That is specially for you..............Sprite.
Why do we indeed return
Why do we our night lamps burn
Why do we want to share
Why do we show that we care
Why do we converse
Be it prose or verse
Why do we come here to rest
In this place we call our nest
Why the urge to reach out
Why the need to sing and shout
Sweet memories like wispy clouds
Envelop us in ethereal shrouds
Nothing will ever keep me away
For here it is that I love to stay
The peace I feel here no sorrow can kill
A forum thats blessed and fun-filled !

Hi,
Just thought I'd share what happened in class today. Let me first tell you a little of each of the two children involved in the event. One is a young girl of about seven. Born prematurely, she is rather weak physically but extremely large hearted. She has reached her milestones six months late and is a slow learner, with very poor eyesight besides being deaf. The other one is a boy who is about 12 deaf and with a lesion at the base of his brain. It remains benign and the doctors have asked his parents to let him be(i.e. not operate). When he first came to school we as educators were petrified because this child could not control his motor movements. He would just fall while walking fast or hit the wall because he'd walk zig zag. But he's made heaps of progress. Although he still has a poor gait, he no longer falls or bangs against the wall......... but still weeps at the drop of a hat.
Today, their teacher took them to the computer room to make Diwali greeting cards on the pc. He is not gr8 at art but loves to participate in all activities. It was just unfortunate that his pc blinked. The teacher tried to revive the pc but it had collapsed. So she told him to sit in class and await his turn. He thought he was being punished for spoiling the pc. He started to weep and believe me he can beat any Indian actress at shedding tears. His bawling could be heard down the corridor. The teacher told him to first stop crying and tried to explain things . The little children were all looking at what was happening. This little girl got up from her place and went to him. Don't cry she signed to him. The pc went off because the wire broke. His bawling stopped instantly and they started to discuss which wire probably 'broke'. She told him to sit on her pc if he wanted to. But he was gallant and said 'after you'.
We had such a laugh in the staff room. While the teacher was so earnestly trying, this little lass did it in a jiffy. But it was good to know that the children were sharing and showing concern for each other.
Somewhere we felt our day was made......... so all of us added half an extra spoon of sugar to our tea.
When one of us achieves, we all achieve.

Skep ... my dear .... that was beautiful .... thanks for sharing ...
We adults never accept it but our approach is always bogged down by reason / logic / propriety / praticality / ....... and God knows what !!!!
But children ?? .... they just take it as it is .....straight to the heart of the matter ...... no beating around the bush .... and it works !!!!
We've got so much to learn from them ....... if only we stop and watch .... and listen !!!!!
