Televisionpoint.com Team Her reel name might remind you of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's superhit of the 70s and her chirpy nature of Jaya Bhaduri who played the lead and mellowed a drunk, violent Amitabh Bachchan. But the Miilee of the small screen shoulders the responsibility of tuning an entire disoriented family. "I went to Mumbai to model in television commercials and enter the film industry. My initial reaction to the serial was a complete no. But when I heard the script I was convinced. It was not the usual saas-bahu story. It was a characteroriented script where the entire plot revolves around one person, Miilee," informs Mona.
Speakings about her role she explains, "Miilee is a multi-dimesional character with varied shades of drama, emotions and romance. The best part is that I share a different chemistry with all the characters in the soap, which makes it all the more interesting."
However, Mona doesn't find much similarity between her reel and real life. "Miilee has been portrayed as a very innocent and simple girl. But I don't consider myself to be that innocent and emotionally weak. The only common aspect in us is our bindaas and tomboyish attitude."
A pass-out of Venkateshwara College, Delhi University, Mona started training in various aspects of acting soon after school. "I was never interested in going to college but my brother forced me to do so. After my 12th, I joined Khilona, a children's theatre group run by ex-students of NSD. After Khilona, I became a part of another troupe Antara, which did prosceniums and played the lead in a number of street plays in Shabnam Hashmi's Sahmat."
Though currently busy with her television assignments, Mona has already received offers for films and does not mind doing bold roles.
"I do not believe in skin show to attain my goals but at the same time I won't mind doing dare-bare scenes if the role demands it. I am getting a number of offers but I am not I am not in a position to consider them because of busy schedule," says Mona.
