Hahaha so true. It's so unpredictable. We still don't know how bilsad dynamics is gonna shape up.
Also smd is everywhere. People are even discussing about the reviews of the show. That's the insane hype of wahaj, although his shows get criticism, they are called out yet his shows end up being the most talked about. Happened with mein and now smd too.
Many shows are far away from realism which is fine as long as they enjoyable and not excessively toxic.
Not every show is meant to be realistic. A journo can fall for a goon, a businessman can fall in love with a girl at first sight, a businessman can become a servant to woo the girl he loves etc etc. It's all good as long as the show is enjoyable.
So far SMD is decent, it's just the pace which is the main issue for me and of course need more screen space for Wahaj.
the set up needs to happen. you can't just tell people. you need to show it to them.
jaan nisar had bad writing and direction but the love at first sight moment was clearly established. we see noshu see dua all dolled up and dancing at a shaadi and he couldn't look away.
even in tcm which is another bad show, danish saw laiba across the street getting on a bus. he couldn't look away but then you see him chasing the bus to her college and barging into the debate event just to see her. This establishes that this guy is now crazy about the girl.
Yahan BA has so shiddat wala ishq with Sadaf but we never got to see how this happened or how the transition happened.
the thing is that it's not only haters but ppl who like wahaj and want smd to work who are not getting it. the premise can be as fantastical as you want but if you need to sell it to audience by properly setting it up.

Hypno, in gm too krq didn't give any premise and showed the gunda and journalist fall in love with eachother just like that. Reviwers and audience felt that it was too bizarre.
Here too he's using the same approach. So it's better to accept that this is how it is and we won't get any detailing or romantic gestures. He can waste 12 episodes on zaviyar but can't show the falling in love phase of the leads

I m saying this from day 1 that some shows specially love stories does have a touch of fantasy and its fine until and unless its not excessively toxic specially from the ML side..
And the way people are looking for logic in SMD doesn't make sense to me..because no one said that the show is going to be realistic..Its going to be a one sided love story and one sided love in itself is a fantasy...!! So this show has to be a little bit melodramatic to fantasize the story and its characters..!!
the issue is not realism or lack thereof.
even fantasy mai ek agar ek vampire ko ek ladki se pyaar hota hai, the set up of how he/she falls in love or how the feelings evolve from attraction to shiddat wali mohabbat where you will sacrifice everything. that's just called good writing and characterization. you can't just handwave bad writing shoddy execution and inconsistent performance as fantasy.

that is what frustrating me. in gm i didn't understand the love angle either and couldn't get invested. or yahan i don't get it either. seriously smd is supposed to be a love story and the single most important thing you need to have shown, you don't show. but like you said we can get 12 episodes of zaviyar cancer instead.

Bilal caught a glimpse of Sadaf and was immediately attracted to her coz she didn't bother look back! This is what caught his attention.....This infactuation started taking shape of attraction and curiosity when he found out that she was Namdar's daughter! This is what made the major difference...the woman you are not supposed to even talk about while drunk! The man's daughter who has such high morals! This is what made Bilal more and more attracted towards Sadaf...the more he got to know about her from others like Humsha, Ammar, the more he fell for her! I guess it's pretty clear from the writer's pov and at least i can understand what he intended to show.

and that's the best part tbh...I am usually able to figure out the story even when it comes to thrillers but yaha I am clueless so kudos to the writer !

I have stopped watching these reviewers and stopped taking them seriously after watching their reviews initially coz i realized they simply put forth their opinion without having knowledge of the plot, story telling, screenplay, direction etc. aur phir maine ek aunty jo khud judge karti thi actors ki acting, unki acting dekh li in Iqtidar tab se toh bilkul vishwas aur uthh gaya

i didn't get lusty but I did get wide eyed nibba jisne pehli dafaa koi ladki dekhi or uski aankhein phati ki phati reh gayi or woh usko takta hi reh gaya. This doesn't fit BA's cktr or the situation. Plus they lingered the camera on wahaj's face for too long while he is staring wide eyed while sadaf is standing in front of him all this time. that lingering camera zoom made it creepy tbh. they should have had wahaj avert his eyes much quickly. like he is awestruck for a second as she steps in but looks away or down quickly so as to not make sadaf uncomfortable or reveal to her how he feels.
This. Exactly this. And it’s infuriating because Wahaj eats romantic scenes and he can do subtle SO WELL. Which again brings me to this being a deliberate choice by the director and Wahaj as a character interpretation but one which makes no sense. The character does not need this at ALL. It cheapens everything unnecessarily
