We know what happened Arjuna wasn't there, even Yudi didn't know that Drona was guiding Karna, Yudi didn't tell this to Arjuna, As CIC, it was Drona's job to plan but did he plan to capture Yudi or to kill Abhimanyu?

I don't think Drona deserved Arjuna's love and devotion but he did play a very important role in his life, he was a father figure to him and agreed Bhishma and Drona were very important to him.

To be honest I don't think Drona loved Arjuna the way we assume he did. At his childhood he had understood the calibre that Arjun possessed, he knew that nurturing him properly might help him get his much anticipated revenge from Drupad and would also get Ashwathama the throne. So he shoved all the love and special treatment onto him taught him exclusive lessons and always told him that his real objective was to make Arjun number 1 so as to become dearest to him.

Arjun became the best and saw Dronacharya as a father figure, got him his revenge and his son the throne all good, but suddenly he married Drupad's daughter, which meant now if at all South Panchal attacks Ashwathama, he can't expect Arjun's help. His biggest weapon against Drupad was now his family member. This drifted him away from Arjun. He probably secretly became a Kaurav supporter, else he wasn't tied to the throne of Hastinapur to have supported Kauravas

We can't be sure that he didn't knew who all was behind it. .most probably he did.

But on a different note arjuna was present in the dice hall drona was present bhism was present did the two father figure did anything to rescue him?? NO.

While Abhimanyu was seeming invincible Karna asked Drona the way to defeat. It was Drona who told that he should ensure that Abhimanyu doesn't have the bow since they can't kill him with his bow. The entire plan to kill Abhimanyu was by Drona

The most active participants in killing were Drona, Karna and ofcourse Dushy's son

If he knew Drona did it still cried to help him then his love for Drona was much more deeper than we were thinking

Arjuna's brother staked him, he accepted his right on him so I don't see why would he blame Bhishma and Drona for something he accepted but he blamed Yudi for gambling

I was saying that Pandavas didn't know what happened in side the vyuh and Drona's role in it because Abhi was alone there, they didn't know how Drona asked Karna to break Abhimanyu's bow
