Hey guys, I am Ruch and I am a silent reader on this forum. I binged on so many fanfics on here and now that I ran out of FFs to read, I decided to write one :) criticism and ideas are welcome.. Enjoy!
Prologue and Character Sketch included. Just getting started u see...Please let me know if its interesting enough to be continued :)

Orphans

Prologue

The flames emerged towards the sky, sending embers flying into the air. It was an eerily cool evening for a month like August. There they were, the young siblings, watching fire burn the soulless bodies of their parents.

She winced in pain but no tear escaped her eyes, Am I so heartless? she thought.

She had just lost her mother and father, those who brought her in this world, held her when she couldn't stand, walking every step of her life along with her. And now she was all by herself. Alone. Without the two that supported her. Yet she didn't feel anything. Neither sadness nor pain. Ragini (yup this is ragu) had no fear of living without her family.

In the distance she noticed a few figures, huddled around a young boy, rubbing his back in condolences. It looked as if he could fall down from weakness anytime soon, after all he had been crying continuously. For a second it seemed funny to her, that a 15 year old girl could hold it together better than an 18 year old adult. But then it hit her again,

Was she so bad, so evil that she didn't feel pain or remorse of losing her parents, her one and only family (other than her brother, yup the guy is her brother). We have become orphans. How will we survive?

Mumbai

"The new manager of Cindel Group of Companies is...Mr.Dev!"

A man walks past the reporters who frantically clicked his pictures as he made his way to the stage. The flashes were blinding those who sat behind, but not him. He stood tall, looking straight ahead regardless of the blinding flashes from the cameras. It was a proud moment for him afterall. It had taken him 3 years to reach this position, from a salesman to the managing head of Cindel Group of Co. All of it had been very quick. "But this was not it" He thought. "I have a lot more to achieve" he said in his mind while eyeing the chair of Mr.Rana, a 64 year old who had been serving as Cindel's CEO for the past 27 years. That is where I belong...

So hope you guys like this...Please share your thoughts so I can improve my writing :)

Enjoy!

Character Sketch waits for you ahead ;)

Character Sketch:

So here I haven't revealed much of the characters' personalities because I will develop them as I go on writing so for now you will have to bear with it (Saweeyyy). However, I will have a basic outline of what the character will look like (just a quick description)...This character Sketch will serve more as a family tree/trees to know who's who :D

Bear with me cuz there are a lot of characters, they will be seen throughout the whole ff

Characters:

Ragini Dixit (19 yrs old)- Calm and composed. Lost her parents when she was 15. Goes to Jaipur to stay with her aunt, comes back after 4 years to Kolkata to live with her brother. She is a kind girl, strong headed but when she returns, she has a fear. what is it?

Dev Juyal/Dixit (25 yrs old)- A self made man. Has a past unknown to the world he now resides in. A typical angry young man, only focused on business. Current CEO of Cindel Group of Co. Misunderstandings lead him to those who he never desired, but finds their company a safe haven and becomes their role model/savior.

Ritik Dixit (22 yrs old)- An emotional and caring person. Very careful with the decisions he takes and has a lot of patience, so when the line is crossed he bursts like a volcano. Left alone to take care of his younger sister when he was just 18 years. Long time bf of Shivanya Thakur and they eventually got married. Is the co owner of DT (Dixit & Thakur) Industries along with Samir Thakur. Unable to handle the responsibility of Ragini at a young age, he lets her go to Jaipur...eventually distancing himself from her

Sanskaar Maheshwari (25 yrs old)- A fierce/shrewd businessman, he leads the MM Industries with the help of his dad, uncle and older brother. Has a no nonsense attitude and looks down upon the lower classes. He is very particular about the kind of people he interacts with. Believes in finding his perfect woman, someone who is stylish, smart, social, and orderly. He does not suffer from OCD but you can totally wish to believe it because of his actions. Close to his younger brother Laksh.

Lakshya/Laksh Maheshwari (21 yrs old)- A carefree and childish guy who loves to bring a smile on people's faces. He has a tendency to flirt with a girl he thinks isn't his type. Starts to help in the family business (MM Industries)...Assisting Sanskaar in his work so that he can learn their ways as well. Very protective of his older brother Sanskaar and they share a great bond. Teases Sanky about his "Perfect woman"

Shivanya Thakur/Dixit (22 years old)- She is a sweet, chirpy girl. She loves her family a lot, along with her husband Ritik and sister-in-law Ragini. Brings Ragini out of her fear (somewhat). She is very caring and can be said that she is way too mature for her age. She married Ritik 1 year after his parents death, when they both were 19 years old. They had started off with a no commitment policy which turned into the bond of marriage quickly all owning to the circumstances. However, she is living a happy married life with her husband now.

Sonakshi Fernandes (23 yrs old)- Very bubbly and vivacious. Loves travelling and reading books alone. She loves her mom a lot as she was the only person with her since she was born. She got an internship in a university abroad and so wanted to take a tour of India along with her mother before she leaves. It is at their last tour destination, Kolkata, that she meets unexpected people and shares some beautiful experiences.

Lisa Fernandes (Rinku Karmarkar) (47 yrs old)- Sona's single mother who raised Sona by herself after the suicide of her husband before Sona was born. Lisa is a happy-go-lucky woman, you can imagine her as a total Goan lady, free spirited and happy. She suffers from an illness that she does not tell Sona about and wishes to live the most of her life. She wants Sona to settle down nicely but seeing her dreams agrees to let her go abroad for future career opportunities.

Navya Naveli (19 yrs old)- A tech savy girl who hails from Lucknow. Always gets stereotyped for being a meek and less educated girl because of her appearance. She is very loud and clumsy but has the heart of a child. She is very innocent and easily becomes Ragini's friend when they meet. Has run away from home to Mumbai in order to escape her parents. She gets appointed as Dev's temporary secretary as his old PA landed in the hospital because of her.

Yuvi Fernandes (22 yrs old)- Nephew of Lisa (Sona's mom) and cousin of Sona. He resides in Kolkata along with his parents. Very arrogant and mean to those he does not know. He becomes the tour guide for Sona and Lisa as they travel around Kolkata. Infatuation with Ragini when he comes across her.

Janvi Dixit (38 yrs old) Now Dead- Mother of Ragini and Ritik and Dev. She fell in love at a very young age (17 yrs) and had to leave her hometown of Dehradhun leaving behind a part of her soul as well. She has a heart-like birth mark on her wrist that all her kids inherit from her. She settled in Kolkata as a comedy club host and came across her future husband Dr. Akash Dixit whom she marries 3 years later and Ritik is born. They both die under mysterious circumstances.

Akash Dixit (41 yrs old) Now Dead- Father of Rithik and Ragini. He met Janvi at a comedy club and they bonded well. Within 3 years they were married and had a happy life. A doctor by profession, he was also the single grandchild of a wealthy Calcuttan stock broker who left a lot behind him as a legacy for his grandson. The legacy got passed on to Ritik and now he handles the business.

Shekhar Juyal (48 yrs old)- Related to Janvi's past, he is the father of Dev, unknown to both him and Dev. Moved to Kolkata in search of Janvi after realizing his mistake. He was a professor in Dehradhun. After several failed attempts to reconcile with Janvi, he began his new life with Leela Rajvanshi. They have 2 kids, Suraj and Jassi (step siblings of Dev).

Leela Rajvanshi (43 years old)- A selfish and cunning woman who loves money. She is an image of her father. Makes Shekhar settle along with her in her family home unwilling to give up her luxuries. Becomes a bit more responsible after Jassi's birth.

Sameer Thakur (46 yrs old)- A well-known businessman of Kolkata. The father of Shivanya, he lets her marry Ritik because of his family legacy but eventually accepts him as a part of his family. The Thakurs are in general very reserved and do not socialize much, giving way to rumors about the family which Shivanya dislikes. No matter what others say about her family Shivanya loves them a lot and like them the way they are.

Sania Thakur (40 yrs old)- A fashionista and seemingly kind woman. She has her own secrets that keep her from mingling with others. She is reserved just like her husband but provides everything to her daughter Shivanya. Accepts to help Ritik in the initial days after his parents death when Shivanya wishes to stay with him.

Rashi Mehra- Sister of Janvi and aunt of Ragini, Ritik and Dev. Lives in Jaipur along with her husband Tej, but occasionally visits Kolkata for business purposes along with her husband. A nice and supporting woman who took care of Ragini initially.

Tej Mehra- Rashi's husband. He is extremely kind to Ragini. But he has an eerie feeling, he is an ever smiling guy and never seems to be in problems. Slowly instills fear in Ragini due to which she finally moves away.

Kamal Narayan Rajvanshi- A terrible personality, he looks to benefit himself through hook or crook. He is the father of Leela Rajvanshi. Used to be close business partners with the Maheshwaris but became distant from them after the death of Dr.Akash Dixit. He is the owner of a falling empire which has been surpassed by many. He wishes to bring himself back to the top.

Suraj Rajvanshi (23 yrs old)- Son of Leela and Shekhar. Step brother of Dev. He is a hot headed ACP (got the post cuz of his grandfather but has some special qualities as well). He wishes to befriend Ragini for personal gains but eventually becomes her closest accomplice and they are best friends.

Piya Rajvanshi (16 yr old)- Daughter of Leela and Shekhar. Younger sister of Suraj, teases him a lot with Ragini and gets in trouble for it as well. She is like a breath of fresh air in the Rajvanshi family where negativity knows no bounds.

The Dixits and Thakurs reside in the same house (Thakurs moved into the Dixit house) and their house is located right in front of the Rajvanshi Mansion. Shekhar has no clue of the relation he shares with the Dixits even though he knows that Ritik and Ragini are Janvi's children. The Maheshwaris are rivals of the Dixits and Thakurs which makes the Rajvanshis unlikely to gel around with their neighbors.

So the ages for the characters is for the current time period and not during the time the prologue is written about. There will be a few flashback scenes where Ritik will be 18, Ragini 15, and Dev 21.

I know these are allooottt of characters but I do have an elaborate plan in my mind for this FF and hopefully it works well. Even though Ragini is the center of this, Ritik and Dev (esp Dev) are also main characters in this FF...their partners will also be given equal importance. It will take me a while to get started and show each character so please bear with me.

Hope you like what you see :) Vote if you do

Criticism welcome

P.S. this FF is also posted on Swaragini and Kuch Rang Forum as i wanted Ragsan and Devakshi fans to also enjoy it..😛

Hey guys! hope you liked the idea of this story. I don't really know the pattern of my updates, whenever I get time I will keep updating...not a specific time period though.

So here goes my first chapter...Really excited to know your views because this is my first ever ff in my life lol.

Enjoy and do like :)

Ch.1:

Knock! Knock! Another round of knocks followed but the sleeping beauty was unaware of it all. On the other side of the door stood a comely figure dressed in an alluring blue and white anarkali kurta, her coils of leafy brown hair tumbling to the sides. Her knuckles gently tapped on the white wooden door in an effort to get attention. "Ragu?"

The hand that was knocking now came down to the knob and turned it slowly, afraid to make any noise. Be slow Shivanya, be slow...don't make any noise! CREAKKK! Ughh! Just when I try not to...she noted in her mind, frustrated at the door.

But all this had absolutely no effect on the creature that cuddled up on the sofa, sound asleep with a pillow in hand. Shivanya walked near, calling her name a few times and placed her tender hands on the kohl black hair that flowed on the edge of the sofa. Shivanya observed the faint worry set on the girl's forehead. Her growing fondness with Ragu worried her for unknown reasons. Ragini had become something like a younger sister that she never had.

The alarm's morning flower tune brought Shivanya out of her thoughts and she ruffled Ragini's hair. "Come on Ragu, get up! Chalo jaldi se uth jao." She went near the curtains to close the balcony door that was left open the whole night, as maple leaves flew all over inside the little bedroom. She turned back and was greeted with a smiling face, eyes half shut with sleep and her ruffled hair sticking up from all sides.

"Good morning bhabhi"

"Good morning Ragu" She replied in her soothing voice. Shivanya went near her and gave a quick hug before saying "Chalo jaldi se niche aao, mein breakfast bana deti hoon" she was about to step out the room when Ragu said,

"Dada?"

"He's downstairs, kuch papers review kar raha hain"

"Breakfast kiya?"

"Nahi baba, main abhi banane ja rahi hoon. Jaldi karo, no more questions!" Shivanya said as she tried to rush down.

"BHABHI! Aj main banau?"

"Kya?"

"Breakfast?" A wide smile spread across Shivanya's face at the way Ragini questioned her.

"Sure..." was all she could manage before Ragu jumped from the sofa and ran into the bathroom

"Bas 5 minutes, main abhi ati hoon" Ragini said excitedly. Shivanya skipped down the stairs laughing.

Mumbai:

"I want it done as soon as possible. Yeh deal bohot important hain, aapke liye bhi aur hamare liye bhi. Mujhe nahi lagta aap itna bada loss afford kar payenge" He said sternly. "Apke pas sirf ek din hain Mr.Maheshwari, yeh deal kal sign ho jani chaiye. I look forward to seeing you." Dev said as he stared out the glass window, casting his eyes on the metropolitan area outside his office. He lowered his hand from his ear and shoved the phone aside, looking deeply into the horizon. Suddenly he turned around, his jaws clenched. His profile look showed off the sharp jawline on his face shaped like a steep hill. Any heart would skip a beat looking at his face.

"NINA!" He screamed, anger visible on his face.

A woman with a black knee length casual wear and 4 inch heels rushed in through the door, "yes sir" she said confidently.

"Where the hell have you been? And where the hell is my coffee?!"

"Sorry sir. I will get it for you right at this moment." She began leaving.

"Rehne do."

"Sir i will..."

"Just shut up and listen to me carefully!" He cut her off. She stood there looking at him with full attention.

"Mr.Mehta will come any moment. Tum unhe jaldi se upar leke aao. Make sure he has no trouble."

"sir, main Sanju ko bol deti hoon, woh Mr. Mehta ko leke ajayega. Tab tak mein Kolkata ke preparations dekh leti hoon" She adviced.

"Do as I say! Maine kaha tum jao" Dev said stressing on the last word.

"Lekin sir..."

"NINA!" he shouted, his anger was a level higher now. She froze, looking outside the glass room. All heads were turned to them. She could feel the eyes piercing through her like lasers. Her face was becoming hotter. "If that is what you want, I don't mind paying Sanju your pay either. He would be glad to be promoted."

"Sorry sir" saying this she walked out of the room, trying to busy herself in her phone as she made her way through the office. "Everyone is staring" she thought.

Kolkata:

"Shivanya!" He called out.

"Haan Ritik, kya baath hain? why are you in such a hurry?"

"Mujhe office ke liye nikalna hain, its urgent. I will have to leave baby. Tum dusri car leke ajana." He planted a quick kiss on her forhead before running out the door with files in hand.

"Ritik suno toh..."

"Dada" Ragini looked in disbelief at the door and then at Shivanya, standing near the table with a tray in hand. It was clear her eyes were welling up. They were sparkling like pearls as she forced the water from flowing,

"Woh.." Shivanya started to say.

"Koi baat nahi bhabhi, next time" and Ragu turned towards the kitchen.

"Kya yeh breakfast sirf tumhare dada ke liye hi tha?

"Of course not Shivu"

"Mujhe bahot bhook lagi hai, can I?"

Ragini's face brightened and she settled the tray down to serve a plate to Shivanya. "Wow this looks delicious!"

"Mexican cheese omelette and Italian herbs toast" Ragini explained. "Arre mein toh bhool hi gayi" and she ran back into the kitchen, coming out 1o seconds later with a glass in hand. "A glass of the bestest of the best for the best, mi madame" Ragu mimicked the waiters of high end restaurants, bowing as she offered Shivanya the glass.

Shivanya chuckled at her antics, "Orange juice?" she questioned looking at the orange liquid.

Ragini shook her head, "Tang. Just the way ma used to give me and Dada when we were kids. Dada always drank mine for me, I didn't like it one bit!" She said making a weird face. She drifted a few years back, when everything was so PERFECT. She saw a sudden movement near the stairs, she looked up with a poker face and let out a little smile seeing the figure on top. If she was not wrong, the person had been standing there well before she even came out with the breakfast, but it had been just now that she noticed. Shivanya also looked to see what Ragini had frowned on.

"Good morning mom" Shivanya said

"Good morning Aunty" Ragini followed

Mrs. Thakur nodded at both of them with a faint smile and then turned to Shivanya, "Please breakfast kamre mein bhej do"

"Sure thing mom" Shivanya replied as her mom vanished in the corridors of the house.

"Bhabhi, mein bol dungi, apko office ke liye late ho raha hain"

"Thik hain...Apna khayal rakna" saying this Shivanya picked her bag and strutted out the door. "The toast is heavenly!" She shouted behind her. Ragini just smiled and began to clean up.

"Today is going to be a long day" she thought.

OK so thats the end of the first part. I know its a little short and way too descriptive. Its a bit slow for now, but it will pick up pace once the characters start interacting with each other. Hope you guys like what you see. :)
