. And then Mastani's glimpse. Is Kashibai's understanding not a reflection of her love? Is Bajirao's promise to return to her everytime not a symbol of his commitment?
I'm highly confused with these contradictory dialogues. If a man can't love/remember/respect his wife, he's no right to love someone else.

Not to forget, we're completely omitting the fact that Bajirao had a son with Kashi before Mastani came. For lord's sake, don't tell me he doesn't care for his son Nanasaheb.
...

Cheers,
Mahi

Good analysis 👏 it's so sad to see a once cheerful, full of life woman as a stone hearted lady of the house loved Baji's entrance n the precap broke my heart after staying with an animal for a long period of time u tend to love it but Baji feels absolutely nothing for Kashi. I get it she isn't the woman he lost his heart to but how could he not feel anything for the woman who cared for his family all those years waiting for him to return from his mission? And I am surprised Mastani already made her entry. Looks like I am the only one in the forum who feels Mastani's entry is happening too soon. Needless to say I feel sorry for Kashi who has nothing but pure devotion and love for a husband who will never be hers 😭

^Thanks!
Even I feel so. Mastani's entry looks forced. Bajirao had Nanasaheb with Kashi before she came. How come he's not interested in her? And how heartless it is to say that and feel it! He knows her worth, has appreciated it and yet he doesn't remember her clearly. This is historically incorrect. Kashibai was his friend, His support & his advisor too. Now if Radha is mad at him for it, I'm with her.

I too pity Kashi! All for nothing! :(
SAD.

I already dislike Mastani 😆 yes Nana Saheb was already 8-9 yrs old when he met Mastani. How could he beget a son from a woman he never felt anything? Kashi maybe the neglected wife but Baji valued her nonetheless. Kashi is probably an unsung hero in this so called epic love story of Bajirao Mastani who were fortunate enough to die at around the same time but what of the woman who lived with the scars for a long time to come and even raised the son of a woman who snatched away her husband like he was her own? I guess I will happily skip all Mastani scenes.

Absolutely. People feel for Mastani but what about the lady who never let down the kul's maryada, suffered quietly and didn't complain. Indeed true, it's difficult to accept another's son and bring him up as her own. It's difficult to live on with haunting memories and yet not say a word.

I'll too happily skip Mastani scenes. I never felt like sympathising with her :/

Neither could I sympathize with Mastani. No matter how great a warrior Bajirao was there is no denying he was a terrible husband. Back then women couldn't even voice out their feelings but ensure it all in silence. I was hoping at least for few epi we will get to see Kashi living a happy life but Mastani is already entering to wreck havoc in her life.

Exactly. I wanted them to explore some subtle friendship/romance between the two, at least some solid bonding before Mastani enters for trouble. :'(

Loved ur analysis on precap. Yes Baji has no right to love anyone else when he can't even acknowledge his wife's sacrifice. While talking abt memories has he forgotten how Kashi breathed life into his sister, how she went against her own mother and aunt to stand by him n his family, how she acknowledged him as a warrior and her pledge to take care of his home n family while he was away fighting wars for his country? How she waits for him praying for his safety? Disgusted with him already. Donno what else awaits us when Mastani track starts which is round the corner.

A hundred hugs for this post. Really.
I am not aware of the intricate details of Bajirao-Mastani marriage in history, but the way it was portrayed in the movie Bajirao-Mastani, I absolutely disliked Mastani. Even though Bhansali tried to portray her as an epitome of secularism and women empowerment, none of that impressed me as I could not reconcile with her role of a home-breaker.
But atleast in the movie they showed Bajirao and Kashi's marriage respectfully. Bajirao loved Kashi too.

Here they have gone a step ahead. They are portraying Kashi-Bajirao marriage to be a loveless one to justify Bajirao-Mastani's affair...😭

The precap was very hurtful. First reason for that is entry of Mastani. That is so not needed at this point.

Secondly, they are trying to portray as if Kashi is nothing more than a compromise for Bajirao, and it is Mastani who will come and 'save' him from a meaningless, loveless life. By glorifying this kind of a 'love story', the makers are reducing the integrity of all those simple, unfortunate women who love their husbands immensely but get nothing in return. 😭

Even though polygamy was customery then, I think it was practised mainly by royals and Kings. Ministers and common people were less likely to have dozens of wives at home...n were mostly monogamous at that era. Please correct if I am wrong. So, in such a setup, a husband bringing in a second wife/ concubine would not have been very common. This is one of the major reasons why I am not fond of Bajirao-Mastani pair.

Maybe I am being judgmental too early, but if they portray Kashi-Bajirao's chemistry in this manner throughout, then it would be very unfortunate. People claim "Bajirao Mastani" as some kind of "epic love story".
I wonder what would have happened, if the situation was reversed...aka Kashi falling for another man, despite having a dedicated Bajirao as husband.
