I would love to see arjun-mouni and kv-mouni to pair up again but definitely not Naagin...i prefer a normal human show for them...
i am not watching S3 and i have confirm made up my mind...
The problem with Naagin is actually the channel in which it airs.
They should have given more time to ekta to create the story properly. But they 1st gave the show extensions which actually crapped out the story.
And then they forced to air the show in October to rake in trps.
According to my friend whose uncle works in colors marketing department, naagin season 1 took approx 2 yrs in conceptualizing. So it's natural it will have a direction.
Now, colors has another finite series 24. Now I honestly think even they did the 2nd season bad cause they were more interested in getting trps with sakshi tanwar's character, which did not work.The story was also crap and mostly suffered from the below mentioned problems that naagin 2 is suffering.
But one thing I've to mention, production values were definitely higher.
Naagin 2 looks like the episodes were hastily shot to fulfill their deadline.
This problem wasn't there in S1. They looked like they had been shot keeping in mind the entire plot and the characters were able to perform their best.
24 S2 outperformed Naagin 2 in this respect. They know where they were going and properly shot the episodes according to the international format. You were definitely able to smell the thing that they were trying to get highly inspired from the US version wrt the plot, but also they were trying innovate on their own and fell flat on the face.
But 24 S2 knows where its story will be ending.
But naagin 2 does not know when it'll be ending.
They just know they'll be ending when ekta is ready with her new show.
Now I want to say the fact that plagued naagin and 24:
In films, it's the stars who pull in the crowd.
But in tv(especially in india), it's the content and characters which are the crowdpuller.
But in both the shows, colors seem to have given more edge to the lead actor/actress rather than the characters.
Now, Naagin S1 was a success because it made us fall in love with the characters.
But S2 was a disaster because they highlighted mouni roy.
Now I'm not a mouni hater.
But from a show about a snake woman, it became a mouni fest.
Well, surbhi jyoti also played 5 characters in qubool hai, but the show was still about the characters rather than the actresses.
But in S2,mouni has overgrown shivangi and the franchise seriously looks like the many rebirths of mouni roy.
Same with 24.
The U.S. Version was about an Fbi agent jack bauer, who had to do everything to save his country.
But the desi version is mostly about anil kapoor and his gang of rag tag atu officers who struggle to solve a case in only 24 hours.
Now, in a country where police is so inefficient, a little fantasy police procedural doesn't matter. After all, cid completed 20 years.
But the guys are portraying it as realistic.
But the main point is that, the characters really don't touch your heart. They marketed 24 as a show where every known but less popular actors like anupam kher, shabana azmi were appearing.
While the actors are good, they don't sink into the characters.
They still remain the popular actors as you know them.
Problem increased when they didn't get desired trps & started to market the show with anil kapoor kissing a girl half his age and sakshi tanwar playing the cop
Needless to say, they didn't work.
Why we create finite shows? To tell a story properly that wouldn't have been possible in a daily soap format.
But with naagin, I wanna say daily soaps are better. At least you can dispose of a current track that's not working
