Autumn, also known as Fall, is the third out of the four seasons in the year. It falls between Summer and Winter. In the Northern hemisphere, it starts in September and lasts through October and November, whereas in the Southern hemisphere, Autumn falls in March, April, and May.
During Autumn, the days start getting shorter as leaves begin to change colour and fall off the trees, in preparation for new leaves to start growing in Spring. It is also believed that babies born in Autumn live longer than others.

You need to write a one-shot story between 250-500 words based on Autumn. BUT. it's not as simple as you think...
Step 1: Choose only one genre from these - Horror, Crime/Mystery, Fantasy.
Step 2: Choose 2-4 characters from the list below to include in your story. These characters must be the main characters in your story. You can add others if you want to, but the 2 to 4 characters you choose from the below list must be the leads and must feature prominently.
- Devki Gopal Verma (Tu Tu Main Main) - A loving mother and mother-in-law both, Devki puts her family above everything. She will stand fiercely in protection of her family if anyone tries to harm them, but also enjoys having verbal spats with her daughter-in-law to pass the time. She is a progressive thinker who does not believe in putting barriers on anyone.
- Sweety Mathur (Hum Paanch) - Beauty without brains, Sweety's sole purpose in life is to be Mrs. Shah Rukh Khan. It is only her duty (according to her) to open the house door, whenver the doorbell rings, with a song. She has a disciple in the form of Babli, who is actually a dumber version of her. Sweety is unable to take any situation seriously.
- Sub-Inspector Asha (CID) - A smart, outspoken, and daring officer, SI Asha was part of the initial team of CID. She worked hard, had an eye for hidden evidences, and sometimes deduced what no one else was able to find. Even in her hardest times, she would immediately step up to help a person in need or her team.
- Maya Sarabhai (Sarabhai vs Sarabhai) - The epitome of high class society, Maya Sarabhai knows her position and flaunts it. Sarcastic and witty at the same time, Maya can destroy anyone with her words, while appearing charming. She has a love-hate relationship with her daughter-in-law, Monisha, though she is also quick to protect her family (including Monisha) if the going gets tough.
- Jiya Malhotra (Shararat) - A typical 18-year-old, Jiya has magical fairy powers that she often ends up misusing, by accident, when trying to solve a problem. Many times this ends up putting her father or her friends into awkward and troublesome situations, though she does manage to typically find a solution by the end.
- Bulbull (Bulbull) - She was a sweet, caring girl who got mistreated and misused by everyone around her and she died in the process. She returned as a witch who took it on herself to ensure that no female child or woman was ever wronged with her around. She made the journey from innocence to strength.
- Bittu (Munjya) - A timid young man, Bittu loves and is deeply attached to his grandmother. When he gets haunted by Munjya, he originally tries to get rid of Munjya, but undergoes a transformation himself as he develops into a stronger and more open person who will stand up against the wrong.
- Sameer Diwan (Dekh Bhai Dekh) - A smart and charming man, Sameer is fluent in the stock market, a loving father, a darling husband, and an ideal son. He can come up with smart ideas to get out of any situation, has a funny bone, and often enjoys playing pranks on his family members.
- Vincent George/Vinnie Sir (Hip Hip Hurray) - A smart and dashing man, Vinnie Sir teaches English at DeNobili High and always has a solution to any problem. The 12th class students treat him as their mentor and go to him whenever they need help or want to help society. He is a just man, who looks at both sides of an issue before making a decision or finding a solution.
- Professor Pyarelal (Professor Pyarelal) - An absent-minded professor, Pyarelal has a small problem of forgetting things (up to and including his name at times). His forgetfulness often gets him and his family into trouble and once the trouble is solved, he forgets that he was the cause of it to begin with. Nonetheless, he loves his family a lot and is first to offer anyone a helping hand.
- Vinod Verma (Yes Boss) - A married man, Vinod often flirts with Meera Srivastava, a fellow colleague. He has a love-hate relationship with Mohan Srivastava, Meera's husband (Vinod doesn't know this) and will often get Mohan into trouble and has a love-hate relationship with his wife, Kavita. Sometimes his own antics will get him into trouble, but he has yet to win Meera over. Despite this flirtatious nature, overall Vinod is a good boss and a good person.
- Mohit Kishenchandani (Khotey Sikkey) - Mohit is a rich kid, who is an alcoholic simply because he has never gotten love or affection from his busy parents. Once he met the other khotey sikkey, his life changed. He is still a pessimist in many situations and often seems detached from emotions and love, though if anyone even thinks about hurting his friends he immediately puts his own life on the line to save them.

Please make sure your story is written in English (a few Hindi words are acceptable but majority must be in English).
DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR ENTRY ANYWHERE! Your stories must remain anonymous to ensure fair judging. Any entry seen to be advertised anywhere will be disqualified immediately. Once judging is complete, we will announce the results and after that you are welcome to advertise your entries.
Beginners cannot participate in this contest.
Winner(s) will be decided by jury judging only.
