Miilee takes a break
The serial will return after six months with a new look and probably a new Miilee too
Ram Kamal Mukherjee
From June 8, the Raman Kumar-directed and Vinta Nanda-produced Miilee will go off-air, only to return after six months in a new look.
"Miilee is based on a Spanish serial White Angel which has taken a break. So, I had to take this break. But I will return once the Spanish serial returns," says Raman Kumar. Incidentally, the new serial will be aired in Star One and not Star Plus where it is being aired currently. "During this break, my team will be working on new story ideas," says Kumar.
Recently it was reported that the lead of the serial Mona Wasu's contract had expired and she was not interested in continuing with the serial. Does that imply that there is a new Miilee in the offing? "It is true that the contract with Mona had expired, but we have renewed it. It's also true that Mona is keen to act in films, but she has also agreed to be a part of the second season. At the same time I am not ruling out the possibility of casting a new face in Miilee if Mona decides not to work in the serial after all," he says.
During the six-month break, Kumar will be directing a serial which has been funded by Unicef. "I can't sit idle, and need to keep doing something creative," he says. But is he confident that he will be able to win over audiences after this break? "If Kaun Banega Crorepati Dwitiya can be popular, then I don't see why Miilee cannot. Miilee is popular and I am sure that audiences will love it the same way as they did, if not more," he says.
