The problem with this show is that all "perverse"relationships are seen in one family
It sometimes feels like a VC Andrews book

There is Latika and Prem, Possibly Trisha and her cousin ..and it feels like both male cousins may have liked her..that's just weird and perverse ..mainly because these are socialized kids who go to school and meet other people ..why they keeping it all in the family?

Then there is Gaurav whom I think is gay

It seems Trisha is not as innocent as she looks..I think that image of her being a kid will be shattered soon

I also think Trisha's parents may have some dark secrets ..the father especially

Personally I hope the Trisha's mystery is an intelligent one and not trashy..ie she was pregnant by a family member and ran away

Cousins do marry in some cases and I have seen these things. In one case, I was asked to intervene and prevent such marriage saying that it will give birth to defective kids. But the couple were so determined and now they have got a very healthy kid.

First cousins can marry but only if their dad's are not brothers, then that would cause or possibly cause birth defects. I know many cousins who have had arranged marriages ( respective patents bro/sis ) but they didn't exactly know eachother either, some not even stay same country. This show with the cousins is more like incest because they have grown up with eachother and Trisha should be more a sister to them but as the show is showing, it does happen in real life and in India

I think the show is directed towards a certain level of class and that is who the makers are attracting. I do not think showing 'perverted characters' is any harm as they are portraying facts of rich societal. There is a reason why people watch English shows as they show the true colours of people.

PS Today's world and people are quite bold and harsh. I feel we should all have an open mind, by learning to deal and accept such issues in our society. NOT EVERYONE'S world is like EKTA Kapoor's dramas😆

Just to add my knowledge about cousin marriages...
Our great culture and country does allow cousins to get married (this information is for those who believe that Indian culture opposes such relationships)...in fact traditions in India promote marriage between cousins. And its not limited to a certain religion. South Indian population is ripe with cousin marriages and so is the Islamic community. In some cases its true that cousins are raised in separate families and therefore don't grow up together and so the awkwardness is avoided, but in more cases the cousins grow up in same household or at least close proximity and are bread on the notion that they will marry when they grow up.

The scientific data suggests that the greater the roots of incest the worse the outcome. I am in the medical profession and I specialize in babies with congenital defects. I can assure you that in our civilized world, about 30 percent of patients with congenital defect that come to us belong to parents who are first cousins. The problem is not just marrying your cousin... the problem is that your parents married their cousin and your grandparents married their cousin too. Then when you marry your cousin, your kids will end up with seriously messed up DNA because that is 3 generations of inbreeding.

Well,my eyes are already wide open.I have put in my views knowing that it is a remake of some Spanish show
Wherein the victim too is no saint.
First and foremost it is not Savdhaan India or Crime Patrol which aims to educate audience about lurking danger and the vices of mankind. It is purely entertainment show. And the plot is writer's figment of imagination which he/she has written with an aim of providing thrill and excitement by exposing scandals of a family not to preach any ethic/moral. I am too aware of such immoral scandals happening in our society but dishing it out in a prime time soap 5 days a week in the name of thrill and entertainment does not go down well.I can not imagine watching it with my father or brother wherein one is getting intimate with one's paternal uncle's son and vice versa.
If they have kept the original plot then the show can be moved to late night slot.
I am sure they are not going to show sex scenes when they say they have toned down the content.

I am no saas bahu soap lover living in a lala land.

I do agree its disgusting to see something like this i do not want to debate or discuss on the issue about relationship between cousins But for me even in today's world it should be pure it can be friendly but it should not cross line...They must criticize this insane act in the show

i dont think they will criticize it when there are plenty of able viewers such as yourself already doing so
the serial only means to present the darker disturbing aspects of life, without getting into any politics itself- In literally pointing out what is wrong defeats the purpose of compelling the viewer to think for themselves

In India, cousins do marry each other (Examples: South Indian communities, Hindu Kurmis of Chunar) and such marriages aren't considered incestuous. Marriage between maternal uncle and niece is also practiced. Just because it doesn't happen in our neighbourhood, doesn't mean it doesn't exist at all. It's very much a part of Indian culture. We should stop pretending like everything that we regard as immoral is imported from western countries.
.
Such things are a norm in certain parts of the country and there's nothing wrong in their portrayal on the small screen. If you can't accept reality, stay away from it or get therapy. What people learn from daily soaps is their choice. They can take away the positive or the negative. While some may watch 'Laut Aao Trisha' and become alert and careful, others may think it's acceptable and practice the same. The same can be said about other telly shows. You can watch a 'clean' show and learn to be servile to your husband and treat him as a superior entity, lack career-orientation and accept polygamy or you may learn not to be like those protagonists. You may also choose to mimic villainous characters. If you blame a show for your actions, you are projecting guilt. Yes, the media reinforces value systems but it's you who decides whether to accept them or not.
.
Who has given the license to portray sexuality only to reality shows? Any show can depict reality, exaggerated reality or fiction.
Sexuality is natural and all (most) Indian families do is pretend like it doesn't exist. Parents do not teach children about contraception, rape, molestation, incest and the like. They instead create adults who shy away from nature and can watch polygamy, polyandry, domestic violence, molestation, adultery, murder, theft, vandalism, blackmail, abduction and unhealthy machismo but can't accept incest, kissing or any other sexual activity because it's not a family thing and is pervert. Are polygamy and adultery acceptable to Indian families?
.
More importantly, we need to stop blaming culture. Media airing kissing scenes or women wearing trousers wasn't always the norm in western nations. At one point in time, they were as conservative as India. Traditions evolve with every generation in every region. We need to stop dictating what should and what shouldn't happen. Terms like moral, immoral, good, bad, right and wrong are subjective. In some villages, marrying within the same administrative unit is seen as incest and not allowed. Does that mean people in small towns and cities should also stop and tellywood shouldn't portray same-village, same-town and same-small city marriages?

i am very new to the show and must say i find it interesting..secondly, abt the portrayal of characters, am a psychiatrist and have worked in a govt hospital for three years..believe me, the stuff happening in our society makes the show look like a barbie show.. and its not limited to only the upper class or the lower class..people's mentalities have been the same since years, and televising it is not gonna change it, yes, it in fact might just make people wake up and realise tht nobody is safe, we have to protect our families, quite often from our families themselves..

Hi!
I have nothing against the TM. Everyone has a right to express their opinions.
I just started watching the show and I must say that I found it interesting which is not what I usually think of most Indian shows-- in general I find them downright boring and unrealistic.

Instead of following the usual ghisa pita saas bahu trend that most shows do, this one, so far at least, has tried something different and the producers should be applauded for that.

The theme seems to suggest that there are many skeletons in the closet and they come tumbling out at the time of crisis-- which is very true.

And to say that these things don't happen in the Indian society is sheer naivete-- they do happen--but behind closed doors.

In a way I'm glad this subject is being tackled because it's high time we understand that it's important to be wary of everybody, even if they happen to be your very own near and dear ones. Prevention is better than cure.

I am watching the show from first episode.I am loving the show and it's interesting.Reg the character and theme of the show .I find this show close to reality than the normal saas bahu soap. Indian society is not pure as we say it's corrupted . Daily we read many shocking news of dad raped her daughter ,cousin affairs and rape ,extra martial affairs etc.,So this show is not showing something which is not happening in the society .Like in our saas bahu soap all r not purely white some r grey also in real life. That's what this show trying to show .Outside a family looks perfect but inside they might not be and Swakia family is one such family . Moreover this show make people to be more aware of things and make them to be extra careful.
