Why is everyone shocked over Pandu's 2nd marriage?

I am in no way promoting polygamy, but I was confused why CVs are acting as if it was nonexistent in Mahabharat times. 😕 Why was everyone shocked to see Madri in today's episode? Granted, it was unnecessary and melodramatic to show her coming so soon after Pandu's marriage to Kunti, but it was very common back in those days for Kings to fight wars and come back with a new wife. Today, everyone acted as if Pandu had committed a big crime by marrying Madri, but in actuality, they would not have been surprised at all.

Madri's attitude towards Kunti was also out of line and unrealistic. A new bride who had just come into the household would feel apprehensive and shy. She would not make an enemy out of her co-wife, at least not so soon. I have no problem with Madri being shown proud and arrogant, but to show her having an attitude problem this soon into her marriage was unrealistic.

How many agree with me?

I think they are going with teh version of Madri being jealous of Kunti.
As Kunti was only able to bear sons for Pandu until she kinda took that mantr from her. someone else posted it.. the story on this forum.

ANd I didnt like the way Madri was talking to Kunti.

Are yaar, if they didn't do the melodrama, and vamps, they wouldn't be able to sleep at night properly. They'd be too worried thinking the episode lacked drama 😆

I too didn't like Madri's attitude towards Kunti. Feeling bad for Kunti. May be they are trying to show something new here. Don't know😕

they are trying to show more humane qualities of each character of mahabharat...

yes it was common for a king to have multiple wives but kunti n pandu had not consummated their marriage yet...and kunti was very anxious about it and of pandu's return thats why everyone was shocked as they did not expect it happen so soon..

n they were showing more human side of both madri and kunti...kunti throwing things in her room and taking down the decorations is what any woman would do when her husband gets another woman..same goes for madri it is very human for the second woman to be insecure and jealous of the first woman and then talk bitterly to her...

i agree in the original mahabharath ved vyas has not written abt this...because (as I had said this earlier as well) he was a man..he wont be able to judge a woman's heart n emotions accurately..

i knw all this snide comments of madri are fictional addition...to create more drama..

How relations were marred by jealousy, politics is all written in Mahabharata! it's just that what we know of Mahabharata is through earlier TV serials, where the human side of characters is in absolute black or white and not grey! If anyone is interested to know, what and how actual Mahabharata said or implied, you may find JAYA by Dr devi dutt patnaik worth a read.

Yes, I agree it was unnecessary melodrama for the looks of shock on the raj-parivar's faces. Polygamy was more the norm for royal families. In fact in the original, it was Bhishma that arranged for Pandu's second marriage.
I also feel that Kunti was more jealous and insecure than Madri. Madri was pretty, and was a princess (unlikeKunti, who was aristocracy but not technically royal family - Remember Shurasena as a Yadava, could not ascend the throne, nor did his cousin Kuntibhoj - there were ruling class, but not in line to any thrones ). Also Kunti may have been insecure that Madri was a virgin unlike her. This same insecurity perhaps made her willing to look after the children, rather than to take up Sati, as she felt she wasn't worthy.

Madri was probably naive, passionate, poorly restrained, but very pretty (perhaps a beuty -queen type floozy) but I doubt she was haughty and rude.

yes madri was very pretty and thats the main reason why pandu could not restrain himself from consummating with her...and kill himself in the process..

Well i think they were shocked because kunti is still a new bride and pandu hadn't consummated his marriage with her and got married again. I don't think anyone thought it was wrong no one reprimanded pandu or said to him you have done some thing wrong .At least i don't remember anyone saying that. They were all just feeling bad for kunti that is all but i don't think any one was angry with pandu they were just probably feeling bad for kunti

I dont think Madri is vamp we need to think back to that era when the wife's only job was to keep her husband happy and give him sons so of course if a man had more than one wife competition is bound to be there.I mean I am not saying she was right even i felt bad for kunti but she isn't a vamp as well because competition between wives at that time was pretty normal thing
