Its not about being a big hit .The leads had exactly 3 scenes so far with 10 episodes gone and zero chemistry. For a love story to work , the audience need to root for the lead pair as in the shows you have mentioned and that isn’t happening with SMD .

I disagree with you...I think this show will have a buildup of chemistry slowly and whatever scenes the leads had it was impactful and interesting and you can palpate the love and respect in those scenes..for me that's also an important part of chemistry
we need to make a distinction between romances and love stories.
krq does not write romances or romantic relationships. that's what someone like farhat ishtiaq writes. krq writes stories of dysfunctional relationships, unrequited love, angst. in many of his stories it's the bechara ML who is duur se in love with the FL who tortures him or puts him through multiple tests and trials. KRQ leads are as dysfunctional as their relationships. a lot of times there's no HEA.
IM/TB/KMKT none of these are not even in same genre of fiction as KRQ's most works. So the comparison is not apt.

I loved the conversation between the escort and Bilal. I loved more the conversation between Sadaf and Bilal. Basically i love the scenes with Wahaj Ali. 
The conversation with his friend whom he pays was heart breaking. Kinda a different perspective. The girls if i can call them escort also feels for him, aware of his loneliness.
I loved Bilal when he woke up in midnight. Wahaj is short and covering his neck with scarf makes him look shorter and bulkier. Messy bedroom look suits him.
Happened to speak to a friend in India about latest dramas and she was recommending Sunn mere dil. She is not a social media frenzied person. She spoke very highly about it, the story and actors. Means general audience is not scrutinizing much.

It is not just about the drinking and womanizing. I had said this before as well when just teasers had come that Pak audience tastes have changed with content like Radd, NJ and KMKT. If you are showing old stories, treatment and execution will need to be fresh and new. Also people now don't like OTT filmy acting anymore - they prefer it when performances are restrained and natural. Ishq hua flopped TRP-wise for the very same reasons.
Another reason that Pak main TRP or YT trends nahi aa rahe is because the leads are not looking attractive to people (at least to Pak aunties). My friend's mom watches Bismil but she thinks it's becoming boring. So my friend changed the channel to Geo. Her mom thought both Wahaj and Maya looked bimar and told her to change the channel. I have heard more than one Pak aunty say this. I mean how can you make two such haseen log look so pheeka and so drab that Pak aunties would rather change channels. Haseeb is making his leads look like he is making a Gangs of Wasseypur when we were expecting Bhansali ke visuals (as was promised in the poster and first teaser).
P.S. Sorry for the rant. This story has a lot of potential. There is at least proper structure and on paper, cktrs mai bhi dum hai. But how it all has been shortchanged by shoddy direction and execution just makes me sooo mad. Can you imagine what someone like Musaadiq could have elevated it?
I said this yesterday that they have put a filter on the entire screen and all actor's look like they have same brown skintone. Agar filter lagana hi tha toh 4k mein shoot kyu kiya
They took one year for the shoot, pre and post production but still the output is so thanda. Many are even saying that isse achha badar bhai hai who shot mein in 3 months and still managed to get superhit ratings. And this is actually true.
Obviously the tv watching audience would be bored seeing this track being stretched like a rubber band with no conclusion at all. Even after doing so much for zaviyar if sadaf still chooses ammar over bilal then audience will surely be pissed off.
Yes we all are ranting because a good pair and a story which had potential is being wasted because of poor writing, direction and editing. Only kaddu and his team are responsible for this mess. Wahaj has bought online audience's to show but if the show is so boring then even they can't continue to contribute the views.
Just see epi 9 already hit 7m because wahaj was given more ss. If it have been from the start then it'd have easily crossed 15-20m on each epi.

Billal - Sadar definitely have spark ! The eye contact scene was so well shot !
But u have to look at circumstances too , Sadaf lost her dad and has discovered her little bro has cancer so what all scenes she has with BA she is in under emotional stress and BA on other side has no clue what is happening till yesterday’s episode , she is Mirza saab daughter whom he held in high regards and mirza saab held his daughter in high regards and if she has come down and offered herself for money he definitely knows she is in trouble and he is trying to help. BA is helping Mirza saab daughter not Sadaf .

The eye contact scene did nothing for me. Wahaj and Maya had better chemistry in JBG where they were not even a couple .
