Chapter 8
Madhu woke up to with a dull ache in her heart. She knew today was an important day in her life. Yet her heart felt so heavy. There was a woman to help her get ready for the ceremony, but she yearned for her mother's presence. It made her heart sick that she was doing this without Padmini's knowledge.
The woman led her downstairs, but RK was nowhere in sight to her discontent. Bittu ji came hurriedly.
"Miss. Madhu, Chief is waiting in the mandir. Chalo."
Bittuji escorted Madhu to the mandir. She was feeling giddy because of her inner turmoil. She could see RK sitting on the wedding mandap participating in some rituals the pandit was performing. She couldn't help notice that RK looked dashing and regal in a sherwani. Rishabh Kundra was awestruck by the sight before him. There in front of him was a vision of magnificent beauty. The pink lehenga Madhu was wearing complimented and highlighted her elegance. The thought that she would be all his thrilled him further.
All rituals passed in a daze for Madhu. Here she was getting married to a man who tried to ruin her; how would her family react? Would they understand? RK on the other hand was feeling smug. He couldn't wait for the rituals to be over so he could whisk his bride away.
It didn't take long for the Laja-Homah, Mangal Fera and the Saptapadi rituals to be over. All these rituals were a joke for RK as this marriage was just a ploy for him. He was laughing inside when the pandit recited the importance of each ritual. Madhu, who had no idea that this marriage was a snare, was more worried about how her family would react. She wasn't sure if it's best that her family was not present.
It was about time for RK to put the Mangal Sutra. He couldn't help but smirk while securing it around Madhu's neck. Madhu's heart skipped a beat feeling his fingers brushing against her neck. Suddenly, the reality hit her. She's married to him. She belongs to him now. With those thoughts in her mind, RK completely bound her to him by putting sindoor on her head. Her eyes immediately closed. The marriage ceremony was now religiously solemnised. Rishabh Kundra and Madhubala Kundra were now officially husband and wife.
Rishabh Kundra smirked in ecstasy. 'Your fate is sealed now, biwi.'

They arrived at the mansion. There were maids waiting at the entrance for Madhu to complete the Griha pravesh ritual. Even after the ritual was completed, Madhu was still in her dazed state unable to comprehend everything that was happening so fast. The fact that she was a wife now burdened her and the fact that whose wife she was made it worse.
"Biwi, go to your room and get ready. We are leaving Silvassa."
Madhu looked at him surprised. "Where are we going?" she croaked, haven't been talking for hours.
"No questions. Just go get ready." RK said sternly.
When she went to her room, a beautiful anarkali was already laid on her bed. She had no choice but do as she was told. She had a shower and got ready for whatever horrible surprise he had in store for her. She sighed.
When she came downstairs, all servants were bustling around the place. RK sauntered in, changed into a T-shirt and jeans and a scarf around his neck. 'Where exactly are we going? I hope we are going back to Mumbai.' Madhu thought puzzled. That would mean she would be meeting her family and she dreaded that too. The mere idea sent a jolt of fear down her spine. How exactly is she going to explain things? How exactly would they react to this marriage? She was certain they wouldn't take it kindly. Her thoughts were broken by RK.
"Biwi, you look exquisite." RK smirked.
Madhu glowered and ignored his comment. She noticed there were two hand luggage packed. This scared her more, giving her new ideas. 'Are we going to some holiday destination, for... argh! No no no can't be! But then he almost tried to seduce me.. does that mean.. he would-' Her thoughts were again broken by RK ushering her to get into the car.
RK and Madhu were sitting in the back of the vehicle. Madhu was busy looking outside the window, but her thoughts were full of assumptions as to where they might be going. It was possible they were going to Mumbai after all, as RK might have important work left to do. That would only mean she would be meeting her in-laws? But surely RK must be having his own place. Madhu was worried as either way she would only have trouble waiting for her.
Meantime RK was busy admiring his beautiful wife. The real purpose of this marriage suddenly crossed his mind. 'No, she can't know. At least not yet.'
The vehicle reached its destination leaving Madhubala flabbergasted. She spun around and looked at RK, giving him a questioning glance. He as usual had an impassive expression.
"RK?" Madhu blurted.
RK Glanced at her bored, but didn't answer.
"RK? Why are we here?"
"To pluck mangoes."
"Not funny RK! Why did we come to the airport? I have a right to know where I'm going." Madhu said angrily this time.
RK looked at her sharply. "Do not raise your voice with me, biwi."
"True. I'm your biwi. Not your slave," she huffed at him.
RK smirked. 'The fiery lioness is back. I like it.' RK thought to himself.
"Biwi, you'll know soon enough," he gloated in reply.
*****
Madhubala Rishabh Kundra was peeved. She was running behind her husband, pulling her luggage with her, trying to catch up with his strides. "RK, wait!" Madhu cried.
RK paused and looked behind. He was amused seeing his grumpy wife trying to catch up with him. Then on he slowed his pace and went with her to the airline's designated counter to get the Boarding cards. He checked his watch and said, "We need to hurry, Biwi."
They finally boarded the plane after, customs and security checks. Madhu sighed in relief getting comfy in her seat. She looked at RK who was placing their luggage on top. She needed a good nap, but she had questions. Lots of them. RK sat next to her and made himself comfortable and buckled up. "Biwi buckle up," RK said in his authoritative voice.
Madhu annoyed, buckled herself. "RK I have a question"
RK sighed and glanced at her, "When didn't you?"
Madhu glared, "How exactly did you get hold of my passport?"
RK snickered, "How hard do you think it was, when I managed to whisk you out of that house not even a cat finding out?"
Madhu scowled, making RK smirk. She turned to the other side and pretended to sleep. RK grinned knowing well Madhu was peeved. He looked to his other side and caught a couple staring at him and murmuring, giving knowing glances. He gave them a polite smile and took a magazine from the front-seat pocket and busied himself. This was why he hated late booking and voila he ended up in economic-class. He groaned inwardly. He looked to his side, to see Madhu had actually fallen asleep. He looked at her slightly shivering form and took a blanket, covering her with it. At least they managed to get window seats.
'This is going to be a long journey.'
