Diya is dressed up as a boy because when Ammaji and family cam to Veerpur they went straight into the mandir. Poojari ji gave them some clothes to wear but there was only enough for Santosh, Chanda, Tanisha and Jhanvi. Because of this Diya had to wear Poojari ji's bhatijas old clothes. Since then she is dressed up as a boy because if there is anything that is required for Ammaji and family in the mandir Diya has to go out and do it because she is a boy. Avtar can't go because he has hurt his leg and Karan is currently in jail. Hope that helps :)
