Lol, sobbing story of immunity pin was mehh. 😆

Nayan- Boy, he's damn creative but he forgot the honey. Looking forward to the presentation eveb though the glazed chicken isn't something.

Priyanka- Still sticking to desserts. 🤦‍♀️

Swarna- chilli ice cream? 😲 Damn, let's check it out.

Priyanka- Ranveer's comment over unbaked meringues was vague (when he was w/o Vikas & Garima).

~~~
Nayan- Quite colorful plating. Mustard sauce looked quite eye-appealing.
Swarna- concept of spicy ice cream was nice & clever. Dish was well-presented.
Sachin-Plating was bit ordinary looking but the wasabi-spinach brought out some color. Good balance of flavors.
Priyanka-I felt it was simple dish and was wary of the caramelized sugar at the last minute.
Deepa-Dish was looking poorly presented. I felt she was checked out from the competition.
Priyanka - I don't think it was fair that Ranveer went to Priyanka and pointed out her mistake with the meringues like that. That should have been a learning moment for her from tasting. I do agree with the chefs. It reminds me of Ondrilla - she always just stuck to desserts and often making creams of sorts. It felt the same for Priyanka today.
LOL, not only the infamous Oindrila but also Ashima (MCI-S5). 😂
Sachin - I liked Ranveer's comments to Sachin. He wasn't trying to demotivate Sachin, but rather tell him where he was going wrong to make his dish better. It almost seemed like he wanted Sachin to stay today. I'm glad that he listened to Ranveer and changed his idea a bit because it seems like chefs really enjoyed his dish.
Deepaji - Either they didn't show it or I missed it, but it felt like the chefs didn't go to Deepaji as much today. They sort of left her alone almost until she had no time left. I felt that Deepaji's dish was the weakest in terms of presentation today.
Nayan - His concept sounded interesting and I love how he quickly adjusted for forgetting the honey. His plate also looked so beautiful. I'm vegetarian but his dish looked so gorgeous I wanted to try it! Aww I'm so glad that the chefs loved it so much! It definitely looked that great.
Suvarna - Nice idea! I was expecting some typical Maharashtrian dish from her as well, but she went the sweet route instead. I love how Vikas's face lit up as soon as he took a bite. You could just see it from his face that he liked it a lot.
Chefs did went to Deepaji’s counter one time was chef Vikash and he gave her advice in smoking equipment and second time all three went again gave her advise.
Me too I love how he made that caramel used instead of honey I thought may be he would get panic because he forget the honey But he did so well in that instead of panicking he thought the alternative in a calm way. His dish looked so beautiful and I am sure it tasted well too but I found the concept and idea bit of repetitive like that pomegranate glazed fried chicken though.
Bold- exactly. Concept was bit similar to the pomegranate glazed chicken. I have to disagree with the judges that this was his best dish even though it was pretty colorful & nice looking. It was ths pomegranate glazed chicken & party platter that were his best dishes so far.
So today all contestants got either an ingredient or a cooking tool to use. I liked all the cooking tools and would’ve preferred them to ingredients.
Kamaldeep got a coal burning sigri/mini tandoor but she gave up her immunity pin. Why did she cry so much? I mean is it a rule that you have to cry to give up the immunity pin?
Nayanjyoti - he got yellow mustard (all the way from South America). He wanted to cook a chicken and glaze it with a classic honey mustard glaze. But he forgot the honey and improvised by making caramel with sugar. The judges came to his table and Vikas taught him to make pickled mustard seeds. He served grilled chicken glazed with caramel and mustard, pumpkin purĂŠe, pickled mustard seeds and a mustard chutney. The judges thought the use of the pumpkin purĂŠe was good to cut the pungent flavours of mustard. His glaze was shiny and his playing looked lovely. Infact the judges felt that it was his best dish so far. His was the dish of the day.
Suvarna - her ingredient was bhool jholokia. It was nice to see her not make a thecha out of it. She made a bhool jholokia ice cream. While everybody is impressed that she chose this, hasn’t chilli ice cream been made this season already? Anyway, it was smart to mix chilies with milk, cream and sugar. That will automatically bring down the heat drastically. She called it a Mille feuille, but made a shortbread pastry instead. It was the best shortbread Vikas has had. Presentation was like a regular Mille feuille with some berries on top. Overall looked good.
Sachin - he got wasabi as an ingredient. I think his ingredient is tricky; too much wasabi and it takes over all your senses (not in a good way), and it doesn’t pair well with many things. But I was also happy that he got wasabi, I love wasabi, although I only have it with sushi. He made a fresh noodle bowl with a spinach - wasabi - coconut curry and a prawn tempura. Ranveer came to him and told him that once wasabi takes over your senses, you’ll taste nothing else. So he didn’t add wasabi to his prawn tempura and only used it in his curry. Plating was simple, but the addition of curry elevated it. The curry had a beautiful green colour. All judges found his dish comforting and thought he did well to use spinach whose sweetness mellowed the pungency of wasabi.
Priyanka - she had to use a blowtorch. She made a Bong Alaska (Bengali version of bomb Alaska). She made a kafir lime cake (it tastes like gondhoraj lemon), a coconut ice cream and the meringue. She chose a French meringue, but the judges told her that normally it is baked and the meringue cooks. But since she wasn’t baking it, it could still be raw. She tried twice to make an Italian meringue but her sugar wouldn’t melt. So she went back to her original plan and did well. Her dish looked like a proper bomb Alaska does. I can’t imagine plating it another way. But the judges didn’t think the plating was masterchef level. Really don’t understand what they want. She was in the bottom two.
Deepa - she had a smoke infuser (or whatever it’s called). Basically a tool used to impart a smoky flavour to dishes quickly. She chose a fish and smoked it. Then she coated it in a green masala and steamed it. Looked similar to a patrani machchi. The judges then came and told her that steaming would take away a lot of the smokiness. So she decided to smoke her sauce. Her plate didn’t look particularly good. All judges liked the masala on this fish, and although it would’ve tasted a lot better had it been pan seared. Her dish lacked smokiness, and her sauce was a dud.
It was sad to see Deepa go. She’s been one of the most versatile and has cooked a variety of cuisines and dishes that were exceptional. I think her food knowledge is tremendous. I think I caught a glimpse of Vikas wiping away a tear.
Next week is a race for ticket to finale. We already know Aruna is most likely to win it. If not her, it’ll be Gurkirat. Since Aruna and KDK have already won immunity pins. These three are the judges favourites at the moment.
Yeah but compared to others it felt like very little attention. Vikas taught her how to use the smoking equipment, but the advice only came when she had like 15-20 minutes left.
Goes to show that Nayan has improved quite a bit over the last 6 weeks or so. Instead of panicking and going into a freeze, he quickly changed his idea and kept going. It did feel like a repeat, but then everyone's dishes feel like a repeat at some point.
Deepaji was being ignored this week along with Sachin they had to eliminate from these two so that’s why didn’t come to her table much.
Absolutely it’s shows how much he has grown in all these week.
It was nice that he didn't do an entire dish of wasabi to make it a prime hero of the dish since its spicy & part of the curry only. If someone were to eat the wasabi-flavored prawn in a small bite, I feel that would be more than enough and then one has to drink milk to rub off the spice (each individual has spice tolerance so preference might vary).
Taste wise there may have been very good dishes here..but few were so eye catching..will remember the look.
Sachin's Zec Zec
Gurkirat's coffee ganache
Santa's blue momos and north east thali
Nayan's pomegranate glazed chicken (that glaze color is unforgettable)
Aruna's Black carrot halwa(many said it's common..it is but color was eye catching)
