How exactly was Madri's act deceptive? She invoked the Ashwin kumars - twins - at the same time, & got twins herself. How is it her fault if Kunti couldn't think of it?

There was no directive to Madri that she get only one kid.

Gandhari
kunti madri
Draupadi
Bhanupriya
Subhadra
Abhimanyu's wife
Pariskshit's wife
Janmajey's wife

several other pandu wives and kaurav wives
😭😭

Who was Bhanupriya? Bhanumati - Duryodhan's wife? How did she suffer? Everything her husband did was self inflicted.

Parikshit's & Janamejaya's wives - how did they suffer? Janamejaya was alive to the end, and as for Parikshit, he lived to a reasonably old age of 72.

Subhadra - well, she lost Abhimanyu, true, but after the Pandavas retired, the kingdom & Parikshit were left in her care. She could have accompanied Arjun had she wanted, but all the other Pandava wives - except Draupadi, Uloopi & Chitrangada - stayed back w/ Parikshit.

Actually, you could have added Hidimbi to your above list - she married Bhima, but after getting Ghotokacha, never got to live w/ Bhima again, even after Ghatotkacha's death.

From Kunti's POV it could be seen as deceptive, because Kunti got the mantra through a lot of hard work. It ain't easy to please Durvasa Rishi and Kunti was one of the only ones, if not the only one, to ever make him happy. It's understandable that she be reluctant to share the mantra with anyone else. She basically gave it free to Madri when she didn't have to, and from her POV, Madri shouldn't have used it to get twins. Even in the epic, it writes that Madri purposefully invoked the Ashwini Kumaras because she was insecure of Kunti's 3 children. She could have invoked a more powerful or known God, but to her the number of children was more important. Both of them had a pretty competitive relationship.

Actually, couldn't Madri have invoked some of the same devas that Kunti had used? Such as Surya or Indra? Even if there was a restriction on how many times Kunti could invoke them, Madri certainly could invoke them for herself, no?

The question I have is, didn't Pandu suggest any Gods to Madri? He's the one who told Kunti to invoke Yama, Vayu, and Indra respectively, so by the time Madri wanted kids of her own, I wonder why he had no more suggestions. Other powerful Gods Madri could have invoked were Agni or Kubera. With Agni, she could have gotten a son who was fiery in spirit. He wouldn't been perfect for Draupadi, or maybe he wouldn't been considered her brother, I don't know. Kubera would also have been a good choice. I'm not saying Ashwini Kumaras were not a good choice, but there were more powerful and popular Gods before them.
The main reason Madri invoked them was to have two sons. She doubted whether Kunti would give her the mantra twice, and she really wanted more than one son so the Ashwini Kumaras were her only choice.

yes sorry Bhanumati forgot her name and also forgot Hidimba, yes all women suffered whoever married into Kuru family after Ganga, none of them enjoyed a happy marital life and at the end majority of them lost their sons Hidimba, Subhadra, Ghatotkach, etc so they lived a very unhappy married life Kaurav's wives had to spend their entire life in widowhood without their husbands and children. Pandav's wives also did not get to leave with their husbands for vanaprasth as draupadi accompanied them till their death.

Actually, that's another thing that surprises me. Pandu suggested the devas whose sons he wanted, but Surya didn't come to mind? From what I remember, Pandu wanted Kunti to have a 4th son, but for Kunti, it would actually have been a 5th, and then she'd have technically qualified as a prostitute - the same thing that Karna accused Draupadi of being. So she refused.

At that point, when he was making a request for Madri, why didn't he ask Madri to invoke sons from Indra & Surya? Then instead of Nakul & Sahadev, he'd have had 2 more powerful sons like Arjun & Karna, who'd have provided much more fighting power to the Pandavas. Yeah, he had no idea that his sons would have to fight the likes of Bheeshma in war, or that there would be warriors like Kripa, Drona, Ashwatthama & Karna that would tax their fighting abilities to the max, but still...

Janaki, todays episode showed taht Pandu expressed desire to have kids from Ashwini twins as he wanted Yudi's brothers to be blessed with the knowledge of health, healing and also the ability to understand different types of life forms. Kunti accepts but says that this time Madri will bear the children and not she. This was because Madri sort of emotionally blackmailed her ( according to the episode)

@bold:
i meant to ask the same query as to why pandu thinks of surya's son yama but not surya himself who is not only elder to indra but pandu's kuldevata too (suryavanshi).
another is the counting - when kunti says that she has already been with 4 men and to be witha 5th would make her a prostitute, does she count her husband too??
if yes, then she's already been with 5- surya, yama, indra, vayu and pandu!
if pandu is not counted, shouldnt pandu have asked her who is the fourth one??
