Waiting for action :)

They both blinked, not believing what they just heard. It was just really beyond words for them to react, but they knew one thing for sure. Their best friend did the right thing. Vishnu eventually spoke up, "Raji neenga inimel life la kavalaiye pada koodaadhu... Just remember we are all by your side always... You are really great Raji..." She softly smiled, "Thanks Vishnu... Neenga sonnadhe ennaku romba perusu, it means a lot..."

Lakshmi plainly just walked up to Raji and without a word, hugged her tightly, her eyes moistened in the process. "Raji, I promise to be your best friend forever in life... Ennaku vera enna solradhu nne theriyala... Inimel un life la kashtame varaadhu... You are in the safest hands possible, and that is Karthik... And you have all of us by your side... You are never alone in life from now on Raji..." It was Raji's turn to feel emotional, "Th- thanks Lakshmi... I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now..."

Vishnu and Lakshmi left to finish up the first day procedures, leaving Karthik and Raji to themselves. "Thank You Karthik... Unga-- I mean..." she hesitated to address him informally to which he smiled and assured her it was alright. "Un- Vara maatengudhu Karthik..." She pouted like a little kid. He leaned back on the pole, crossed his arms to his chest, and tightly smiled, raising his left eyebrow. She heaved knowing she would not be able to get anywhere with him. She scrunched up her face, tightly shut her eyes "Unnala dhaan ennaku en life la idhuvaraikkum ella nalladhum kedaichu irukku, I am ever so grateful to you, thank you so so much Karthik..." She spoke it all in one breath. She slightly opened one eye to see him laughing at her. She looked at him properly now, still hesitation written all over her face. "Raji naan unna adikka laam maaten..." He giggled at her as she realized how much of a fool she must have looked like a moment ago. She started to smile with him as well.

Raji was off to a great start. She did extremely well on the diagnostic tests given to her at first to gauge her level for the fast track program. Her class student count was not as high as a normal classroom, but it was not only her either. After the testing results, the sixteen students were put into a class of four on their own based upon their levels. Raji was placed with Priya, Ashok, and Pavi under their professor, Mr. Ranjith. Just like Raji, the others were equally excited for the course. They knew they were off to the best start they could have ever asked for their career.

Raji met Karthik, Vishnu, and Lakshmi during lunch. They compared their schedules to find that Lakshmi and Raji had most of the break times together, which they both were more than happy about.

As they were getting back to the lectures, Karthik pulled Raji to the side for a moment. "Raji naan unnaku unna vaangittu vandhu irukken..." She smiled while questioning him with her eyes. He took out a rectangular box wrapped in a gift paper and handed it to her. "Enna Karthik idhu?" "Open and see..." He smiled wide. She opened the box to see a new phone, "Ennakaa Karthik?" She asked, pleasantly surprised at his gesture. "Amaa unnaku dhaan... Phone illama eppadi survive pannuva? Adhaan... Pudichu irukka?" "OMG, I love it Karthik!! It looks awesome!! Thank You sooo much!!" She squealed seeing the phone as well as a cute Hello Kitty case for it. He smiled at her childlike expressions, "Also Raji... Ennoda number dhaan un phone la first save panniruken..." He grinned and winked at her. She immediately opened the contacts and frowned seeing it. He looked confused at her reaction, so he leaned forward to see what she was doing. She clicked on edit, erased the name 'Karthik' and changed it to "Mr. Husband." Karthik saw that and smiled cheekily at her.

She raised her eyebrows, "Edhukku ippadi sirikureenga, I mean sirikura?" He opened his phone and showed her number to her, in which he had saved it as 'Wifey'. "I wasn't sure if you would want to save my number like that... Adhaan safe ah ennoda peru pottuten... But it made me happy that we both thought the same way..." He said, making both of them smile.

Karthik stood outside her classroom, waiting for her to finish up for the day. He was looking through his phone when Raji came out and called out for him, "Karthik..." He looked up, "Oh hey... Ready ah? Polaam ah?" She nodded a 'yes' and they both started walking towards the bike.

Raji was telling him about his day, her classmates and all when she stopped in the middle. Her eyes were wide open seeing that, it was sure to have fallen out if she had been shocked any more. He turned to look at her reaction and started cracking up. "Before you ask... Yes, what you are thinking is true..." he said in between more laughing.

She just saw Lakshmi run up to Vishnu who was standing near his bike as he enveloped her for a hug and kissed her on the cheek. Raji did not know whether she was shocked or surprised or both. Seeing Karthik laugh his head off, made her frown. "Raji, your reaction was priceless..."He continued giggling, "Vishnu and Lakshmi are... Childhood Sweethearts..." He beamed widely at Raji, as she reciprocated the wide smile back to him. She thought it was cute, they really did make a cute pair.

They both walked up to the other two who were busy talking. "Hello love birds..." Karthik called, making them both turn. Lakshmi became wide-eyed hearing how Karthik addressed them in front of Raji. "You two shocked Raji just a moment ago... Ava reaction ah paarkanume..." Karthik started laughing again as Raji fakely hit him on his arm, "Karthik..." Lakshmi realized what he meant and started blushing. Vishnu absurdly flashed a cheeky smile for having been caught. All four stared at each other and bursted out laughing, this reaction suited none of them.

"Sari Karthik, I think we should move on... And let them be..." Raji held back her laughter as she teased them both. "Raji neenga irundhaalum illanaalum onnu dhaan... We don't mind..." Vishnu laughed his trademark laugh. Lakshmi's mouth dropped to form a huge 'O' looking at Vishnu in disbelief. Raji started giggling and walked up to Lakshmi and hugged her, making Lakshmi smile eventually as well.

"Vishnu neenga--" Vishnu interrupted, "Raji..." he called out in a shocking voice, "Ennaku onnum avalo vaiyasu laam illa... Edhukku ivalo formal ah pesureenga?" he exaggerated every word, making everyone laugh. "Sari I won't... Anaa under one condition... Neengalum enna formal ah address panna koodaadhu..." "Deal" Vishnu said and raised his hand for a Hi5, which Raji gladly returned.

They all bid goodbyes for the day, and left in their respective bikes. Karthik and Raji were riding silently, simply with satisfied smiles. Karthik tried to initiate a conversation, but what would he say? It felt weird for them both to be so silent with each other, but the words failed them miserably. Karthik kept stealing glances at Raji through the mirror, which she was not oblivious to, but chose to say nothing. Amongst all the confusion, both felt at peace deep down, it seemed so natural to be this way.

Karthik saw an ice-cream stand a few feet ahead the road. "Raji, ice-cream saapitu polaama" "Yeah sure Karthik..." She agreed, thanking him inside for breaking the silence. Karthik parked the bike and went up to the stand, "Enna ice-cream venum Raji?" "I'll take whatever you order..." Karthik smiled at her and then asked for two pistachio flavored ice-cream. Both stood there talking about their day while they finished eating. "Raji, nee bike kku po... Naan pay panitu varen..." Raji nodded and went up to the bike.

She stood there looking around at the busy streets of Chennai, when something caught her attention on the other side of the road. She stood there seeing the scene in front of her. Tears brimmed in her eyes, she felt nostalgic. He came behind her to only see her face filled with nothing but pain. His heart constricted to see her like that. Why did this girl have to suffer so much? If time couldn't heal the wounds then what will? "You will" an inner voice uttered to him.

She saw a cute little girl sitting on top of her father's shoulders, giggling in sheer joy. Her mom, although reprimanding the dad to let the girl down, was admiring her daughter's reactions. There was so much of innocence radiated in the giggles of the girl, it was definitely a sweet scene to witness.

Raji smiled looking through her unshed tears, she remembered her family. Karthik looked at her and felt Raji herself was as innocent as that little kid across the road in this moment. He felt helpless seeing Raji's face, the pain that was written all over her face. What could he possibly do to console her, comfort her?
