Zee ready to launch the tale of Ichadhari Naaginn
Aroona Irani is back with yet another show, Naaginn.. Waadon Ki Agniparikshaa. This is a tale of an Ichadhari Naagin, played by Sayantani Ghosh..
Zee TV, India's largest media and entertainment conglomerate unveils an interesting saga of an ichadhari, "Naaginn…waadon ki agniparikshaa". The masterpiece that hits your television screens on Friday October 5, 2007 at 8:30 p.m. has been created by AK Films, who in the past have given Zee TV hits like Rabba Ishq Na Hove and Mehndi Tere Naam Ki.
Mr. Punit Goenka Business Head Zee TV opines, "The past one and a half years has seen Zee TV recover its sheen and glory through an excellent mix of programming and marketing. After meticulously conquering weekdays, Zee TV takes one more step towards strengthening the weekend slot. Shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Antakshari, Fun on the Run have created an audience for itself, which has encouraged us to extend the weekend slot."
Punit Goenka further added, "We have always believed in creating subjects in viewers' interest. The concept of Naaginn and it's unfamiliarity with the masses has always been of intrigue with the Indian audiences and I am confident that this show would largely appeal to them."
Aroona Irani, the lady with a penchant for churning out successful dramas is the force behind this show. Naaginn is a tale of an Ichadhari Naaginn who transforms herself to take revenge from the Rathod family that had killed her parents for attaining the invaluable Naagmani. She gets married in the same family but her duty as a wife comes in between her revenge and her love towards her husband.
The show set up in Rajasthani background has Shayantani Ghosh (Naaginn) playing the lead protagonist along with Aroona Irani, Ali Hasan, Siddhart Dhawan and Shabaaz Khan.
Tune-in to Zee TV every Friday to Sunday at 8:30 pm to catch Naaginn...waadon ki agniparikshaa.

"Naaginn", another milestone for Zee |
< = =text/>var sburl5271 = window.location.href; var sbtitle5271 = document.title; < = =text/>var sbtitle5271=encodeURIComponent(""Naaginn", another milestone for Zee"); var sburl5271=decodeURI("index.php?option=com_content&task=v iew&id=876"); sburl5271=sburl5271.replace(/amp;/g, "");sburl5271=encodeURIComponent(sburl5271); Zee TV has always shown keen interest in experimenting with programmes of different genres. "Lipstick" was India's first adult show aired on Zee, which revolved around the lives of high society people. Now, once again, India's largest media and entertainment conglomerate has moved away from saas-bahu serials to delve into part-reality, part-fantasy with "Naaginn… Waadon Ki Agniparikshaa". The saga revolves around the old Indian myth about snakes that can assume the human form when desired. Produced by veteran Aroona Irani under the banner of A.K. Films, "Naaginn" tells the tale of an ichadari naaginn who transforms herself into a woman to avenge the Rathod family that had killed her parents and made away with the invaluable jewel Naagmani. Unknowingly, she falls in love and marries a man in the same family. Thereon, her dilemma starts, as her duty as a wife and love for her husband interferes with the vendetta. Aroona Irani has in the past given Zee TV hits like "Rabba Ishq Na Hove" and "Mehndi Tere Naam Ki". Thanks to the popularity of such shows, including "Saat Phere" and "Kasam Se", Zee has given competitors Star Plus and Sony a run for their money in the recent past. The rising GRP of the channel has brought back the cheer to its management team. Punit Goenka, business head, Zee TV, opined: "The past one-and-a-half years has seen Zee TV recover its sheen and glory through an excellent mix of programming and marketing. After meticulously conquering weekdays, Zee TV takes one more step towards strengthening the weekend slot. Shows like "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa", "Antakshari" and "Fun on the Run" have created niche audiences. That has encouraged us to extend the weekend slot." Goenka added: "We have always believed in creating subjects which interests viewers. The myth of "Naaginn" has always been an intriguing subject among the masses and the audiences are curious about it. I am confident that this show would largely appeal to them." It premiered on October 5 and now "Naaginn" is being aired from Friday to Sunday at 8.30 pm. The show is set in a Rajasthani background with Shayantani Ghosh playing the protagonist. Co-stars include Aroona Irani, Ali Hasan, Siddhart Dhawan and Shabaaz Khan. During the 70s and 80s, films based on the ichadari naagin proved to be blockbusters on celluloid. The first week's report of its version on Zee has been good, too. It has already become one of the top-ranking programmes on the channel. Lead actress Shayantani, who had acted in Bengali films before shifting to a career in television in Mumbai, said: "We have incorporated reality with fantasy to make the show more acceptable. I'm also a bahu in the serial, so anyone can relate to my character. For the time being, we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope the show goes down well with the viewers." Given the channel's conviction behind each of its products and the packaging of "Naaginn", the snakes in the serial might soon be as popular as the saas-bahus of the soaps. |
