The episode covered a lot of ground and it laid a wonderful foundation for the story; Firstly i loved how they showed the soldier hesitating to shoot on armless humans. Such a real raw human emotion to avoid violence but then having to obey and shoot.

Secondly Iman's daughter holding her chachu's hand was the most beautiful moment of the episode, Iman may be her biologcical father but she has only seen her chachu as the person fulfling the role of a father, DNA doesnt change anything. Although the return for the Sikh family is still joyous, but somewhere the Khan family couldnt decide what they were feeling .. They are happy yet they are sad, i am sorry i am bad with names but Iman's wife's hug was a beautifully enacted moment,

Then moving on to vikram saying that 17 years can even change a soldeir's heart. Loved loved it!they are moving on from glorification of soldiers where in past we have heard that everything can change but not a soldier's loyalty, they are humans and yes 17 years is a long long time!

So there is a twist, Sikh soldier said khuda haafiz, either he converted to Islam or he picked up khudaa hafiz because afterall he spent 17 years in a jail in a muslim country.

Wonderful episode!

However,, my only concern is i hope they dont make this an anti - Pakistan show bcz no matter how open minded i became, my patriotism will hinder my viewership. I hope they treat it on neutral basis that it happens on both sides!

He might have said Khuda Haifz since Imam is also Muslim..so maybe he had just become habitual in greeting him that way

It is a nice welcome change from what we get to see on TV these days. What stood out for me is the photography. I have always been in love with Punjab & the photographer has managed to capture it all beautifully. Harleen sitting on the terrace with the rising sun & Diwali lights as the backdrop & then the aerial shot of the men being brought in to meet their families deserve a special mention😳

This was the *best scene* for me ----- it was so serene, poignant yet beautiful ---- it displayed the *inner turmoil* juxtaposed against a peaceful backdrop ----- *Brilliant* ---- !!!!

Brilliant first episode and great post :)
Purab's char gave me the chills, Sartaj meeting Harleen after 17 long years was a gut wrenching scene...All four lead chars are very well written and played...a fab beginning to a TV show in a long long time...looking forward to the series and some interesting discussions on the forum.

@Queen of Andals you bought a beautiful point. Free the mind from clutches of enemy. Yes that mind battle will be the fine to watch. And I want that. Because 17 years merciless torture leaves you with more psychological scars than physical ones

Hi Shruthi...I think we were on Ek tha chandar, Ek thi Sudha show...ur DP helped me in recognizing :P
Its just myriad of emotions, confusions, hesitations. And I am loving these complexities.

Harleen never got to know her husband, she is afraid, confused, ignorant on how to approach. her greeting to him with tears melted me. It will be beautiful to see how they will start the relationship which they formed 17 years ago. I am trying harder to think what Harleen must be going trough, what is going on in her mind but I can't

Imaan's family- Imaan's wife took 17 years to decide on her future, to start a fresh and the moment she decided her past came back πŸ’”
Their hug was brilliantly done, it was as if she was trying to familiarize him
Saleem have been father figure to kids and now with return of Imaan πŸ’” Saleem literally made Imaan's family as his own, his entire world revolves around them and within a moment everything is taken from him rather snatched from him. Cruelty πŸ’”

Vikram-i loved this man, the way he thinks, his acting
If I am not wrong, he was col. Rawat in Everest...Anjali's dad
He is a brilliant actor and I am more drawn to his character πŸ˜‰

Instead of being emotional that soldiers cannot cheat, the logical thinking 17 years can change even a soldier was good ⭐️

Why can't soldiers change? the mental trauma and physical pain can force anyone to bow down. Not every soldier can have thick skin and high endurance, some might be weak too

Sartaj must have picked up Khuda hafiz...17 years are more than enough to change someone's habits n behavior and writer have smartly confused viewers.
We will be judging each n every action of Sartaj and Imaan and it will be interesting watch

Screenplay-Brilliant
Direction-Brilliant
Cinematography- beyond brilliant, i loved the real locations

@peeyara yes I was in Ek tha Chander forum. That remains very close to my heart even after a year.
You have made a wonderful post. Yes Vikram's character is what I am loving also. He is logical. And he has to be. After all it does concerns the security of our motherland.
Coming to 2 woman I loved the way they have kept it. Harleen is namesake married and has lived in Sartaj's house like a daughter than a DIL. Now to be a wife. How will she manage it.
Nazeen, poor woman once again she becomes a pendulum
