Hey everyone!

We seem to be having a lot of new members on this forum after the leap (welcome aboard, guys! πŸ€—) and many of them are asking for a gist of the story so far, as they have started watching the show only after the leap. So I've decided to write up a short summary of the plot to fill everyone in on the storyline. I hope it helps!

Na Aana Is Des Laado was initially set in the village of Veerpur. It was a very poorly developed rural area with absolutely no rights for its women. Ammaji was the head of this village and she was nothing short of a tyrant. To her, sons were the next best thing since sliced bread while daughters were a 'burden' that needed to be discarded as soon as they were born. Hence, no baby girl was allowed to live in Veerpur as they were all killed at birth (much to the dismay of their mothers).

Ammaji's family was as follows before the leap:

Raghav (son) and Sia (daughter in law) - They were the main leads of the show. Sia was born and raised in Delhi, Raghav was educated in London. When Sia happened to land up in Veerpur by chance, she was disgusted by the so-called traditions of the village. She challenged Ammai, fought against her and pissed her off royally. Ammaji asked Raghav to return from London, pretend to romance Sia, marry her and then break her heart. And that is exactly what Raghav did, for the love of his mother even though he was sophisticated, well educated and open-minded himself. A heartbroken Sia decided not go give up, and stayed in Ammaji's mansion as a servant to change her mindset. As the show progressed along, Raghav slowly began to understand that Sia was never against Ammaji - she was just against Ammaji's beliefs and values. He started to notice how unjust and cruel his mother was to the women of the village. That brought him closer to Sia. He saw her in a new light and fell in love with her for real this time after months and months of denial. She forgave him eventually and the two of them reconnected. Raghav rebelled against Ammaji for Sia on several ocassions. Then Sia got pregnant and it was revealed that she was carrying twin girls (now known as Dia and Jhanvi after the leap). Ammaji tried her level best to have the babies aborted/miscarried but Raghav and Sia managed to save their unborn girls each time.

Amba (daughter) - She was born to Ammaji, who gave her up for adoption because she didn't want a girl child. She grew up as a dacoit in the forests of Veerpur. The woman who adopted her revealed her true identity to her. Amba decided to go back to Ammaji's mansion to seek revenge. After several weeks of making Amamji and her sons' lives a living hell, Amba's identity came out before Ammaji. Suddenly her long lost mamta srpung back to life and long story short, Ammaji helped Amba escape from the mansion on an amicable note (why Amba needed to 'escape' is irrelevant now ... lol).

Joginder (son) and Santosh (daughter in law) - Basically, Joginder was a chavinistic jerk who blindly worshipped his mother and abused his wife in the name of 'tradition' and 'culture'. He strongly believed in his mother's theory of wives, sisters and daughters being a menace to the society. He was impotent and a series of unforunate events led his wife to sleep with her ex-lover and get pregnant by him. She gave birth to a son, now known as Karan after the leap.

Gajender (son) and Sunehri (daughter in law) - These two were a comic pair at the beginning. They shared a great relationship and were mainly obsessed with getting their hands on all of Ammaji's wealth. They had a son together. Eventually their story took a serious turn and they almost split for good (he had raped her one night after a brawl) but things were settled between them and they reconciled for their son. That son grew up to be Aditya after the leap.

Avtar (nephew) and Chanda (daughter in law) - A very genuine couple, they loved each other wholeheartedly. Chanda gave birth two girls twice but they were killed mercilessly by Ammaji. Assuming that Chanda could only give birth to baby girls (what a twisted theory, lol) Ammaji got Avtar married to someone else which he hated. That woman didn't last very long in the haveli, as she was just a golddigger who ran away with whatever little she could get her hands on. Long story short, Avtar and Chanda got back together and finally, she gave birth to a son. He grew up to be Rajveer after the leap.

Sheela (sister-in-law) and Dharamveer (brother-in-law) - They were Ammaji's devar-devrani and the parents of Avtar. Dharamveer was a good for nothing and uselss power obsessed freak who didn't give a damn about anybody but himself. Sheela was very warm and kind-hearted. She treated Ammaji's daughter-in-laws excessively well and was loved by all. Dharamveer was killed by Avtar before the leap. Sheela also had a daughter named Jhumar whose identity she hid from everyone (including Dharamveer) out of fear that Ammaji would kill her. She grew up as the daughter of one of the maids. The truth came out one day and Sheela had to face hell for this 'crime' of hers. The girl died before the leap, though she was not killed by Ammaji.

Bhanupratap - He was Ammaji's sworn enemy. She had wronged him and his family several years ago and he hated her with passion. He made it his lifelong mission to destroy Ammaji and her entire dynasty. He killed Jhumar, almost murdered Sia-Raghav and nearly blew up Joginder.

What triggered the leap:

Bhanupratap and his men attacked Ammaji's mansion from all sides. Unable to fight him, all the family members gathered whatever they could (clothes, jewellery, personal belongings) and ran away from the mansion. They were on the run for several days, with Bhanupratap following them relentlessly with an aim to murder the entire clan. Amba re-joined the family to help them fight off Bhanupratap. He caught up to them and in the process, Sia went into labour. She gave birth to Dia/Jhanvi and died immediately. In the midst of chaos, the twins were separated. Raghav got Dia while Amba got Jhanvi. Some misunderstandings led him to believe that Bhanupratap killed Amba and Jhanvi. Raghav handed Dia over to Ammaji and made her promise she would let her live. Then he breathed his last. Ammaji and the remaining members of her family fled Veerpur and moved to Delhi. Meanwhile, Amba shifted to Delhi as well, and raised Jhanvi as her daughter.

After the 18 years' leap, in Delhi:

Ammaji is well settled in the city and has a large business empire (talk about creative 'liberty', lol). She's respected by the community, blah blah. The other family members who survived the Bhanupratap disaster are Joginder, Gajender, Santosh, Chanda, and Sheela. They have adopted to their new lifestyle and have left their past behind. Amba is coincidentally living in the same city with Jhanvi, although the family thinks that the two of them died before the leap.

New generation:

Dia - Raghav and Sia's daughter; she's reserved and meek. She is disliked by Ammaji and was raised to believe that her very existence was futile.

Jhanvi - Raghav and Sia's other daughter; she's very headstrong and outgoing, and was raised by Amba.

Karan
- Santosh and her ex-lover's son; he doesn't know that Joginder isn't his father. Both Ammaji and Joginder resent him.

Rajveer - Avtar and Chanda's son; he's a brat of the highest order and has been spoiled rotten by Ammaji.

Aditya - Gajender and Sunehri's son; he's one of Ammaji's favourites. He shares a good rapport with all of his cousins.

Shaurya - He's an RJ and Dia's love interest. A few articles claim that he will turn out to be Bhanupratap's son, but nothing has been confirmed on the show as yet.

******************************************************************

So anyhow, that's it. I hope that helps. 😳

Actually, it was BP's sister who had an affair with Ammaji's husband. BP himself is unrelated to Ammaji's family and hence Shaurya-Dia aren't like siblings in any way. 😊
