Tell us about your show Aye Zindagi
Aye Zindagi is a show which is about stories inspired real life incidents. You might be able to relate to these stories as it can be about anyone around you. If you ask me how different is Aye Zindagi, in this particular show I am not preaching, I am not telling people what to do, it's their choice. Because not every time what's right for me can be wrong to you. Zindagi is not black or white, there are greys between them as well, which are at times right. So this what the show is all about, where we present a story in front of you with a positive end of course, with an inspirational touch to it. Then we leave it to the audience to decide what's good or bad.
How did the collaboration happen?
I have been closely working with Zee a lot on a quote few things. Exactly, why they thought I was suitable because I had that genre experience with Yeh Hai Aashiqui before and I have that connect with the people where they loved my previous show. When they offered me the show, I was very happy to take it up.
There's not much buzz about the show. Any specific reason?
I don't think there's any specific reason for the show not having any buzz. But I think, we are trying our level best to put the word out there, people should know what's the new show all about. That's about it. I don' really know why is there no buzz as it should be because here the content is very much the king and we know the content is fantastic. Slowly and gradually, the show will pick up and people will definitely get hooked on to it. Watch the show because we are definitely confident about the content we have.
You have been hosting several shows and only in few shows. So what do you enjoy more? Acting or hosting?
Honestly, I enjoy acting more because that is something that does go back to my roots and that's what I was here for initially. So, I love that way more than anything else.
When will we see you in a TV serial?
As soon as I get a fantastic script. There was a chance when I was supposed to do a script and unfortunately now I am not now because of certain reasons. I couldn't be part of it because the character of the show is a little older than I am, he is 37-year-old and I don't look one according to the makers. So, I couldn't be able to do that show. But I really wanted to, I was waiting for a script to come to me and it did come to but unfortunately, due to other circumstances, it didn't work out. I am waiting for another script to come to me, where with circumstances will also work out and I just end up going to the sets for shooting.
Asha likes you more as an actor or host?
She just likes me, be it anything. She just likes me inevitably.
It's been almost six years that you are in the industry. How would you describe your journey?
I think it is nothing less than a Bollywood story or a fairytale where there has been ups and downs, good and bad. There are so much more I have to achieve still. There's so much more I have to cope ahead. I love the fact that people love my work and they love me as who I am. I think I am pretty blessed and I am glad I am in this position and I am really happy about that.
There are a lot of television actors foraying into Bollywood. Do you have any such plans?
Well everybody has those plans and even I do. I think it just needs a right amount of time and a right amount of position to work in a direction. It has happened to so many people and it will happen to me as too. I am waiting for my right time to come and I think it will come.
Valentine's Day is nearing, so any special plans with Asha?
Well, not really. But then now you have reminded me, I definitely have to plan something or she will kill me.
What are your marriage plans?
This question has been hounding me for so many months now. I still have time to go.
