Yep, both of these performances were really enjoyable to watch today. :)
About Dharmesh, I personally think this guy is a better choreographer than a dancer. He just has so many awesome ideas and so much creativity. But I don't think he always executes it perfectly himself. Just my opinion of course. Like in this laser performance...the best part about this performance was the idea of the laser itself. I thought this idea and the genius thought put into the choreography was better than the actual dancing itself. Dharmesh's dance moves itself weren't anything new. We've seen those moves before..it was the laser idea itself that stood out.
The only criticism I have for this performance is that I wish Dharmesh had expressed better in certain moments of the song. For example this part where the lyrics go, "...chupaya tujhe.."..something like that. That one moment had no dance moves. It was JUST an expressive moment. And Dharmesh didn't quite deliver there. There were a couple other moments like that, where I wished Dharmesh had been more open with his expressions. He could've performed with a little more love and softness I felt. For that ultimate romantic and magical feel he was going for.
What I LOVED though was the way Dharmesh slaps his head in innocence and bashfulness in that "neendon mein basaya" bit. Too cute! And also the end touch was the best with the ring. That end bit really made me smile. Dharmesh has that really unique style of putting in this kind of soul and these little touches into his dancing. I think he would be an awesome bollywood choreographer. We could use more people like him in bollywood actually. :)
About Prince, I actually thought we saw some different moves from him in this performance. He didn't repeat any of his older moves actually except for that one second bit where he does a bit of that signature step of his. Other than that, his dance moves were different this time. I liked the song choice too.
I thought Prince definitely improved his own standards with his style also. This guy is just so effortless with his style. I liked the end bit with just the beats and the claps. 😆 Nicely done.
Prince's style didn't really require expressing much. It was meant to be pretty mechanical only, so I can't really criticize him for that.
I enjoyed both the performances equally. Dharmesh had the edge with the creativity and the little touches while Prince had the edge with his impressive dance moves and that great technique he has for his style.
