Well, there is no missing 1, cause the men ended up paying 27 not 30. Of the 27, the manager got 25 and the bellboy 2. 😊

When you say 'lied', do u mean like kept the apples in the basket? If so, I will have to say it depends on where the brother ate the apples from. If he ate from the same basket, then there will be 11 else there will be 13 in the basket.
