Sayantani Ghosh aka Amrita of Zee TV's Naaginn had a tough time shooting with her mask on recently while shooting. The actress' skin broke out rashes as the mask kept giving way because of the severe heat and sweating. The mask had to be laced with layers of glue every time it came off. The 12-hour shoot in the caves at the Chandivali studios turned out painful for the actress. Not only that, it also affected the continuity of the serial.
Says Sayantani, "I was shooting for a fight sequence with the vamp and the villain in the show. I was not supposed to reveal my face, so I had to cover half my face with this mask which was made out of fine plastic and skin. The mask was especially designed for this sequence. Because of the extreme humidity inside the caves I would end up sweating and the glue of the mask would come off. The mask had to be stuck every time with loads of glue. Also the mask was very slippery so it would simply fall off my skin. We shot for really long hours, by the time we packed up in the morning my face had broken into rashes. I also have a sensitive skin and with this heavy glue and heat it got worse."
How did the production house deal with the continuity? Adds Sayantani, "I went to the dermatologist to treat the rashes. Though the mask looked nice I requested the team members that I was uncomfortable shooting with the mask on and not to have any such sequence."
Says producer, Aroona Irani, "Such things happen to actors. It was an allergic reaction due to the heat, black smoke and the glue. But now she's fine."
