Phew, now that my ubalte hue jazbaat have calmed down, let's talk about the episode.

(warning: word vomit below)

Granted that the plot is moving at a very slow pace specially if we compare it with the initial episodes and while it can get a tab bit annoying at times, I gotta applaud the character consistency of this show. At least we don't get the characters acting like completely new people in every episode. Each episode shows these characters getting some development which makes them react in certain but consistent ways. And we get to know more about the reality of their intentions as well. Apart from Ruhi whose hatred I have no idea about, everyone else I can easily understand.

Wali is getting more space now. I loved the way Wali talked to Suhaib in the middle of the night and showed his vulnerability as the son and asked for strength. He was already too mature for his age and now he has to be more so. Sure he was always the responsible child of the house but that responsibility always had this carefree air to it. 'Abhi tou time hai, baad mein dekhenge...' This is proved by his very eager wish to go to Stanford. He had his own individual dreams and aspirations; he hadn't sacrificed them for the sake of his family. But now he is looking beyond his life and taking on the duties he is in no age to do so. He is the only man of the house now so automatically the duties fall on his shoulders. What's most profound is that he knows if anyone was to find about his actions, they would stop him cuz uski age hi kya hai? 20? 21? Still, far too young.

But what's great is that he isn't a typical obedient child as well and has his own anger streak. It was a complete joy seeing him snap at Ruhi not once but TWICE that too in front of AJ. He didn't take on a completely illiterate tone with Ruhi but he did very sternly tell Ruhi to stay in her limits. Wo tou AJ saamne tha warna Wali aur bhi bohat kuch kehta πŸ˜† And then with Arjumand as well. This man is fiercely protective of his Agha Jaan and it's so sweet the way he does that. One minor complain though, I wish we had some moments of knowing Wali in terms of his nikaah with Farah. Moiz indicated that Wali saw Farah coming in the house when they were going out but we didn't see that and Moiz is such an unreliable narrator when it comes to Wali so his words hold no weight. Plus that angsty horse ride. It seemed like Wali was disturbed at the thought of breaking his relationship with Farah but was it really the case? Or was he just disturbed at Ruhi's out of the blue demand? Does he have emotional attachment to Farah? Or is he worried about not being able to fulfill his father's and Bade Baba's wish? In every other matter Wali is clear but Farah ke maamle mein he is still in the fog...

Speaking of Farah, aah! My baby! <3 I am loving her development. With her Baba gone, she is increasingly feeling as being worthless. Her mother seems to not care about nor does she think that Farah can have role to play in supporting the family. Farah has all kinds of insecurities now. For the first time in her life she is feeling guilty of being a girl. The way she retreated when Ruhi pointedly ignored her and wished she had a son and showered all her love on Moiz was too sad. All her life she has seen Moiz be Ruhi's favorite but with Behroze to counter that, Farah didn't pay attention to it. But now with only Ruhi in the house, she is realizing the unfairness of her mother when it comes to loving her. Kahan tou Farah couldn't even make tea and now she is seen cooking in the kitchen...aaah, how the times change.

If Wali is going out of his way to take responsibilities, Farah's fear has her shrinking away from her very own dreams. I don't blame Farah her fear. Like I said, she personally has no good impression of Wali who to her is a gun-defending, good for nothing horse riding guy who only cares about maintaining his family's various business. That's how Wali has been in front of him. She has no clue that he is Stanford bound, highly intelligent and capable, family loving and responsible adult. She feels unsafe in her very room, how can she go out. Whatever Moiz be, I appreciate that he pulled her out of the house and forced her to not waste her academic year. All this messy situation has shaken Farah so badly. Kahan tou wo ladki who looked down upon girls who just do 3rd class BA for the sake of education and end up getting married, the girl who had big dreams for herself and the confidence to fulfill them, and kahan ye Farah who has zero confidence in herself and who'd rather lock herself in her room because of fear than go out in the world.

Ruhi ke baare mein I said a lot so meh 😳

Tajamul and Zohra's colors are being shown. Bhai Jaan who has to take out for his sister zorri zabardasti, Bhabhi who wants nothing to do with Ruhi now that she is being emotionally dependent on them. I don't understand Tajamul. He is all shareef in front of Agha Jaan but behind his back he tends to go very against them. He has no filter about what to say but he has the maturity to handle some situations as well. And now his advice to Ruhi to get financial support from AJ for Farah. Intentions were right but the way he said it? If he really supported his sister's stand to have no relationship with haveli, the first thing this man ought to do is tell her that he would support her. If not then push her to accept AJ and go live in the haveli now that AJ has accepted her as his DIL with full flair. Looks like he has ulterior motives.

Idk if Moiz has them too because sometimes he feels like he is personally interested in Farah but then he does treat her like a chota bacha as well. Too confusing.

AJ is jaan! <3 It sucks to see him so broken. The mere word 'talaaq' has him holding out for support. He has a weak heart, I wish Ruhi understood that. We learn after losing and AJ has lost so much. Now he is left all alone to make amends and that makes him miss his sons more so. AJ's guilt is magnified because he is at that stage of life where all one can do is introspect their behavior and try and try to make amends. He can't shift back to his old days where he would make decisions and expect them fulfilled without any regard to anyone. Time and tragedy have taught him the worst of lessons. In his own way he is doing all he can to make things right. He is a mature man. He knows that blaming Ruhi would only make things worse because he's been through that ziddi phase. So he only appeals to her. Man! I just love Agha Jaan! Since the beginning he has always been an intriguing character, so decisive but never away from the guilt that came from those heartless decisions. And now to see him all old and wrecked with only grief and guilt...it hurts I want this man happy! :(

@Mais - u know Tajammul has always been shown as the practical and sly one. I remember even when Behroze wanted Ruhi to come down to the haveli, Tajammul told her to go, not coz of the tragedy that occurred, but he used the words 'tumhara aur Faraa ka haq hai'. Also he's in some ways worse than Ruhi, coz he pretends to be nice to ppl in front of them, but uses unrefined words for them when they r not present.
I suppose this again is deliberately done, so tht in d future Ruhi realizes the difference between AJ nd her brother.

Coming to the characterization, I am in fact a tad disappointed with how the characters have been shown simplistically. Like Ruhi has turned totally negative and a villain, Wali is flawless, Fara is totally lost (though taht is understandable), Moiz being percieved as the bad guy and Arjumand as the eternal martyr. But I do like AJ's characterization, coz they showed how and why his character evolved. Anyways I suppose they need to knit the story around the characters and hence I'll just take it for now.

@Khamosh - He really told Ruhi to go to haveli saying it was her haq? :O I don't remember that. I was under the impression he was being the sensible one and making Ruhi go because her husband needed her. Lemme rewatch that bit...

Okay i did and yeah. He was insisting more on Ruhi and Farah being accepted into legit family members of the HAVELI. Hmmm...anyway! I don't think it's being shown deliberately to put AJ in good light by painting Tajamul as the black one here. It could be that Tajamul wants the best for Ruhi. So far we haven't seen Tajamul showing any active interest in what Ruhi's in-laws could mean for Tajamul, how will they benefit him. It could be he's thinking very long term. Turning Ruhi against the family but pushing her to accept the benefits she gets by being a part of that family.

I don't agree that the characters have been shown as too simplistically. Sure their one shade overpowers their others but that doesn't mean their other shades doesn't exist. Ruhi isn't as much as of a villain as she is someone with a very twisted and flawed logic. Wali isn't the flawless son of the house but a responsible one who IS scared of losing against the weight of responsibility and who has the hot-headed streak in him. Arjumand isn't a martyr but a woman who has the wisdom of age with her side which stops her from lashing out and being selfish and think of the greater good. Moiz isn't negative, not yet; in fact he has been shown in a positive light with the way he is pulling Farah out of her depression and forcing her to go on with her life by being her support. Farah isn't lost she is just forced into a situation where she is noticing the things around her in a different light. Her happy bubble has burst and suddenly nothing is what it used to be.

There isn't some deep dark psychology here but that is not to say that the characters have one shade only. One can call it a simplistic characterization but I perceive it as the characters being very openly explained ke this is how it is.

I too want that jaldi se jaldi she goes to haveli

I dont care about Moiz as I know he has a small role but this Ruhi is taking too much screen space :@ Farah jald se jald apne ghar ki ho jaye so we dont have to see Ruhis drama so much

Ruhi is behaving in this way because she HATES Aghaa Jaan and when hate Take Over human minds then it becomes very difficult for them to see wrong and right. Ruhi has her own reasons, of-course she is not at right BUT this is her Rude Behaviour which will break her down after her Realization

^Ruhi's behavior with AJ can be justified as a result of her hatred for AJ. She can blame AJ for Behroze's death and all her mehroomis. But that in NO WAY can justify her behavior with her own daughter. She doesn't pay attention to her only daughter who is still too young to recover from this tragedy on her own. And the way she disregards Farah's importance is something I can't digest well.

I know why she is behaving like that, but the drama is just stuck on her tantrums since the last 3 episodes
