One point is definitely right. In other religions too they have characters and certain interpretation of their behaviour which is considered as acceptable by followers of that religion. If any book/show tries to deviate and show another version of it...like showing why a negative character is right from his pov, the followers of that religion are deeply hurt and they either get the book banned or the show taken off air. Hindus don't mind these things or maybe we are more tolerant. If other religions can protest why can't we? And why are our objections not being taken seriously by the channel/cvs?

Money comes before honey (honey being the knowledge of the Vedas, MB, Ramayan, traditions, cultures, etc)...
This explains why people invest in this type of stuff.

For those who support it -- I would just blame it on their lack of knowledge. Think about it this way, if I don't have time to read all these books about Hindu culture and tradition, and all I know is what I've heard in stories my [insert elderly figure here] told me as a kid, then the first opportunity I get to learn something about my nation's past through an easy enough medium *cough* MEDIA *cough* ... I would believe it. After all, why would the TV people lie when it comes to something as important as religion.
These people probably make up the majority. For those who are against it, it's a minority so we're treated like a pest and shooed away. No one cares about us or our thoughts until we bite them hard.

We once discussed this in a Mytho Masti thread - why Hindu characters are considered fair game, when movie makers wouldn't dream of demeaning other religious figures. This comment of MK I fully agreed w/ - it's not a symbol of graciousness for a religion as a whole to tolerate mockery. Despite the disagreements I have w/ both BRC as well as Ramanand Sagar's Shri Krishna, I agree that MK was fully correct on this one.

I recall that there were protests against Kekta's show Jodha Akbar. Then why nobody dares to protest against this starbharata? IMO it reflects the ignorant nature of Hindus. Undoubtedly this silence and ignorance raises a question mark on their knowledge even.

I loved his take on Starbharata's forgetful pratigya scene.

"Satyavati ne kaha ke main bhikharan ban ke kaise rahoongi...aur Bheeshma Pitamaha kehte hain theek hai main pratigya leta hoon".
He objects on Dashraj's absence plus Satyavati being portrayed as the one to take her marriage decision.

He further said, "Aur woh bhi jungle mein jaa ke poochta hai ki kya problem hai". 😆

I agree with Mukesh Khanna.😊
But he should have worded it better.

Actually it is a concern of all veteran makers and actors on liberties taken in so called historical and mytho shows now. Shahbaz Khan is acting in Maharana Pratap now as Bairam Khan and even he said today's shows are more about glamour and TRPs than history.

Distortions were there in old shows too but not as obvious and blatant as ones now.

Anyway Mukesh Khanna doesn't have to be insulted on account of old age. He is a legend and already in Hall of Fame for best TV personalities ever. He has done very well for himself and his shows are iconic. He just voiced his opinion.

Some things that he pointed out were felt by our parents and younger viewers too. All are not frustrated to take digs.

But I guess he has no right to bash the show like this because this mahabharat has done complete justice to the characters and Arav was fabulous as bhishma no bashing but I'm very very very very happy with the show and it's better than the previous one far better.
