Achint Kaur

My first job:
I was a teacher for about two years when I was living in Nagaland. I was teaching in Holy Cross convent in Dimapur. I was the class teacher for fourth standard then. But this is way back in 1989-90.
What I made: I earned about Rs 1,500 every month.
How I spent it: I don't clearly remember. I must have bought something for the house.

Manasi Joshi Roy

My first job:
I sang a jingle on the radio with my mother when I was around six or seven. It was for toothpaste and I was asked to say one of the lines. In fact, I remember two of my front teeth had broken and it was damn funny when I would say the lines.
What I made: I got 100 bucks for the job.
How I spent it: I don't remember much, but I was definitely very excited about getting the money.

Smriti Z Irani

My first job:
I recall doing this summer job where I was selling beauty products at Janpath street market. The job was offered on a day-to-day basis, with incentives.
What I made: I got 150 bucks for one day.
How I spent it: I bought gifts for my parents and sister.

Tassnim Sheikh

My first job:
During my first year in college, I started giving tuitions to students in my building. I taught children up to the fourth standard.
What I made: I made about Rs 2,000 in the beginning, but as the word spread, I began getting more students. After a few months, I began making around Rs 5,000 to 6,000.
How I spent it: I wanted to be independent and fund my own education. I didn't want to burden my parents with my expenses. I used the money to pay my college fees, and the rest was pocket money.

Rakshanda Khan

My first job:
I conducted market research for Marg. This is way back in 1995, in my college days.
What I made: I earned about Rs 1,500 every month.
How I spent it: I took my entire gang of friends out for lunch at Raj Mahal, near Xavier's.

Shweta Tiwari

My first job:
At the age of 12, I began working as a customer care agent with a travel agency.
What I made: I made Rs 500 a month.
How I spent it: For me, it was a lot of money and I used it for my own expenses. I have never believed in asking my parents for anything, I have always bought stuff with the money I earned.

Shilpa Saklani

My first job:
I worked as a receptionist at a multinational company when I was 16.
What I made: I got Rs 10,000 for it, which was a pretty big deal for me at that age.
How I spent it: I paid all my commuting expenses with it and used the rest as pocket money. I also used to eat this favourite sandwich of mine everyday, without fail. So most of my money was over by the month-end.

Sangeeta Ghosh

My first job:
At the age of 10, I began working on this show called Hum Hindustani, on DD.

I worked as a tutor and taught mathematics and science to school kids of third, fourth and fifth standards.
What I made: I got Rs 1,500 per kid and had four students.
