Na Aana Is Des Laado, the story about a village in India, Veerpur, where the main head, Ammaji, is against girls being born and so commands the village to kill baby girls as soon as they are born. This is obviously not legal or a good deed, but totally the opposite.
But the real question is, is it really Ammaji who is the bad one? Or is it not the one who actually kills the baby girl for example, by drowning her in milk or giving her a piece of glass to eat? Personally I have recently heard that the real guilty culprit is the one who has the feelings to commit and evil act first and it is not the one that commits the evil act. The one who commits the evil act could be doing so forcefully or can just be following orders or their duties. So is Ammaji the bad oneor the one who actually kills the baby, who potentially could stand up to Ammaji and save the baby girl?
Also, we can't just look at things from one point of view. So, can't Ammaji be explained then? I think so. Ammaji was probably grown up to believe that female infanticide should happen and must be continued. She was probably socialised into thinking this. A very simple example of this socialisation process, is the way most people are brought up to believe in God and not to do anything bad. Is there any other ways Ammaji can be explained? Also, as above mentioned, the real guilty culprit is the one who has the feelings to commit and evil act first and it is not the one that commits the evil act, so does that make those who raised Ammaji worse?
Ammaji also uses the boys in her family to aid her in all of her bad deeds. She almost controls everyone and can be compared to people like Hitler. What are your views on this? Is controlling people a good thing or a bad thing?
Do you think the whole idea of female infanticide can be justified through means of religious practices or beliefs? Can it also justify sacrificing any kind of living organism, but mainly humans of any age?
Lastly, I'm not trying to say Ammaji is good, just for you to look at the other side of the coin and that Ammaji can represent those heads of the villages in which this actually happens. Of course this is a bad thing, but if you have been brought up to see bad things as being good, then this is very very harmful.
These are just a few of the questions that come out of Na Aana Is Des Laado. But thankfully, it is only a serial to make us aware of real-life. Also, Sia, our main protagonist has also arrived to hopefully end Ammaji's "regime".
