Rakshanda's many shades
She may be known for her vamp roles in TV soap operas, but Rakshanda Khan is an antithesis of her on-screen persona.

She is warm, friendly and certainly not conniving! First a model and then an actress, Rakshanda has had her share of not only walking the ramp, but also hosting fashion events. So, does she see a great difference since the time that she was a working model? "There is definitely more exposure for models today. Earlier, there were only about seven to eight faces that were known. Now, you have a variety of designers with unique styles putting India on the global map. Every model is getting a chance to do some great work. And, they are being paid a lot more as well," she says.

She loves playing the role of the anchor. And, she can't stop raving about the experience. "Hosting events is more of a thrill. As an anchor, you have to multitask and if you make a mistake on stage you have one moment to rectify your mistake. It is something I would never give up," she says. What is her take on Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi going off the air? "I'm very upset. I've had a long and close association with Ekta (Kapoor). She was the first person to put me in a positive role when actors with my kind of looks were placed in negative roles. She broke the mould when it came to television and I've been very close to the group. I am genuinely sad that the show has ended."

With many TV actors moving to films, does Rakshanda have any plans of following suit? "I don't think so. If my mother heard you say that, she would be upset," she replies laughing. But, she wants to spread her wings far and wide. "I've taken a break from television for some time and I'm trying to concentrate on other events." You can't have a better way to keep monotony at bay.
