As a viewer I am more interested in the story and I really happen to enjoy it when u have strong supporting characters for the lead pair to take the story forward. I won't deny I have watched a show just for a lead pair sometimes but even then I had a threshold defined for tolerance πŸ˜† Uske baad I could not not continue. Thats the trouble with us as audience. We fall for that trap. Instead of encouraging makers to come up with good stuff we give TRP for crap and let the quality of ITV go down the drain. There is nothing wrong with fantasy. Infact I enjoy it the most provided something in it makes sense. I already feel S6 will be a disaster, Teja or no Teja.

Agreed wrt Indian fantasy dramas. There's no need to compare with GoT or Witcher level of ultra expensive dramas, just take a look at Vampire Diaries (2009) or Teen Wolf (20011) or even take Supernatural (2005-2019) as the best example for how to work with budget constraints and proper execution. The first 3 seasons of SPN (2005-08) had such a low budget coupled with bizarro mythical monsters and super weird epis at times but even that absurdity worked solely cause of the execution. And as far as mixing mythological characters with real issues is concerned, I remember in SPN Season 2 ( it was in 2006 lol believe it or not) they had a Crotoan Virus episode where they were stuck in a zombie+corona apocalyptic universe and even that worked because of the amazing mixture of humour and seriousness.

But when it comes to ITV they somehow always screw up cause of poor execution or TRP pressure or fandom wars or channel meddling and as a result they always end up forgetting the source material itself and from where the story began. Khair jo bhi ho, I'll still watch it with an open mind and see where Ekta takes it..

Even more worse was Sesha falling for Rocky in season 2. Rocky was her son in law by relation. Mathlabh Kuch bhi!

Completely agree! Infact it got cliche! Entire S2 was clichet. Minor differences being Shivangi assumed Rocky too was the bad guy whereas Shivanya knew from start Rithik had no hand in her parents' murder. The extra element was Kinshuk's character and I guess audiences loved him. But by then I had lost interest and gave up on the show. They turned Sesha into a man eater - first she lusted on her brother in law and then her son in law by relation.

Ok. But a good chemistry without a story is as good as a fancy chocolate wrapper without the chocolate inside it.

Yes, good chemistry can lead to large number of online fans of the lead couple, but what keeps people in front of the TV it is good drama. I observed my mother, she even changes the channel if it's too much romance πŸ˜ƒ. She is like "so they have nothing to show, so they are showing these two, let's see if it's something better somewhere else πŸ˜ƒ". Good chemistry and a little romance here and there at the right time can help the show, but too much of it can drive away the TV audience.

True and i had seen a Pak show Humsafar with Fawad and Mahira Khan and it blew my mind away. Story was the baap of all cliches but it was presented beautifully and they are by far the best onscreen couple I saw on TV and forget a kiss scene or any intimate scene, they did not even share a hug but their chemistry was…. No words but in ITV and especially since on SM all people want to see is a consummation scene or steamy sequence. I am no prude but u can have a good story without such explicit scenes πŸ˜†

Kinshuk character Rudra was a breath of fresh air. Frankly Rudra Shivangi had better chemistry than Rocky Shivangi. Many wanted them as a couple. Rocky had good chemistry with Ruchika than with Shivangi. Killing off Rudra & turning Rocky a Nag was a bad idea.

Pakistan dramas are πŸ‘. What more can I say: the story, the outdoors shoots, the well shaped characters, the acting, everything is πŸ‘.

At first, I didn't want to watch them, mostly because I read there is no intimacy between the leads, they only talk. Romance is not a must, but come'on, no hugs either? I said, this is just too much! I can do without any other romantic scenes, but not without hugs. They are my favourite, especially the hugs when the leads comfort each other after going through something difficult, or it's happening after they have been apart for a long time.

But when I watched them, I never felt that I was missing something. The things the couple says to one another, the way they look at each other and the way they deliver those dialogues is just ❀️. The scenes are full of emotions. That's what we should see: romance put in a context of a nice story, and proper conversations between the leads, proper apologies...

A lot of them vouched for Rudra Shivangi. Didn see that part. So cannot comment. KVB is a good actor but he was wasted in Naagin

Pak shows remind me of the shows mom used to watch in 90’s. They r re airing some of them and they r such gems. Not to forget renowned actors like SRK, Irfan Khan, Neena Gupta, Shefali Shah, Pallavi Joshi and many other talented actors we see in movies and OTT started their career in ITV and back then though the movies made were crap but the content on TV was strong. In the last two decades hardly any show was made that even came close to recreating this magic. Actors then actually knew how to act. These days it’s more a camouflage with makeup and gorgeous outfits rather than acting.

Yes... too much glamour today and too little contend. And actors back then used to make you cry only with the modulation of their voice. Now we are watching them, are mesmerized by how good they look on screen, admire them for how good they can express certain emotions, but hardly any of them makes us cry or laugh along with their character. I know some of them are trying hard, but something is lacking, they don't have the old school of acting, and the story doesn't help them much either.

Just a few hours left, and we'll figure it what if this Naagin it's up to the buzz made around it. They said they tried to shoot more in real locations and reduce the use of green screen. So far it sounds promising, at least they've acknowledged that the other seasons have gone too far into artificiality.
