We respect your opinon. But there is another way of expressing your opinon. There is the RUDE way and the Nice way.For example darkness123 saying punjabi music is irritating is the same thing as saying that punjabis are irritating people. There is another way to express it..another way of expressing it is by saying that Punjabi music is not really my favourite.IRRITATING is definatly not the WORD. 😡

irritate [ir-i-teyt] verb, -tated, -tating.
–verb (used with object)

1. to excite to impatience or anger; annoy.

Guys PLEASE CALM DOWN. I don't think what Reshmi said is offensive at all. She simply stated a dislike in punjabi music calling it irriating isn't rude/offensive. Irriatings basically another word for annoying. And BY NO MEANS does calling the music irriating mean that shes calling the people irriating! I don't understand where some people get this stuff from. She simply doesn't like the music and to be honest I don't either. Does that make me offensive or rude? And I myself know a lot of people who are Punjabi themselves have lived in India and DON'T LIKE punjabi music either!

And so what if she was in a punjabi music video? She's an actress trying to further her career and she has to do things she may or may not like!!

And Nimmi had just stated her dislike for punjabi music in no way was she trying to offend anyone. Lets not turn this topic into a complete bash Reshmi topic

Umm, excuse me people, you seem to be taking this a LITTLE too seriously. Finding Punjabi MUSIC irritating, doesnt mean that I find Punjabis or their culture irritating. For godssakes, I have hoardes of Punjabi friends. I dont like the music, and Reshmi seems to share my opinion. The interviewers asked her what she doesnt like, and she said so.

Now you cant go around DEMANDING that Reshmi or I like punjabi music, just beacause you guys do. We dont like the music and nothing you say can change it. You may not like Malayalam music and may clearly state so, but I would hardly think it was offending. I would respect your opinion.

This is a choice people make, and any comments you make will hardly make a difference. As do the numerous 😡 after my name. Hardly makes a difference to me. And btw, calling us "LOSERS" just because we dont share your choice in music just shows narrow mindedness and unwillingness to be tolerant to others opinions.

Why is everyone on these forums taking things so personally? Honestly people, not everyone is out to "get you"... It's getting difficult to even express an opinion around here.

Please note that I said I didnt like Punjabi music. NOT PUNJABIS. I'm sorry if it came across that way, as I didnt mean it to be so.

Sorry Nimmi I think you have misunderstood me😊 I'm not saying u HAVE to like Punjabi music neither am I imposing my views on anyone. All I'm asking for is if you don't like something please say it in a nice way😊 For example you could have said "Even I don't like Punjabi music" but you chose to say "Punjabi music is irritating" which is kind of a rude way to state your opinion😭 Everyone has their own choice all I'm asking for is to express it in a nice manner which doesn't hurt anyone's feelings😳

I concur. She and millions of other people have to do things they detest doing; for example one of my friends is an instructor and he hates talking. Doesn't make him a hypocrite.

P.S Sorry for being over sensitive but NO ONE has the right to put down other cultures I know Reshmi only said punjabi songs but music is an integeral part of the Punjabi community and I'm sure other people would agree that this statement is very humiliating to Punjabi community

Correct me if I misunderstood you, but are you trying to say that punjabi music is relfective of the Punjabi community? Because if that is what you're trying to say, then that is debatable/arguable. Since I don't listen to punjabi music all that often, I'll use the examples given by live_life. "Tenu leke mein jawanga[sp]" song, if literally translated means, "I'll take you" - the where part is unknown until you see the video or hear the whole song and if you don't, some can possibly interpret this song as 'dirty'. "Oh gori nal ishq mittha", I think, means "Have an affair with a foreigner" or "terminate the affair with the foreigner"? Tell me, do these songs reflect anything about the Punjabi culture/community? The 2nd song, if the latter definition is correct, can be viewed as a racial comment/remark, can it not? Shakira sang "Beautiful Liar" with Beyonce - does that make the latin and africans homosexual? No, right? My point is - music has nothing to do with culture/community. So if Reshmi says that she finds punjabi MUSIC irritating, she's not necessarily putting down the Punjabi community/culture.😊

@live_life: you do know that the SEI album has more than the "Tenu Leke" song, ight?😛 Plus, she said she was "humming the songs" from SEI, which does not necessarily implicate that she likes them. ;)

I don't like Reshmi AT ALL, but I don't find anything offensive in what she said. I mean, she doesn't like Punjabi music..so what..? Every person has the right to HAVE their own opinions AND to express them as well. So peace.. 😳

It is NOT about the fact that she doesn't like Punjabi music...I have my likes and dislikes too. However there is a small thing called PR. How you present yourself and how you say things makes a big difference. If she was asked what she doesn't like istead of saying I find Punjabi music irritating (which in our society and social norms is considered negative no matter what the official meaning) she could have said I have not found my appreciation for Punjabi music or I am not a fan of Punjabi music or I don't have an ear for punjabi music. It is all about how things are expressed. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion however, when voicing that opinion, especially when one is a public figure with a diverse fan following, one must choose thier words carefully.
