I sat at the table stirring my hot cuppa tea
A fruit pie with peach cream I didn't even see
A worried frown on my face as I ate the muesli
I worried about my friend across the seven seas.
The day was dull, the clouds filled the blue sky
My concentration was gone and I could tell why
Some one far away was to be put through a test
My Sakhi was harried by an exasperating pest.
I sat in my carriage and returned over the bridge
The buggy jolted as it ran noisily over the ridge
T'was the end of day for me but what about her?
I prayed that things would change for the better.
The water ran gurgling by but I did not heed it
The birds cooed in their nest but I didn't heed it
The clouds descended down but I didn't see it
My heart prayed for her - I hoped she'd heed it.
I lay down on my bed my lashes floated down
In the silence of the night there was not a sound
I saw a beautiful valley with the flowing stream
Was this real or just a part of my dream?
The firs stood upright and with them I did plead
I spoke to every flower and to every seed
Will she be okay, will she have a reason to smile
Will her anxiety go away in just a little while?
I reached the end of that most ethreal forest
A figure was there in white looking the purest
He was writing with his plume in golden ink
I was so mesmerised, that I just couldn't think.
Who was in the gazebo.... .God or a holy man?
I couldn't reach him due to the water's span
Oh take my message across, ye divine birds
And exactly express my thoughts in simple words.
The leaves looked purple in the blessed light
Flowers growing on the banks were such a delight
My heart almost stopped its beat at this lovely sight
I hope my friend is spared and is no more in fright.
