I think it's perfect , the way they're showing him here.We must not forget that the whole thing was Shakuni's plan , n it's not like Karna himself even considered the idea of marrying Draupadi or winning her for himself, that's why he wasn't interested to take part.But when Shakuni insisted that he could do this as a favor for his friend, n as it is it's not like he wanted Drau for himself n made a big sacrifice n decided to win Drau n hand her over to his friend.Moreover, he didn't agree immediately, he questioned about the dharma aspect of the action n then Shakuni gave very valid examples of such actions , with none other than Vishma, who's by all considered as some one who couldn't do any Adhama.ONLY THEN, Karna agreed , after being convinced that it'd not be wrong to do so.
