Saturday episode
Haldi ceremony
Naku's haldi ceremony continues, key women, Dutta's sisters, Babi, Madhu apply haldi on her. Babi blesses her . But Naku feels a certain uneasiness as if something is not quite right with Dutta.
Bachelor party
The party continues and Baji gets carried away and dances with the dancing girls. Whilst security is relaxed. Sudarshan's guest pulls out a gun fixes a silencer on it and shoots Dutta just under his shoulder. Dutta is stunned by the shot and falls to the ground. Amid the chaos Baji restrains the guy who shot Bhau.. but before he could disclose whose man he was? someone shoots him dead. Dutta says he's fine.. he is more concerned about finding the guy who shot the sharp shooter. Sudarshan starts cribbing about lapse in security, and Baji says, it was your guest the one who lay dead.. who was allowed in without being frisked! Dutta tells both of them off and orders Baji to find the guy who killed the man who shot Dutta. Baji points out it's a good thing Bhau had a bullet proof jacket... Naku's hunch was right Dutta's life was in danger!
Patil Nivas ~ wedding
Dutta is in his room his mother comes to him very upset.. due to all the inauspicious things that are happening. She suggests should she cancel the wedding? Dutta says , that's exactly what this person wants us to do cower down and fear him, this marriage will take place with all the rituals, besides you are my Aye so cannot be afraid.
Amid fireworks ! drum cadence! sitting on a horse dressed as a prince Dutta comes towards the mandap.. his family and Baji all dance before the horse carrying him ... personally to me the scene reminds me of how the grooms family dances and celebrate as they proceed to the brides house.. in my native country
Flanked by his mother and Kala he is brought into the main red carpeted hall.. Babi, Ganpat arrive to greet the groom. Babi performs his arti. Dutta stands with a serious face as he tries not to look at Ganpat whom he tolerates due to Naku. Ganpat then holds a platter and sinks down to Bhau's feet... Ganpat looks up at Dutta who looks down at Ganpat , then puts his toe forward and Ganpat washes Dutta's toes . Then Babi repeats the ritual and wipes his toes dry. Once this ritual finishes, Dutta is escorted to the mandap.. Baji stops and gives the guest security checks before entering the main lounge.
Dutta sits serious faced in the mandap.. the pandit chants mantras to mark the beginning of the ceremony. Dutta's family looks upon lovingly at him.. Aye Sahib asks Roops to tie the mundavali around Dutta's head ,that Maharastharain to be married couples wear...after that pandit instructs the family and the marriage rites continues. Kala sitting by Dutta prays , when required. More rites are performed on Dutta by his close family. Aye Sahib explains the proceedings to Madhu ...ceremony continues in the hall
Outhouse
Fair Naku, is getting ready.. she tells her mother, Aye today I will start life anew, beginning my life again ..as from today, Saab's name will be attached to my name.. people will call me Nakusha Dutta Patil.. I don't feel right about that! because I am starting this new life on the basis of a lie! I won't be able to do this Aye! she begs her mother. Her father Ganpat says to her, look Naku this decision has been taken by the elders of this household, so don't be stressed everything will be fine.
Mandap
The pandit announces, call the sisters! and Aye Sahib tells Leela and Roops, as Kala is present near Dutta already.. Aye Sahib , encourages Madhu.. you go to as you're Dutta's sister too.. Madhu looks with fright at the of the back of Dutta's head .. Aye Sahib orders, Dutta! and she nods to tell him to call Madhu to his side as his sister too! he turns his head, looks ,then smiles at Madhu and nods at her to come.. joyfully Madhu almost cries.. and Kala acts all like it was her idea calls Madhu .. and when Madhu comes behind a standing Dutta.. Kala makes sure she hears Madhu hears her say to Dutta.. you did right Dutta! this can only be done by my brother! she gibes at Madhu! Madhu overjoyed stands next to her brother.
The white sheet is held out for the arrival of the bride.. pandit ji asks for the bride to be brought.
Dutta watches his mother to go up the main stair case to see what is keeping the bride.
Out house
Babi tries to convince Naku , now look had Kala Tai taken this decision I would think twice, but if Aye sabib had decided that you shall the truth about yourself to Bhau after your wedding, then there must be some good reason begin it. Naku up until now Bappa has supported you at very moment in your life. He will never leave you in the middle of the deep sea...so don't fear but have faith, my child.. coaxes Babi.
Aye Sahib enters the room and consoles Naku , after great thought I have taken this decision. Naku! it's Dutta's ,his life is at stake. It's in danger.. that's' why you will have to go through the marriage ceremony in your dark complexion! I won't force you to do so, you have to choose, what is more important to you.. your truth about your self ,.. or your would be husband's life? because if he isn't around.. than what purpose does your truth have!?
Aye Sahib suggests .. but leaves the result in Naku's hands.. Naku's family just stands stunned into silence. Naku is anxious.. Aye Sahib comes down the main stair case with a beaming smile! how well she puts on a front.... Like others she too waits for the bride to arrive.. but Aye Sahib wonders what decision Naku will take..
Naku crosses the threshold of her home.. and then. accompanied by her father mother and brother is brought down.. Naku's face is covered by the veil.. Dutta , now raises his eyes and looks across to the staircase with a small smile.. he looks.. what he sees is a dark Naku dressed as his bride.. and his eyes narrow like a content lion.. Aye Sahib too takes a sigh of relief..
Naku steps on the low stool behind the white sheet of cloth that conceals her as a bride from her groom.. Dutta. .. Baji at the entrance bars guests from bringing in any wrapped up gifts.. they have to leave on the side table.
Dutta waits to see Naku.. the evil trio give each other evil grins , that the lie to wound
Dutta lives on! all are checked at the door.. under Baji's heightened security. Kala has her eyes eyes on whose coming in.. wedding ceremony continues in the mandap. Through other visitors another person in a suit and black dress enters , missed by the security guards. But he is stopped and searched... Baji looks , as out of the suited man's pocket comes out an envelope. He is asked what it is ? and the man replies, it's a small gift for Bhau... Baji is alerted and he says, yes let him go! the BG gives the envelope back to the men .. Kala has a smirk on her face.. the man moves on.. toward's the mandap..where the mantras carry on.
The white cloth is lowered and Naku shyly looks up at Dutta standing before her as the groom. Dutta looks down into her eyes tenderly. Naku smiles shyly at him.. it's clear that both are very much in love. They step forward with garlands in their hands. both stare at each other.. Naku garlands him first , her parents smile.. and people clap. Then Dutta puts the garland on her..all clap while they only have eyes for each other.
Ganpat takes Naku's hand and offers it to Dutta.. for Naku 's sake he accepts Naku's hand as Ganpat gives his daughter away..
Ganpat says, Bhau today I give my daughter to you.. promise me you will keep her away from troubles and sorrow ,for the rest of her life. Dutta lowers his eyes with a smile.. and says.. absolutely! I give you my word. Kala sneers.. and Dutta looks down at Naku.. for your sake I let your father do this part of our marriage.
The man in the suit moves.. and goes to a servant and gives her the envelope.. go give this to Aye Sahib..say it's a gift for Dutta Bhau. The man leaves, and the servant gives the envelope to Aye Sahib, saying a guest Aye has given this for Bhau.. Aye Sahib opens it , sees it, it's fair Naku's haldi ceremony pictures! In panic she looks around and then scrunches the picture up!
Dutta and Naku sit before the fire as the mantras for the wedding takes place.. they give each other a sided glance. The pandit says, you both need to make vows to each other.. Dutta starts, I promise that I will honor this bond of husband and wife, as a faithful and trust worthy husband. Naku smiles, and he gives her a sided glance.. and Naku says, I too give my vow, that I will honour this relationship with all my heart. Then in silence his heart speaks to her, I promise that all my life I shall maintain a relationship of complete trust and faith between us. Naku looks at him and silently says the words from her heart, I promise that , I will honour and devote my self to the relationships of this house. Dutta says in his heart , as he looks at her directly.. I accept you as my wife with all my heart. Naku , looks at him and says, with god as my witness, with full faith and devotion I accept you as my husband... they look at each other and Dutta says to her silently with his looks.. from today we are man and wife.
Baji nervously checks security and then sees his friend, getting married...and he smiles, the pandit says to Dutta, now you put the mangalsutra on her.. Dutta touches it with vermillion and then puts the mangalsutra around Naku's neck and vermillion around in her parting .. all clap as the two signs of their marriage, the vermillion and the mangulsutra are completed. Naku looks at her mother , who is so relieved. Aye Sahib cries with joy.. both bride and groom stand and Kala, ties the knot on the cloth around Dutta's shoulder, to Naku's chunni for the seven pheras. She takes Dutta hand and Naku puts it in his palm. Dutta leads the phera, Naku follows behind tied to him., as Dutta holds her by the hand.. while all shower petals on them.. marriage ceremony is completed.
After marriage
Kishore, Sudarshan , Baji, and Dutta all relax on the dining chairs.. Kishore feigns a cough! And Baji teases, how come you are coughing Kishore Bhau?.. Dutta sits down a bit shaken.. on one of the dining chairs.. Dutta turns to Baji and Baji tries not to snigger. Kishore tries not to chuckle and says to Sudarshan.. Sudarshan Bhau! how come the lion of Patil Vadi seems to have lost his roar..? Dutta hears and knows they are pulling his leg.. Kishore looks at Bhau and says, that lion who fought dangers of the fierce jungle to say Naku , to day is scared to go up to his room! Baji goes.. leave it Kishore Bhau! instead of encouraging Bhau! you are scaring him off!.. Kishore protests, no that's not true... and Dutta turns to look at him and growls, I don't need all this from you! he sighs and says, I am fine. and then Dutta takes a deep breath and stands up! and says seriously as he looks up to his room , just pray the my future life is filled with happiness. Baji holds Dutta's arm and says. Bhau for you not just prayer alone, but my life too! and Dutta gives Baji a big hug.. and Kishore smiles and Sudarshan pulls an face.. Baji weeps in Dutta's embrace I am very happy today Bhau! and they come apart.. and Baji says to him , now Bhau you put hurry up and take yourself up to your room!or vahini will get annoyed with us and Baji bucks him up with a raised fist! and Dutta gathers his wits and walks toward's his wooden stairs. and Baji yells good luck Bhau!
Dutta's den
Kala opens the door of Bhau's room and brings the new bride fair Naku.. into the room with Babi following them. Kala has a tongue in cheek expression... she pushes Naku and faces her.. and says.. today, yours and bhau's dream has come true! on the wedding night every husband gives his wife a gift, and Bhau's gift is really going to be unique!.. Babi looks at her daughter with pride, but says, don't know Tai but I am scared today..what if Bhau gets enraged! Kala pounces on her much hated Babi.. you are afraid for nothing mausi.. it's true Dutta hates beautiful faces..but which husband in the world doesn't respond to a beautiful wife's face?? she looks at a beautiful Naku and says , Nakusha , from today all the problems of your life will finish.[ begin] after today your life will be full ofhappiness..[sorrow]
Naku asks her mother to bless her.. Babi does and cries..and then turns to leave her daughter.. Kala sees her leave and turns to Naku.. forget everything now! and think about Bhau's love[ hate!] if he loved your ugly face.. then think how much more he will love your beautiful face.[ hate your beautiful face]
Kala sees Dutta coming up the wooden stairs and her eyes sparkle with evil.. and she says to Naku, the hour has approached now to show your beautiful face...
Beautiful Naku stands partly hidden by the door.. outside Dutta looks at her covered head... episode ends Hamlet53. 21.6.14
For me it was one of the best tv weddings I have seen.. the ceremony inspite of loud celebrations in the beginning, has an air of sobriety around it.. the silent exchanging gazes and mute vows that they say to each other.. unheard by others was a profound inclusion to impress their unheard ,unspoken but felt love..
Dutta remains, sober yet content.. after all this is not the first time he is going through the rituals , hence he remains firm and composed..
Naku on the other hand smiles at him whenever she sits steals glances at him.
Dutta's wedding third time, is marked by an attempt on his life.. again an unwelcome visitor bringing in Naku real self photo. Security breach.
Overall although the vows sound and look pure and truthful.. they are a farce in reality.. Dutta's bride lies to him on the behest of the two mothers, Dutta's best friend, BUT NO NO his sister Kala is not implicated to be party to all this conspiracy of deceptive fraud.. Kala poisons his life without getting her hands dirty.. why should she? when she has idiotic people who are her relatives.. she will use these brainless lot! they ask for trouble themselves.. and to avenge herself she will have no moral qualms in using them..
End of the episode Kala puts Naku's body to be burnt on the altar of Dutta's wrath!
