Rarely do we come across stories such as this one on Indian television. It just might go down as a masterpiece if the forces above (channel/ production etc) resist tampering with it for trp sake.
I know that this is not entirely fictional, but I am just going to focus on Imaan and Sartaj in this second phase of their life. By now each character, their role and agendas has been identified. And what a delightful mix of positivity and negativity. I am now sufficiently intrigued by all the 4 leads.

Harleen waited, took on her husband's role in his family. Completed B Com and learnt to drive a tractor. Did not want to move on. And then life brought a stranger, her own husband back in her life. And she had to move ahead. She is afraid and she is happy. Till now she was strong, but is she strong enough for what is to follow?

Naz brought up the kids, became a mini celebrity. Fought with her mother-in-law and maybe fell in love, just a bit, with the shoulder she was leaning on. And then her husband came back, who she first learnt to be in love with. They laugh, fight and enjoy each other. But a shadow looms on her marriage. Who does she belong to? Who does she want to belong to? 17 years is such a long time? Is she the same person? Is he the same person?

Sartaaj left his own wedding for his nation. Heroism brought him torture and captivity. A lot of losses were countable - a parent who must have waited for him, his hair - which for him was his faith, 17 years. And yet he gained some things which are best left unclassified - his nightmares, his pain, secrecy and Imaan. Is Imaan his friend or is he a senior?

When I had first watched the promos, I could have never guessed that Imaan would be the character I would be most intrigued about. When they first meet their families - he waits and watches Sartaaj's family reunion and then focuses on his own. His family has now increased by 2 more members - his children. A young daughter he left behind and a son who he had never met till date. He is so in control. After the meeting, immediately he gives number to Sartaaj. He has left behind his prison and refuses to be viewed as anyone weak or hurt. There is calmness but also temper. The world changed in these 17 years - internet exploded, technology changed, media intrusiveness increased and his zest to adapt to everything new while sticking to all things comforting - walkman, cigarettes proved him to be a survivor. He is a perfect foil to the ruthless, patriotic Vikram. Composed, intelligent and risk taker. And he clearly dominates Sartaaj. I am waiting for his equation with Salim to be revealed. Especially now I am wondering if Naz and Salim did get married.

The actors are well cast and so seasoned in their emoting. A special mention to Arun Bali- Sartaaj's father and the rest of Singh family. They seem to be so fond of Harleen and her well wishers too. And the father-son scene. It was too real.

I cannot praise enough the people behind the cameras too. The screenplay, the pace, the photography, the music - it is well blended. I am in love:)

This is class, this is quality.

Aah this is such a lovely post!
Love your observations about Imaan. He was somewhat of a surprise package for me as well. I was looking forward to watching the other characters' stories unfold (probably because I was familiar with the actors who play them) more than Imaan's but now, he's my favourite hands down, mainly because he's such a mystery.

Also is it just me or is anyone else shipping Sartaj-Harleen? Loving Purab and Amrita's chemistry in the few scenes I've seen thus far.

TOTALLY !!

In love with the two of them. Love their Chemistry !

Be it the first time they met, then the bath scene, after which they had multiple eye locks. And then the best would be when Harleen ties the pagdi, and the way Sartaj looks up to her. That scene was something that made me feel he began to connect to her.

Simply love these two ! And I cant wait for Monday ! I have been jumping ever since I saw the Precap ! I am so awestruck and happy and shy that I cant gather myself to sleep 😳

First of All , what a Lovely Post and so well written ...
I had hopes from the show when I first saw the Promo's , but it turned out to have such deep connect , connect with each character and their Journey ...

Sartaj-Harleen , I am rooting for them as a Couple ...there is an instant contectt with them ... The Bathroom blew me away , How well that scene was written and even better performed . The underlying Intimacy there was Wow ...yet The Scars that Sartaj was open to be seen .
the Haunting Bachgroundground added to it .

CComing to the most Complex relation Imaan-Naz , yes complex because there is lot of unsaid things , unspoken words between them , which are yet not opnely talked abt .
There is cerain Depth, Tehrav to Naz's character and Sandhya is BRILLIANTLY portraying it ...
Her Silence speaks Volume...

Word about Imaan being the MOST Intriuing one , haha and thanks for mentioning how the Technlogy evolution has been shown in teh Serial . Brownie points to teh Team for that .
Coming back to Imaan , Sharp , Calm yet Love Enjoying his Life .
Liked how one up he was with Vikram .
His comment about "Beta Baap hoon main tera"...hahah He'll make such a Coool Dad ...I am waiting to see his Relationship with teh Kids , they still have not got chnace to Bond .
Imaan was lot os Restrain and Depth ...and the Actor is doing Fabulous Job .

Have LOVED the shhow so far , Every epi leaves Lump ..
The Writing Team takes teh Major Credit ...

Would like to mention about Vikram ... Interesting Character and the Actor is Superb ...
He and Imaan are quite a Game ...😆

LOving teh Chemistry beteen Imaan-Sartaj ...PARTNERS ...Like Naz comments Today "They look like a Married Pair "...😆

@Sindhu_18 The precap had me squeeing too! But judging from the rest of it and the promo, I think they're going to focus on the Imaan-Naaz-Salim triangle this week. So I'm not expecting to see much of Sartaj-Harleen. As long as there's not much of that passive aggressive Shaira's whining, I won't mind too much. There's plenty of time for them to explore Sartaj-Harleen's story.

Great post!

I agree with you about Imaan. While all the characters here have many layers, Imaan is someone I'd like to know more about. I just don't know what's going on in his head. He's confident and calculated, headstrong too, but not enough to ignore the enemy. He definitely has control over his emotions, and the only time I see him depart from his calm demeanor is when his family, particularly his kids, are involved. Towards Naaz, I sense coldness, actually. Almost detachment at times. I feel like he's been through so much that for him, Naaz is there, but he doesn't really need her. He doesn't need anyone but himself. He's driven by his goals, and I don't think emotional ties with his wife are his main concern right now. But I look forward to seeing how that might change. I feel like the only people who Imaan would be willing to get closer to are his children at this point, if even.
On another note, I was surprised at the distance between Imaan and Saleem. They're brothers, right? They hardly seemed related at the reunion in the first episode. Have they always been this way, or did something drive them apart? Could there have been a relationship between Naaz and Saleem before Imaan left, and he found out? I'm definitely curious about the distance between these two.

First of all TM! Amazingly written post. Just too beautiful 👏

Back to TheMAchine's post. Totally bang on about Imaan's coldness towards Naz. I mean yes, He laughs with her, smiles with her but I don't see him stealing glances at her the way we see Sartaj doing with Harleen. I don't see him needing her at all, especially yesterday when Naaz was singing, she seemed so overwhelmed with emotions that she had to wipe away the few tears about to fall out, even Sartaj and Harleen seemed affected but Imaan was just there. Sitting with Sartaj like nothing is happening. No looks of love towards Nazneen, no emotions apart from the smile he anyway had the whole time. Seems like Monday will be a little different so it will be interesting to see what actually happens.
And yes, the distance between Imaan and Saleem is also totally weird. They have not sat down and spoken to each other at all since his return. Something has to explain this.

@TheMachine and Aahanaa

Word about the detachment feeling of Imaan towards Naz .
I feel it's Naz who trying hard to be as close to Imaan as possible we here as Imaan gives absolute cold vibes be the eye contact it the hugs .
He is completely diff person when he is with Sartaj or in alone , but with family there is lot of holding back done .
I won't be surprised if his cold attitude towards Naz is coz he has sensed the relationship between Salim and her , the guy is pretty smart and vigilant . Or may be there was always trouble in paradise for them even before 17 yrs .

Also it was sweet if Atan to be with Imaan throughout the party and be involved too . And Sartaj's bro too . Lovely image the 4 framed at the table enjoying the company .

Lol at Ayaan's taunt to Shyraa about "Utne hi Faile karne chahiye jitni such ho " 😆

@Aradh_27 My dear, just watch the episodes on Hotstar, you shall love them.😳😳

But the happiness is not for long 😭😭

About Imaan Salim and Naaz. I have come to love the cool facade Imaan always has around him and the bond that he and Ayaan have come to share now. But I still can't get how Salim and Naaz are ok with their relationship. Imaan is back and what happened a day before ( qubool hai moment ) must be right away forgotten. 😕
