The concept of the show is great. But I'm not satisfied with how it unfolds. The sets and the costumes looked gorgeous, the leads had sizzling chemistry and were good actors to boot. The supporting cast also was good. But it wasn't developed properly. I'll blame the writing. They had so much potential.Same problem as with Chand Jalne Laga.Rushed to the wedding without developing the romance properly.
Characters were also not developed properly. Raina is a one-note villain. Why was she painted black for not being willing to hand over her baby to her elder sister? It's her and her husband's decision whether to keep the baby or not.
When I go and watch all the episodes again, this is what I noticed as well so I totally agree with your perspective here. There were so many interesting arcs they could have explored and enough material to run the show for at least 1.5 to 2 years if they had built it out properly. It's like they had each character sit in a cocoon and their interactions with other characters could have been really amazing but was wasted. Such a shame they couldn't maximize the sets and costumers (one of the few shows where dressing was top notch and classy of all actors, rather than the typical bling and eyesore we get). They had such senior actors like the ones playing Taiji, Dadaji, and of course Brij, and they failed to make the most of it.
Raina and Suyesh both could have been great villains. I bet they changed the father from Suyesh to Rohan last minute because they actor wasn't shooting anymore even though everyone knew and announced that it was Suyesh. The concept would have done wonders to change things in ITV if they'd done a better job of writing. Also, a lot of shows run well because of the leads and their chemistry, some of which is overrated but well promoted. Here it was the opposite. Not sufficient promotion and the team failed to take advantage of one of the hottest pairs to come on ITV in recent times, not just for looks and acting skills but just the magic they create when they share screen space. I don't want to diss other TV jodis and I've only recently come across Ulka and Karan's work so I'm not a biased fan, but their pairing on this show was a casting coup - they are leagues ahead of most of the lead pairings I see on ITV these days and didn't even need contrived scenes to make them 'appear' hot - they already are and the team failed to capitalize on this big time. I feel sorry for both of them that they didn't get the recognition they deserved, especially after they both took a risk to play these roles. Individually though, I think they delivered to the best of their abilities but obviously they don't have control over the writing, which really let them down.
I will keep saying that I hope someone casts these two in a major romance show at some point, they will set the screens on fire. They both deserve much better. That's one the good outcomes of this show is that I discovered them. I will be following their work closely from now on.
