Here are the lyrics for the song Dhaage which I feel is picturised and written mainly for Imaan and Nazneen.
Naina mere palkon se baatein karein
Neendon mein kyun sapnon ke katre chubhe ?
Dardon se Ashkon ka nikla karva
Jaane na raahon mei jaana hai kahan
Man mera bhaage
Tod tod Dhaage
Mujhse bhi aage
Kaise ise rokun tu bata de
Jeene ki khwahishien
Jeete ji pighal
Jaise bawri si baarish
dhoop mai jal rahi
Simtega kaise yeh
Bikhara aasmaa
Behta hai baadal jo
Thehrega kahaan
Man mera bhaage...
The more and more I listen to this song, the more I feel for them. Their very delicate relationship and the complexities involved in it.
Jeene ki khwahishein, that stanza reflects how Nazneen wants to maybe be with Salim, coz she is happy with him. Yet at the same time she can't leave him coz she doesnt want to hurt Imaan. And for Imaan, this stanza comes out as how he wishes to be back to the life that he left, how he wants to live life to his fullest now and keep his family happy and give them all the love and make up for his absence. Yet, that absence has played a great role in his family and there are difficulties in adjusting to the modern era and changing values and relationships his family has now.
And the last Stanza is totally for Imaan. His deep emotions that speak of wanting to get back to his family. His world his 'bikhara', and he is the 'behta badal'.. He wishes to just stop from all this mission and India Pakistan fights and just be with his family. But he himself doesnt know if this behta badal will stop somewhere anywhere or no.
And for the chorus. Man mera bhaage tod tod dhaage
This is for Nazneen. Her heart is running away from herself. Her heart wants to forget all the ties she has with Imaan, duties and responsibilities she has as his wife, and go to Salim. Coz she feels her heart lies with Salim. Yet her conscience tells her its not right to do so, hence she is pleading and asking Kaise ise rokun tu bata de.
A very beautiful Song. And a lovely meaning to it too !
I could have got the lyrics a little wrong here and there. Feel free to correct it
