Akash Wadhwa, TNN | Apr 25, 2011, 11.36am ISTActor and director Deven Bhojani aka Gattu who was missing from TV ever since his last serial " Ba Bahu Aur Baby" went off air is presently enjoying his new character on television as Mrs. Tendulker.
This time Deven has brought a comedy ka tadka by playing a househusband while his wife is a manager at a bank. But Deven may be known for his perfect comic timings on screen but in real life he is just the opposite. "When people meet me they just fail to understand that how can a serious person like me can have the viewers in splits," says Deven. He further adds, "Totally contrast to the reel life, Deven in real life is an introvert and shy person who doesn't talk much. Let me put it like this that I prefer to save all my potential humor for my characters."
Hollywood calling
And though Deven may not be working all this while but he made sure that he made the most of his break. "After "Ba Bahu Aur Baby" got over, I wanted to take a long break as I had been working continuously all this while. So, first I took my family on a long vacation and then once the vacation was over, I did what I had been wanting to do for a long time - a course in direction from the University of Southern California. It has been my dream to learn direction from there so that I can enhance my direction skills on TV," he says.
Acting smart!
After working as a director and actor, Deven still feels that acting is what gives him more pleasure. He adds, "I enjoy working as an actor more. Direction mein bahut saare pange hote hain. You have too many responsibilities on your shoulders as a director. I just love the whole process of acting. I just love to get into the skin of the character that I am playing."
