Satyawati -
a woman of steel
A woman who knows her mind
And will not settle for anything less
A woman who will bleed and will kill
And go for what she wants
A woman who is the center of the triad
Of ambition , struggle and happiness
She has the ambition and is willing to struggle for her happiness
Maharaj Shantanu
A man who has it all one moment
A kingdom, a beautiful beloved and a son
A man who the next moment stands to lose one of the 3
A man who makes the choice with his mind
That his heart cannot accept
Devavrata
A man who can have it all
An outsider, non existent till a day prior
Yet a part of the triad
And a man who will make the choice
That will alter the course of history
A man who will willingly give all that he has not yet got
The episode full of grandeur
Lavish , a trifle garish IMHO
But an episode that was larger than life
Superb dialogues
Worth the wait!
What stood out - Satyavati - shayantini was very impressive as satyavati!
And the fact that women then were strong independent ambitious
A woman could put her aspirations and her self respect above all
And even a king would have to bow down to her wishes
If he wanted her badly enough!!!!
A far cry from how women are portrayed in shows of today!
Aaj ka Saar :
sangharsh bina sukh nahi milta
Sangharsh ko aag deti hai ichchaon ki chingari
Aur hum apni poori adhoori ichchaon ka hi samagam hain
( there is no happiness without struggle
The fire to struggle is fueled by ambition
And who are we but our desires
