i watch them. i don't agree with them always but i like listening to diverse viewpoints and their metrics for assessment. both ateeqa and marina said something similar to what i said i thought was lacking about wahaj's portrayal of an alcoholic cktr. it hurt to hear nadia say how the competition in boys is now so tough, and wahaj has squandered the window he had post tere bin with unsatisfactory script choices and inconsistent performances.

even fantasy mai ek agar ek vampire ko ek ladki se pyaar hota hai, the set up of how he/she falls in love or how the feelings evolve from attraction to shiddat wali mohabbat where you will sacrifice everything. that's just called good writing and characterization. you can't just handwave bad writing shoddy execution and inconsistent performance as fantasy.

Shiddat wali mohabbat nahi hui hai IMO Bilal ko abhi tak..yes he has started liking her and yes he is "trying" to leave alcohol because he said to the girl that "main sharab chodne ki koshish kar raha hu" ..there is a difference between completely leaving alcohol and trying to leave alcohol so I still can't call it "shiddat wali mohabbat " ..he is trying to change but still lot of layers in Bilal's character and lot of layers in the love story are yet to be unraveled..so "shiddat " wala phase has not yet arrived.

About vampire thing,if you are talking about PKYEK there was no specific moment when Abhay fell for Piya even after being madly in love with his ex girlfriend....Its the saviour complex in Abhay along with resemblance of Piya with Maithili which made him deeply fall in love ..I see the same saviour complex in Bilal also.

About Wahaj's script choice, I just didn't like Mein and end of MPHT...but in all honesty,I feel like Bilal Abdullah has the potential to be an iconic character...He is a compassionate yet an intense and interesting character...even Tere Bin was such a bad story..even Murtasim character was hypocrite at times...at least that's not the case here.

He can't do drama only to impress critics...for that he has to do dramas like jo bichad gaye everytime ..I really want him to do a drama like JBG after this project but dramas like JBG are rare these days...

It's good to hear different view points but I refrain from watching these reviewers coz most of the time they do not make sense especially with their illogical reasoning which often makes it seem that they have no understanding of film making. Then it's same as going through tweets and reading forum comments which is what I usually do.

Wahaj's performance has been pretty consistent as per me.

Post TB, he signed only one show which is SMD....Mein was signed while TB was going on Which for sure was a disaster.

SMD so far has been 10 episodes so I am willing to see where it goes, the pacing is an issue !

And no actor will give hits all the time or make the right script selection. Be it Yumna, Maya, Wahaj or other actors of TB. Or even the likes of Bilal, Sajal, Iqra, Hania etc etc.

I feel Wahaj still has pretty solid filmography with work spanning across different genres plus he is truly a versatile actor ! So I am not bothered about what Nadia has said.

I just hope his next would be something completely different and for SMD to pick pace and have more of Wahaj

Btw, Ateeqa said in KDH today that she got a call from Hira. Hira told her how she herself developed her cktr's look and outfits and it wasn't in the script. From what Ateeqa said, it seems Humsha had a smaller role in the script but Hira tried to make something more meaningful out of it. Ateeqa was complaining that why get an actor of Hira'scalibre if this is not a substantial role. If what Ateeqa said is true, I'mnot sure if Humsha will be anymore than a sounding board for Bilal going forward (more of a Naamdar sb step-in).

I haven’t seen this and I’m not sure I have it in me to watch it. Are we valuing these shows now? I’m not sure. I watched the previous ones and I disagree with what they think an alcoholic should look like and that was their main issue. He was too groomed in their opinion. He should be disheveled. Yet we have Hollywood movies and shows with finance guys working in Wall Street using drugs heavily that are immaculately groomed. They loved Maya’s acting and her wearing a dupatta during just select scenes didn’t wasn’t even mentioned let alone criticized. Yet Maya is a terrible actress according to most of social media. I personally think she’s good. Opinions are all over the place. At the end of the day, I think most people fall in between. They watch it and don’t quite dig so much. If they enjoy it, they enjoy it.

I get the extra scrutiny on Wahaj from critics because the show is mostly hanging on his shoulders. Things that are excused or even praised for others will be majorly ripped apart when it’s someone with Wahaj’s popularity is doing it.

I feel it’s hard to enjoy a show if I’m constantly taking these critics opinions to heart because it skews my own views. That’s Wahaj’s job, he can take this criticism for what it’s worth. As a viewer, I don’t take it seriously. The character of Bilal Abdullah is being liked so he must be doing something right.

Tbh Bilal is definitely a very compelling character and I can see why Wahaj would have wanted to sign it...also, it's been just 10 episodes and people or even the so called critics have given their verdict. I am actually pretty invested in Bilal as a character..the only issue I have with SMD is of pace & less of Wahaj.

I personally do not want him to another JBG coz Rumi was not explored well as per me. He got such an abrupt ending. I know Wahaj loves Rumi but I feel his character deserved better treatment and exploration.

I want him do something very different now like a cop / officer where the story revolves around him

I can’t take them seriously if they’re rating Maya higher than him smiley37

My cribbing about some of his scenes aside, phir bhi zameen aasmaan ka fark hai between their range.

I didn’t watch these 3 ladies but the other reviewers even in their criticism have said that Bilal Abdullah is an intriguing character and major hook of the show. That’s on writing, direction and acting. People may not agree but he has put thought into this character and performs him differently than others and with consistency. Just look at his body language, tone of voice and other mannerisms. They’re all very consistent in the show.

It's not easy to pull off rich guy roles in different manners. And yet Wahaj manages to do that. He has given a different mannerism, personality to Bilal which makes him different than his other roles. One can't find an ounce of his previous characters in Bilal which is a sign of a good actor.
