Now, this is my complaint regarding the poor production values of Naagin 2.
I'm not bashing any character /actor in this post.
I was requested by Paridhi to make a post on this.
This one is a long post, but please read carefully and don't forget to give your feedback.
It seems like, from the very first, Ekta really didn't have any idea about what would be the outcome of Naagin 2, except for the fact that it would feature shivangi(with mouni roy playing double role), avantika, sesha and yamini.
Now, I really have a problem with yamini.
If they wanted her in S2, then what was the need to get her killed by shivanya taking maa kali avatar in S1?
Now, when they replaced arjun bijlani with karanvir bohra, I was kinda angry.
But later I accepted coz there was nothing to do .
Then when the S2 started, I just discovered kv's purpose in the show: to show his body .
He behaves like some roadside rowdy and then, inevitably, romance follows.
Honestly ,whole of my family was present in front of the tv to watch the "premiere episode ", and we were kinda shocked that EK has dug out a dead body from the nearest cemetery coz she couldn't get a human in time(My mom's word).
RoShiv looked like 2 blocks of log together and instead of doing something productive , they just hung around.
There was only 2 reliefs in the entire 2 hr episode : RiVanya scene in the beginning and Shivanya asking guruji how to prevent shivangi from becoming a Naagin.
Nothing like S1 1st episode where everything was thrilling and mysterious.
I'm not even mentioning the episodes after this as the main purpose of these episodes was to send Shivangi to her sasural and start her revenge.
Basically the show, at least for me , started with the entry of rudra.
I also like anky 2 and bhaisa.
Avantika and vikram were tolerable .nothing close to Icchadhari nevla of S1.
But I never found any purpose of the supporting cast of this show.
They are nothing close to divya, angad and even mathur or suri.
I know, many of them "killed" shivanya but even that "murder" was logicless.
Rocky (yes, he doesn't deserve to be a lead) was a non-existent at this time , so he really doesn't matter to me.
My major problem is the 4 supporting characters in this show.
Roumil, aaliya ,avni and gautami.
Well, gautami never really served a purpose early on the show but she was raped by sushant and finally killed.
Since she has been already kicked out by EK, so let's forget her coz even Shivangi(Gautami's only relative) doesn't remember about someone called Gautami ever existed.
But, we never got to know who IS gautami, what is her existence and all that.
Well avni and aaliya do get to fool around and mouth some dialogues.
But poor roumil.
Guy doesn't HAVE a single purpose apart from standing there like a statue in background and be busy with his phone.
If he even gets a dialogue to mouth then it's his 14 generations' luck.
I'm not mentioning nidhi, sushant, mansi coz they at least get to do something in creating more mess.
Plus sushant got turned into owlman by yamini, raped gautami and got killed for the same.
Nidhi, on the other hand, won the coveted post of "8th killer".
Oh, that brings me to another character. Aditya, the "fiance of shivangi".
The guy who entered as a semi-villain was revealed to be the 8th masked killer I think so.
Then, suddenly down the line , he disappeared and nidhi became the 8th killer.
How is that even possible? The masked man always seemed a male to me. How it became a short, fat female like much I?
Now , I've a theory . The original clickbait(aditya) left or was kicked out of the show for some reason and they planned to make roumil the 8th killer. But the actress who played nidhi wanted to leave the show for better opportunities bribed the writers so they made her the 8th killer and gave her a proper farewell.
Now, even gautami disappeared, but her track was given a somewhat proper closure .
But aditya? He simply vanished. Nobody ever mentions him. Even uttara got mentioned recently I think so .
Why take so many characters when you can't assign them a purpose ?
I feel seriously bad especially for Aryan pandit aka roumil because he's so talented . I've seen him dehleez and despite being a supporting character over there too, he had a track of his own. Maybe he too was salivated to enter the naagin brigade.
Plus if the cvs kill these honestly useless characters , then they didn't have to pay money to these actors so they can save the amounts and use that money for better sets, costumes and vfx.
Honestly , both shivangi and Rocky's naag costumes are honestly cheap, especially when they are leads of this serial.
Rudra and sesha's costumes were a slight bit better.
I didn't like avantika , vikram and shishupal's costumes. They simply looked they borrowed the costumes from some small town drama company ready to stage a low budget mytho drama.
Ok, even S1 naag costumes looked cheap .
But this time, it's kinda apparent.
And vfx! Naagin had bad vfx, but S2 has worse !
Honestly, in the 1st few episodes , the vfx was actually kinda better. Then the quality drastically degraded.
Now, mythological daily soaps like hanuman (sony) and shani(colors) are also vfx heavy .
But when you see that some daily soap have better vfx than a biweekly finite show, you're bound to feel that something is clearly wrong. Other PHs are churning out good vfx on a daily basis , but EK can't ensure a proper quality for her biweekly show.
Even her show CN is better than this Naagin crap running on our t.v..
And the storyline seems extremely stretched out. It is clearly obvious that the cvs are trying their best to extend the storyline.
Well , they had to cover the rocky origin story and ritik's death mystery.
But can't they do those in a more comprehensible manner?
They took a leap. And then turned rocky into a naag and now are talking about RoShiv past life connection.
And it's clear that they really had no story left or even if they have(like the 2 mysteries I mentioned before) they should solve them in a proper manner, connected to the main story and end the show on a high note
But they preferred to take a leap.
And now, it's hard to connect the current ongoings in the show with whatever that happened before.
Maybe the ritik thingie wouldn't sustain them long.
And talking about Rocky, I never found any logic behind his existence.
Instead, they could make him a normal guy with no connection whatsoever to the story .
Now , he's turned to naag.
Oh, his tandav! What nonsense was that.
It's no doubt kvb is a good dancer.
But what was the meaning of giving him that choreography. Probably they shot the episode the night before the broadcast, so the choreographer couldn't come up with a good choreography plus kvb couldn't practice enough.
Now, arjun is a weak dancer also, but he had enough time to perfect his moves.
Now, this lack of time and practice thing I also see in shivangi and sesha.
But mouni is a trained dancer and adaa have also got whiff of dancing since she's a Naagin since S1.
Also, his dhoti malfunction. Now this kind of thing happens in live shows. But in a tv show! Especially in a biweekly "finite show".
I swear I never saw this kind of thing even in those 7 day soaps like yhm and sns.
I mean, couldn't the production people assure if the dhoti was securely tied or not.
Even if they noticed it in the middle of tandav, they should've stopped the performance and tie the dhoti properly.
Probably they didn't have enough time to do all this nakhrabaazi.
Coz they had to send the episodes to channel within time or Ekta ma'am would eat them up !
Also , this glitch hadn't been noticed in the editing table coz they were hurrying too much to create a single episode and clearly, they didn't have time to notice such a small incidence .
And ekta also didn't really mind coz nowadays everybody is eating every thing in the name of NAagin .Plus I really doubt that she takes care to watch each and every episode, like she used to do earlier.
The lack of care is apparent day by day. It seems like the channel is forcing the PH to keep producing Naagin in order to rake in trp points and EK herself is too busy to create Chandrakanta, Raavan and her ALT balaji channel.
The purpose of creating limited episode finite shows is to provide quality storytelling and production values.
But Naagin 2 seems to break the very foundation of finite shows.
It is continuing its storyline long after the real story of S2 (If there was a story of S2) at the 1st place.
Rocky's naag roop could be done in S3.
Also , in the name of being fast paced, they're giving only 10 minutes to Ritik's death mystery (which , I think , could sustain 4 episodes) but playing old hindi love songs with RoShiv looking at each other and sometimes break into random dance scenes to fill for the lack of a comprehensive story.
Now, whenever CK is ready , they'll stop the show abruptly just when the RoShiv naag-naagin love story started its journey towards the high moment and say that the story of S2 has ended and will be continued in S3.
Of course , S3 will have an even worse story while viewers will wait for what happened to the previous story line .
Then , just like the solution to Ritik's death , they'll solve the S2 story line in 10 minutes and then introduce another enemy clan and the cycle will go on and on.
Tell me, what is the meaning of creating a finite show when you take a typical daily soap approach to the storyline , trying to run the show as long as the trps don't stop coming/replacement show isn't ready and then abruptly stop the story line before they could reach the climax and give a weak cliffhanger to the next season ?
Especially when even Saath Nibhana Saathiya storyline is looking less dragged than that of Naagin 2.
Then it's better for both EK and Colors to stop producing these biweekly finite shows coz yeh tumhare baas ke baat nahi hain.
I mean , 24 , which is inspired from the us version, was so well in terms of storyline in S1, fell totally flat on its face in S2 the moment they tried to innovate .I mean the writers of this show were even more innovative: they tried mixing S2 and S3 of the us version to create a mixture which would appeal to the indian viewers (read : give anil kapoor maximum screen time, more than he requires) and added their own desi tadka.
Result: extremely low trps even after having parvati bhabi in team(that too playing the atu head) and they had to dispose of most of the parallel story line they introduced.
Even in the last 2 episodes, the pace was sluggish and it seems like the story line was itself bargaining with the viewers and raj nayak to give the show a chance one more time.
They couldn't fit their ideas in 24 episodes.
Then I think harshvardhan kapoor's dad should've brought rights to some other detective show or create his own.
Not only colors.
Even Star plus' own finite show, Koi laut ke aaya hai seems it didn't start with a story at the 1st place.
They just wanted to jump at the Naagin bandwagon and be supernatural.
I liked 1st few episodes, but later realized they're all confused how to take the story far.
So I think EK should stop producing finite shows coz ultimately , they come out worse than her daily soaps.
