Switching the conversation from Ramayan to Saturday's episode. Two things I would like to point out:
1. being Shiva and Krish convo about his hairstyle? From what I gathered yes he wanted to change his style but he also said to Krish 'kisi aur ko lattoo karna ho toh' - didn't quite get this. Although he wants to bring this change on him so that Raavi likes him but this comment I also think he wants to be liked by girls in general. However, I thought he didn't have problem what others think of him but onlyl Raavi.
2. During cake cutting when Raavi defended Shiva, Shiva was surprised and looking at Raavi. But on numerous occasions before Raavi has defended Shiva, why wasn't that look for Raavi then and why now?
I have a partial answer to your second question...
I think that pre wedding, Shiva's defence mechanism against Raavi and the possible Prafulla virus infection (as Suman so kindly put it for all of us) was ignoring her... Shiva was the most affected by his father's death and the following events. The one most brutally hardened by it. He didn't want to be in contact with mami or anything associated and it's not wrong either.
But, he also subconsciously recognised what a GOOD person Raavi was, which is why he had this ignore her until she enters his space policy... Even when he eventually agreed that the Dev-Raavi wedding was for the best, he ignored her until he couldn't, then fought with her.
Post wedding, post her suicide attempt, he started being more consciously observant of her. It wasn't the unwilling pull he had to her because of their very natures anymore, it was a protective 'I'm gonna keep an eye on you' thing now. Because he understood how vulnerable she was most. And this conscious observation allowed him to accept that yes, she was a good person, and to me, this is where his affection stemmed from beyond the physical attraction.
But, he still believed that she was only in their marriage for the sake of his family. So any defense of him was construed as 1. out of a sense of duty to their marriage, 2. because the family would want and approve of that.... It's true that the family's approval has always been important to Raavi as well, but I think that there was ever a sense of duty involved. But his constant prickliness didn't allow her the vulnerability to outright accept this either...
I hope this answers the 'why not earlier' part. As for the 'why now' part? Again, it could be twofold... He doubted she wanted the divorce for a moment on the day of their first hearing, this could be a possible continuation of that line of emotions, 'maybe she really wants this', which I don't really think it is. Or, it could be him feeling that after all he had done to her, with publicly disrespecting her and the divorce, she doesn't really have a reason to lie for him, implying it to be the truth. Which is what I think he's going to subconsciously think. Hence, the look.
PS Sorry for the essay.... 😆
