Suresh's act
Suresh carries on with his Kala primed dialogues... about.. how Naku's father took money off him, and gave his word that he would get you married to him! Naku looks wide eyed in disbelief! Suresh carries on, I bet he must have become drunk and then forgotten about his word! Naku cries, I don't know him! she looks at Baji and cries out, Baji he's lying! this is the first time I am setting eyes on him! and I' eve never seen him in my slums either! Baji gives the guy a dirty look. and Naku bravely challenges Suresh, who are you? and who has sent you? and why are you lying? tell me! Baji too supports Naku, hey smartass! who are you? what rubbish are you blabbing, hurry up and say who you are! before I sort you out right now! Suresh replies to Baji.. Baji bhai! it's me who has had a raw deal here! Nakusha! why don't you tell the truth? this isn't right what you are doing!.. Kala then does her good image act.. by mock warning Suresh! shut up! lying through your teeth! Suresh swears, by god I am not lying ! no one knew in the slums that she is not really dark! he implies closeness between Naku and her! Naku gives him daggers.. all are shocked! as he talks about Naku's guarded secret! Only I knew she was not really dark! before the world she was dark but before me something else! even then I was prepared to marry her! but one day she and her whole family just vanished from the slums! I met Ganpat! treated him to some cheap booze and it was him who gave me the address to this place! Naku looks helplessly at her supporters, Kishore, Baji , Madhu, and Kishore, says sharply! look you better stop slandering our vahini! if your accusations are wrong, then you know what will be done to you? shameless Suresh inists, I love Nakusha! Kala adds her public relations image, just shut your mouth! if Bhau gets to hear all this! it will be doomsday , now get lost from here! so Kala dismisses him after he says his lines to bad mouth Naku! but Suresh looks at Naku and continues. why don't you speak up Naku, tell every one we love each other! Baji comes to him and yells, oyee Suresh! enough of your dramatics! don't you know whose wife you are pointing your finger at? Baji drags him out of the hall! But Suresh yells as he dragged out, hey Naku, don't forget your old hero, your love! remember I'll be back! Naku cries repulsed! Baji returns, and stands near Naku and AS and Kala again, guides this foolish family, I beg all of you that don't mention all of this to Bhau! let me handle it, I'll speak to him! she turns to her mother, AS are you thinking that your worship has gone unheard by the gods.. please don't think that way, but I do feel that some one's cast an evil eye on this family again.. then she turns to Naku and puts her hand on her shoulder to taunt her and tell her about her potency. Nakusha! you don't stress , I am here , I'll talk to Bhau, so don't stress go and warm the food for Bhau, she says mockingly. Dense Naku , now realizes that Kala orchestrated all this.. Naku can't believe how evil this woman can be!
Dinner time
The evil trio sit at the table , for dinner. Naku brings in the food dish. Kala looks up at Naku like a viper.. as Naku serves her. Leela starts the vocal taunts, so much happens in this house of ours! we tolerate everything due to our vahini and our Bhau. Naku ignores her. Then Roops chips in, yummy the food smells delicious! Naku ignores her too.
Dutta and Baji turn up. Kala calls him, Dutta Bhau! come eat with us! Dutta gives Naku a look.. probably waits for her to ask him to sit and eat! Kala gets up to break the Dutta / Naku eyelock! She holds his arm and says in feigned affection, are you going to work all day? come sit and eat with all of us. Roops sniggers at her Tai's acting! Naku seems fraught about the incident! Dutta sits and Naku moves her hand to turn his plate the right way around.. Kala moves to do it as well and both women glare at each other right under his nose.. Dutta shifts his eyes on their crossed arms.. but Naku wins andturns his plate over .. Kala sits adjacent to Dutta...and looks at Sudarshan mysteriously.. checking if he had arranged the next bit of drama! and he nods.. and Kala waits. Naku dishes out Dutta's food... and he announces awkwardly , I'll only eat yoghurt.[ he rejects food made by her] Leela rubs Naku's wounds..bhau why only yogurt? eat the food vahini has cooked it! Dutta just sits there silently, with a sulky face.. and Naku puts back what she was dishing out for him. he is about to eat and much to the evil gang's delight! there is sound of breaking glass and something is thrown in the dining area from outside. Sudarshan pulls his gun out! who is over there! Dutta gets up and looks in the direction of the sound. There is checking done by the guards. and Kala gives Naku a dirty look! Sudarshan finds a piece of paper wrapped in a stone. He picks it up with an evil grin. and tells the guards to check outside and hides the note behind his back. Then returns to the table and says ,there was no one there but this was lying there on the floor..he shows it to Dutta.. who looks at the note on the paper. Sudarshan opens it and Kala gives Naku a you watch now you guttersnipe look! Sudarshan says, it looks like a letter Bhau!.."you are mine Nakusha.. you turned me out of the house today, but I will return! I will return Nakusha .. your beloved Suresh.." evil gang waits for Dutta's reaction! Naku is shocked one more time. Sudarshan rubs, he'll return? meaning, did he come here during the day?the sisters stand mumb but Kala now creates trouble! casually, Bhau, yes some man came , for no reason.. don't worry , he was just telling lies, ignore him you eat your food.. Dutta was listening patiently, and waiting.. Kala gives Naku a winning look! Dutta says calmly, how did someone enter my house without my permission? then he turns his head and glares at Naku...will someone bother to tell me the complete story? Kala says, nothing much Bhau some lair, cheat and a fraudulent man barged into the house! what was his name... Suresh! he was saying, that in the slums , he was Nakusha's neighbour. He said he knows her since ages. since Dutta was not reacting.. Kala adds the jerk.. he said he's in love with Nakusha's beautiful face, and that Nakusha cheated him and ran off and left him! ..now you tell me Bhau, is there any degree of truth in this? how can we trust just some man ,so easily? we just have to trust our vahini..she looks at Naku and taunts her. Dutta hangs his head low! and is silent.. so Kala stirs him more to get the desired manic reaction from him, so we just kicked him out of the house!
Dutta gives Naku an evil look and Kala winds him up, yes Aye Sahib, was a bit upset after all this, but you know Bhau if there is some trial with you, then she gets stressed. but doesn't matter, let it be, you two don't have a fight amongst your selves regarding this matter..I am aware that there are complications between you and Nakusha, but don't mistrust Nakusha! don't have doubts about her!about her character!...kala speaks on the contrary to what she wants Dutta to do!.. because Bhau, every one has a past! you had one, like wise Nakusha also may have one...and she nods at Naku! all wait for Dutta to react.. and he finally speaks.. Dutta has nothing to do with someone's past! it's entirely up to her, if she wishes ,she can stay here. However if she wants to leave then no one should stop her. Kala has a content smile of her face , like her gang. Dutta , hurt , just turns and leaves the table.. to go to his room.
Naku gives Kala a contemptuous look as Kala smiles scoffing at her. and stares Naku down.. and Naku turns and leaves.
Dutta 's den
Dutta heads into his room.. closes the doors behind him. As usual Kala's words ring in his ears, "what was name?..suresh lived in her basti , he said he's fallen in love with Nakusha's beautiful face;he said Nakusha betrayed him and ran away from there! now due to this you two please don't fight; he was in love with Nakusha's beautiful face! don't mistrust Nakusha! or her character, please don't fight, Nakusha betrayed him".. Dutta pinches the bridge of his nose. Naku enters his room. she calls out, Saab! but he turns from her. But she moves up before him and says, I know you don't trust me...but don't abuse my virtue! today ,under your roof ,fingers were pointed at my chastity, my character! and you.. Dutta with a scowl walks away from her. she calls at him, and you said ,unconcerned, that she can go with who so ever! is that all Nakusha is in your eyes?you raised your hand at me , I never complained ! you rejected me too! I didn't mind that too! you disowned me as your wife, I accepted that too, but today when questions were raised about my virtue, you were silent. This is not done Saab!, it takes a few moments to assassinate a women's character! Dutta stands dumb his eyes lowered, cast aspersions on a woman's character and rob her of dignity! Dutta turns away from her, and moves away from her, but Naku moves with him and gives him an embittered sided look and continues, at such a time, a woman's strength is her husband! but today you have shook my faith in love, in Bappa! and in myself! Naku cries out and defiantly argues, what makes you think that I would wish to go to another man? what did I do?? is that all you think about me? I hid only one secret of my life from you! which was my mistake!.. I was a poor girl who lived in slums under the leering eyes of lecherous men.. a girl whose mother protected her beautiful face from the evil eyes of the world ,by covering it with soot! what was the big harm and wrong in that? what sin was committed? There were many who wanted to defile me! but only one ,my mother! who protected me! I did whatever she suggested! Hence what was my mistake? yes I kept the truth from you, and you called me a cheat, I accept that! but telling me to go to another man... no Saab! Naku breaks down sobbing.bitterly.
Then Dutta spoke.. when did I say I doubt your character? and Naku looks up at him and replies..but you also didn't say that you don't doubt my character! with a stiff upper lip Dutta speaks distantly, Naku you are in this house , according to your wish. Naku replies, I know I am living here because it's my wish, but Saab , just say it once that you don't love me! I will surely leave! but I also know that you will not say so.. because I know that you love me.. when I was in hospital, why did you come upon my calling? who gave me a drink in the forest? I know your heart is like wax.. you do love me. just say it once you don't love me.. say it! he finally coldly says, Nakusha that day will never happen in your life! that Dutta who had a heart is no more now.. your pleas do not reach my ears now! it makes no difference to me whether you stay or leave in this house.. I have allowed you to stay in this house because you are a woman. Naku replies.. saab I can only be deemed as a woman when you accept me in the role of your wife.. till then I have no right to be in this room! now I will only come here , when you call me. She says finally.. and Dutta gives her a narrowed eye look.. but then his eyes turn dewy..Naku turns and leaves, wiping her tears, and Dutta watches her with folded arms from his door way. She suddenly turns, hoping he would stop her. But he looks the other way, and she walks away.. and he turns to face his room and sighs...then firms his mouth.. episode ends Hamlet53~ 25. 7. 14.
Overall for me a fairly annoying episode.. all doing an act right from Suresh to Dutta..
Suresh was convincing in his role..it was clear he was doing it for the money.
Kala was acting because she had an agenda to get Naku kicked out of the house and she was fairly successful as Dutta almost washed his hands of Naku..
Dutta and his whole act of nonchalance in Naku was very disappointing. The only time he was not acting was when he readily without fail gets mighty impressed by his goddess Kala.. her words ring in his mind and tell him what to do, how to react!
His whole act of denying the act of marriage was sad.. his character is becoming weaker by the minute. no I don't buy he is jealous or hurt.. he is plain insensitive and also sexist as he says he's kept her in his house because she is a woman.. in this last scene he sounds arrogant and pompous like his sister.. my personal opinion Naku should leave him..he too like others scoffed at her character.. as a husband he was expected to protect her.. but no he was busy putting on an act!
So the two people who were themselves in the episode were Naku.. and Baji.. Naku told Dutta her story.. admitted she made a mistake! but no Dutta is too busy acting as the god and meting out punishment upon Naku..some will say Naku deserves it. I say even god forgives sinners so why is Naku denied it by a man who is far from being clean himself. hammie is for Naku. she should leave him.. he's not a man who will stand by his wife! what could be worse then the accusations hurled against her..but alas.. sadly I admit there is similar evidence against Naku to what Suresh pointed out against her.. so in the end one hero.. hail Kala Tai!
