We Bengalis celebrate Poila Baisakh by going to amandir in the morning. We also wear and exchange new clothes with family and close friends. In the afternoon, we cook and enjoy a yummy Bengali cuisine (cholar dal and aloo bhaja). In the evening, we go to the shops which we know very well and make small purchases and they gift us Bengali calendars and sweets. As traders in other parts of India do puja of their account books on Diwali, Bengali traders do it on Poila Baisakh.
