nice topic π Thanks yaaraπ³
i feel bheesma realy made a blunder by giving up his throne..hd he nt just melted at his fathers grief then hastinapur n its commoners wdnt hv hd to suffer 4 so long n witnes so much of blood loss..this cd hv bin avoided..4 his father bheesma put to stake d entire future of all d ppl of hastinapur..4 1 shantanu n his fisher woman love all suffered..π..his subjects needed him on d throne more than his father needed a woman then π‘ I think the intro they showed, of how Bheema promised the Demon king that nothing would harm him, was an insight on how quick he was on committing something, ofcourse he followed up his commitments too...but he did not see the larger picture...he bound himself to the throne of Hastinapur, instead of Hastinpur itself!! I think the basic fault lay in there..he thought of his father before his country, the throne before the people...
as 4 dhriti..i feel vidur ws right..more than d physical blindnes..dhriti suffered 4m mental blindnes due to his low self esteem n insecuritys..so dhriti wdnt hv made a gud king..a person who fears being ridiculed 24hrs wdnt hv bin able to bcum a just king..so pandu ws better..yes but he was not ousted because of that..Vichitravirya was shown as equally non eligible, yet he succeeded the throne!! his insecurities would have been satiated once he succeeded on the throne!
bt aftr pandu died..thr ws no option left perhaps so he ws given a run on d throne..bt he failed then too..it is in his court n presence that draupadi ws insulted..he remained a mute spectator only..realy thats no quality of kingship..he is therefore a total failure as a person as wel as a father fig n ofcourse as a king..π€’Druapdi's dishonour was a reflection of the degradation of society! Everybody a mute spectator and watching...The logic of her being a maid and hence she was free to be insulted, boggled the mind...Draupadi was a character which showed that you might be married to the most powerful of men, you are not safe ...it is YOU and YOu...who can protect yourself!! She was married to five of the greatest warriors of all time...daughter of one of the most powerful king...queen of the most powerful kingdom...yet she was insulted..not once but twice..once also when she was Sairandri during the agyaatvaas...and for that and that alone, great warriors like Bhishma and Karna were killed and their out of the rule killing justified!!! even by Krishna...because they did not lift their weapons when it was their true time!!

I know are so manyπ
If only Shantanu had been patient just one more time and had allowed Ganga to let Bhishm go into the ganges as a child..
oh we can say that if only Dushyant and Shaku had not fallen in love..and also Indra had not sent Maneka to woo Vishwamitra...π
If only Ganga had told Shantanu what she is doing before she did it..
If only Shantanu had not married Satyavati inspite of Bhishm's insistence.
If only Amba had told Bhishm about her lover way before the swayamvar.
If only Amba's lover had accepted her.
If only Dhridhrashtra had seen the real reason behind Vidur's words.
If only Pandu had not killed the sage..Ah and if Kunti had not got that boon...No pandus..toh Duryodhana would have been the undisputed kingπ
A lot of If only's that were never to be. At times, karma, destiny or whatever you call it plays its role irrespective of everything that is done to avoid certain things from happening.True,,,it is for us to learn from that and avoid such things ..
I think people gave too much care for Dhridhrashtra's feelings instead of taking him a peg or two down when he had his tantrums. If only the mothers had the sense to go to him and properly tell him to just stop being such a sour puss and see the reality instead of always handling him with golden gloves.. He was a grown man who could analyse and understand.
I do sympathize with him for his disability but he went too much about the same disability and kept insisting that everyone else was making a big issue out of it.
It however was vice versa. It was Dhridhrashtra who colored everything with his blindness..true but the injustice that a disabled man suffers is not so easily solved..especially when he comes as a lineage to such powerful characters...The Stalwart like Bhishma and the ambitious like Satyavati...He had their blood...
Great post @TMπ thanks :)
We can keep counting at the turn of events and we would be able to see just how life played in the end causing so much bloodshed and tears. This is indeed an Epic of the greatest proportions where something starts at one point and is sure to have an impact at some very different point of time..πEvery event is a lesson for us...and the if only is only to be seen as in the light of the positions of the characters then and their relevancy and predicament in today's world..that is why MB is an epic so near to reality today!
