I don't completely blame Shaira Asmi. By this i don't mean what she did was right. Of course as a bystander her behaviour looks completely obnoxious and wild. But if i delves inside I can see a broken child. A little child who lost a father... and at the same time lost her mother too who was probably more vested in trying to find the wearabouts of her husband.. in her formative years she probably only came across people talking about where Imaan had disappeared to. And when everyone was broken Salim stood in front of her as a father figure. Salim became more important to Shaira that her mother and Imaan ceased to exist. Imaan was probably presumed to be dead by this time... and as families generally do... they moved on. From Shaira's behaviour I can see she has always been angry with Naz. Why? Maybe she got neglected as a child, with Naz worried about Imaan plus the birth of her second child. Therefore Salim is everything for Shaira.. Not Naz, Not Imaan but Salim was Shairas saviour. Naz is not a bad mother, we can see this from Ayaan's upbringing. Ayaan asks her why can you be strict with Shaira like you are with me? It's not like Naz cannot.. But over the years Shaira has become Salim's daughter more than Naz's daughter.
As I had said earlier teenagers... they think the world revolves round them. They want things to happen their way and asap. Even a sound upbring cannot guarantee a sound teen thus age is such. Shaira cannot think of a family of which Salim is not part. She doesn't hate Imaan, only she doesn't want to lose Salim. She wants things the way they were.. and she will hurt herself if that will help her case.. teen logic there. As a child Shaira did not understand why Imaan was not there.. she only understood that Salim was there for her. And when children draw conclusions many times there is no regards to logic or reason. Where Imaan was for 17 years is of no consequence here, only his absence is of consequence. An I always say that What you experience as a child carve your beliefs, thoughts and behaviour as an adult. Shaira lost a father once.. she doesn't want to lose a father again.Yes Nas and Salim should have spoken to Imaan before. But human mind is not programmed to do the correct thing always. They screwed up big time.. but again for them the whole equation is such that what is right and what is wrong has become blurred.Nas or Salim speaking up yesterday wouldn't have helped things.. rather complicated them more.. Shaira was drunk and angry.
