What to do in case of snakebite

• Keep victim calm and restrict his/her movement. If a person gets excited the blood circulates faster and the venom will spread quicker.
• Do not waste time waiting for symptoms to appear. Rush to the doctor.
• Inform a doctor in advance so that the anti-venom can be kept ready.
• Do not self-medicate.
• Wash the bitten area with soap and water. Do not use potassium permanganate.
• Keep the patient warm and no alcohol should be given.
• Cloth or tourniquet or band should be tied above the bite.
• Do not cover the bitten area and do not attempt to suck the wound with the mouth.
