Besides Gaurav Chopra and Sumeet Raghavan who are playing John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan's role respectively in MTV's Ghoom, a spoof on Dhoom, the third character of Uday Chopra will be essayed by Ajay Gehi.

After delivering some sensitive performances in Vishal Bharadwaj's Maqbool and as Rahul Rastogi in Millie, Ajay Gehi is excited about this television spoof.

"Producer Shailesh Dave and I worked on a TV show a long time ago. He was fully aware of my ability to handle comedy and was keen on casting me in Ghoom," says Gehi. "But when he did call me, I had reservations about doing this spoof since I had done a serious underworld film like Maqbool and then played the romantic lead of Rahul in Millie. I had not attempted comedy in the past two years and was unsure about taking it up. But then I asked myself why not?" he says.

Gehi is excited about playing the role of Uday Chopra in Ghoom. "It's a 45-minute movie and the first of its kind. It's a rarely attempted genre and a spoof would be quite exciting. Although I play Uday Chopra's part in Dhoom, the name of my character is not Ali but Neil. There are instances where you can draw parallels between my role and the original, but apart from that all the situations are treated in a comic manner."

With Ghoom to look forward to, Gehi has moved on since his Millee days. "My track in Millee went for a toss. I had no issues with the channel or the producers, but I was uncomfortable with the turn of events in the serial. Millie is the past now and I am looking ahead. I am on the verge of finalising another film which will kick off soon. I'll also be doing some television. It's too premature to talk about but it's definitely in the offing," says Gehi.

With plenty of work coming his way, Gehi is optimistic about the future.

"Life is treating me very well right now," he says. "It has been a roller coaster ride for me right from the start of this year but things are finally falling into place. Ghoom has come as a welcome relief and there were no hiccups during the film's making. Now I am eagerly awaiting its release on June 2," says Gehi.
